Relax and celebrate some of life's finest moments in our unique multi-leveled home offering beautiful architecture, welcoming decor, lush landscaping, expansive decking and gorgeous waterfront. Located on Cayuga Lake between Ithaca and the charming little town of Aurora, our property is on Powers Road, fully paved, 2 lane road perfect for morning walks. We are on the east side (facing west) of Cayuga Lake, three miles north of the end of the railroad. There is no railroad or street between our home and our lakefront beach, with expansive views and breathtaking sunsets. We are in the heart of the farm country, on a generous lake front property that provides lots of quiet and privacy for your vacation. We are a true lake front home--you reach the lake down a flight of solid stone steps, across a bit of lawn to the beach. There is no drop off in the water-- the lake edge is perfect for waders of all ages, swimmers, as well as for launching the canoe, row boat and two kayaks that we provide for guests.

Our home is beautifully furnished and we have 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths with fresh linens and towels available along with other comforts. We can accommodate up to 11 guests in the available beds and 2 futons. There is a fully appointed kitchen with breakfast table looking out over the lake and 4 burner stove and double oven for feasts, as well as the new commercial sized outdoor grill for summer cookouts on the 30 foot wide veranda overlooking the lake. A fire it on the stone beach invites evening marshmallow roasting and family stories.

We love waking up and sitting in our sunny kitchen that has a wall of windows overlooking our lake frontage. Savoring coffee and watching the water fowl, as well as the backyard birds at our feeders provides a gentle way to greet the day.

Our architecturally designed home with soaring ceilings and lake views from every room invites you to come relax and unwind. This home was conceived and designed by Robbie Dein, artist and businessman, in 1992, and we have been thrilled to own and live in this lake front jewel since 2002.

The design of the home features high ceilings, windows and views across the lake-side expanse. The dining room, in the center section of the home, features a beech dining table able to seat up to 12. The kitchen provides a wall of wide open window views of the lake and grounds, and sliding glass doors directly onto the deep veranda, inviting family and friends to gather and visit before meals and to enjoy relaxed eating in the kitchen or on the veranda--often called a loggia (a room open on at least one side to the elements).

The loggia is a deep tiled and covered veranda done in a cool aqua motif that invites al fresco dining or evening drinks to catch the cool lake breezes. Formal table seating for 10+ is available on the veranda. Later, the stars come out and the soft night invites lazing in the patio furniture before bed.

A solid stone stairway winds gently down to the lake level where there is a grassy lawn and three steps down to the pebble beach. Kids and adults alike enjoy the 2 kayaks, our canoe that seats 3 or more, and our rowboat for water fun. A solid dock offers sunbathing, fishing, bird watching and a place to tie up your boat in the summer. Our property is right on the water. There is no road or railroad between you and Cayuga Lake (which is sometimes the case with Ithaca properties).

Both romantic and comfortable, our home has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The master bedroom and its en suite bath occupy the northern wing of the second floor. Sliding glass doors open onto our newly renovated generous upstairs deck, inviting relaxing time under the stars before bed. In the balmy months of July and August we've slept on this upper deck under the stars enjoying the soft breezes off the lake and sounds of the water's movement. During the day our upper deck is perfect for private sunbathing and enjoying the expansive lake front views.

The master bedroom has a wall of lakeside glass windows, peaked ceiling, and a king size bed; the bathroom has marble tile and a generous 2 person whirlpool bath in addition to shower and 2 sinks.

The southern second level wing features two intimate bedrooms; one containing a full sized bed, and the other bedroom containing a full sized loft bed with Jefferson stairway access, providing unparalleled views through the peaked lake front windows and direct upper deck access through more sliding glass doors. The loft bedroom also has a leather futon sofa that converts into a bed capable of sleeping an adult comfortably, or two small children.

The center section on the second floor of this unique home is the den and offers a comfortable sofa, television, library, wet bar, mini-fridge and more lake views as well as more sliding glass doors onto the upper deck.

The 'fourth' bedroom is on the first floor of our home and is our guests first choice when we have visitors. It is a private and cozy room providing a full sized bed and en suite bathroom with tub/shower. Guests find this room especially inviting and quiet, encouraging sleeping in and drowsing naps.

The main floor of our home center section is the formal dining room, but it can also quickly become a place where family can gather around the table for board games or a relaxed chat after dinner.

The small living room on the main floor has a full sized sofa that converts into a full sized bed comfortable for 2 adults if there is a large group. Another wide screen TV provides entertainment. There is a desk for those who want to set up a laptop to one side.

The landscaped grounds offer glimpses of local wild life (we have a wild 'yard bunny' and lots of birds).

The other 2 baths and the half bath have splash tile that was hand painted and fired by the original owner, Robbie Dein's wife, Nancy. They are traditional bathrooms with tub/shower combos.

We are located right between Ithaca and Aurora, on the east side of 2 mile wide Cayuga Lake. Our home is so gorgeous you may never want to take a drive--but if you do, there are numerous inviting day trips both north and south of our property. At home, the sunsets are stunning, and our home is surrounded by nature. Our house opens toward the lake as though embracing it; and is refreshed by evening breezes all summer. We often feel as though we're on an ocean as the wind picks up waves; clouds, when present, seem to add to the beauty and no two days are the same.

Our home, a one of a kind design, is in one of the most picturesque settings in the Finger Lakes, with charming rural scenes, farms, woods, and miles and miles of lake views if you go for a drive. At our home we have kayaks, a canoe, and waterfront for swimming, fishing and other water activities. The Don's Marina is just down our street, offering boating and jet ski services.

Closest gas station is now just 3 miles away at 4 corner stop in King Ferry! This shop also has a charming bakery and sandwich shop, along with basic necessities for your home/kitchen.

Inviting wineries belonging to The Cayuga Wine Trail are nearby. Treleaven by King Ferry Winery is 1 mile from our home. Going north along the east side of Cayuga Lake brings you to the delightful and lovingly restored town of Aurora, Wells College, and the destination shopping spot, MacKenzie-Childs. There is more shopping in town, including the fabulous women's clothing boutique, Jane Morgan's Little House.

At the north end of the lake you can visit Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge -- with some of the best birding in the region featuring walking trails, a ranger station and a driving tour of the park and its wild residents.

Heading south from out home leads you to the town of Lansing and the city of Ithaca. Lansing has an inviting local Myers Park, offering swimming, a marina next door, free Thursday night concerts in the summer, and a great playground for youngsters.

Continue south to Ithaca, with its tremendous diversity of activities and offerings, from local festivals, museums, 3 live theater venues, lots of music, dozens of restaurants, bars, and more. Natural hiking trails and water falls are plentiful, including Buttermilk Falls, Robert H. Treman, or Taughannock State Parks.

Change over and check in days are Fridays. Full payment is required at time of booking for Graduation reservations. Reservation is not final until payment is received. Cornell and Ithaca College graduation weekend rates are $1250 per night with a three night minimum. 90 day cancellation policy for refund, for graduations; 60 days for vacations.

Basic Agreement King Ferry Rental

Our home is no smoking and no pets. There is a 90 day refund policy for graduations, 60 days for vacationers. The property is self-serve—guests provide all food, drink, and other amenities. Many guests prefer to bring their own sheets and towels although we have lots of both on hand. This is a country home and internet service can be very slow and may not be available so bring your own hot spot if internet is vital. This property is beautiful and is also family friendly and provides a wonderful environment within which to celebrate some of life's best moments.
**A final note about the “service fee” in the billing. That “service fee” is charged by and is charged to all travelers (as a percentage of their rental) to cover costs of the VRBO network. That money does not come to me in any way and has nothing to do with my specific rental.
