Guestbook comments from the owner

Bruce and his wife provided a beautiful and large suite that offered all necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. And we could bring our pooch with us! We relaxed on the patio which was beautiful in the day or night light. We enjoyed a beautiful garden while listening to the water fountain then got cozy inside. The location was a 5 minute drive from local stores and the Saturday Farmer and Artisans market. We were able to walk down to the beach in 10 minutes to watch the sun set. Or drive to local spots such as Roberts creek (we recommend the Gumboot Cafe). Not only was the location and setting great; Bruce took us crab fishing where we were able to crab our own and had a lesson on how to cook and eat crab from Bruce. He also provided us with kayaks. Bruce directed us how to paddle before sending us out on our own (an adventure to be had) and picked us up afterwards. It was a lot of fun; especially being so close to the sea lions. Overall, we had one of the most relaxing vacations at their home! We arrived and left smiling. Thank you Bruce!!!

VRBO winners of the year

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Vancouver, and we were looking for a little bit of adventure, without the crowds. This was a trip that offered lots of adventure. We just wished we were able to stay longer. When we first arrived, Bruce had just caught some crab and we had that for dinner the first night. We spent some of the days on our own, exploring this region. Bruce was such a gracious host, providing us with so many ideas, including, golf, which we did with both of them. April is a pro, so it put our golf game to shame but it was a treat to golf with someone that good. After golf, Bruce took his kayaks down to the water for us and we had a great time kayaking out to the crab pot to pull it up. Victory...there were three in there. We were going to go fishing one day, but it was a bit rainy. Bruce offered up a fishing pole and tackle for us to take along. We took a drove to Gibson, and checked out the creeks along the way. No fishing, but grabbed a good snack at Smitty's in Gibson.

If VRBO was to award hosts of the year, Bruce and April would win. Next trip will be to stay with them again and bring more family to enjoy the outdoor adventures.

Why we chose Sechelt? Not as crowded as other places in the summer, lots of outdoor options, and breathtaking scenery. Why stay with Bruce and April? It's off the beaten path, we had the conveniences of home, a convenient location to town and to the water, and the awesome reviews, which are all true.

Owner's Response: It was an honor to host such a nice couple from San Diego. No wonder that fireman could get the crab trap so easily - a veteran of sit on top kayaking. We have an aluminum fishing boat with wheels to pull down to the lakes and ocean - the oars have your name on them. (50 bucks for the Honda OB) Sorry Dianna - we only got you an SUP. Have a safe year both of you and please come back --we'll be ready with MORE adventure ideas!!

Convenience +

  • 5 of 5

Bruce's place is a slice of paradise tucked atop a hillside suburban neighborhood. Bruce is also a hospitable host who gave my family many options to play with his water and land toys (kayak, boat, bikes, etc.). Overall. a great location close to town and the attractions of the Sunshine Coast.
