About Nancy or George Roberts

George is from Zimbabwe, Nancy is from New Jersey. We live in Santa Fe, but are of the age, where warmer climates beckon in the winter. We spent a year searching for the perfect getaway...unique architecture, great neighbors, warm community, nightly dancing and history,...this house has everything we valued, and now we can share it with you...

Nancy or George Roberts purchased this house in 2014

Why Nancy or George Roberts chose Gulfport

in looking all over the Tampa Bay area, Gulfport has a great geography, and is also close to everything. The community is a true community, which we felt immediately. Most of all, we like the walkability of the location. It is away from the bars on the waterfront, but close enough if we want to join them!

What makes this house unique

We love the location, close to everything. The charming architecture of the Spanish Bungalow is what we first fell in love with. We also love being on a corner lot. The flow of the house works perfectly for us, with bright sunny windows, but block out blinds for sleeping...and a jetted tub when we dance too much...we love the Gulfport Casino, that offers different dances nightly.

Our second year

  • 5 of 5

Our second year in this cute 1920’s corner bungalow ( on two very quite side streets). All major appliances worked well ( including A/C). Just used one bed- very confortable. Close to beaches, and freeway, as well as walking distance to shops nd restaurants of downtown Gulfport

Enjoyed our Gulfport stay

  • 5 of 5

Very happy with the 4 weeks spent in friendly, funky Gulfport. House was in a very quiet residential neighborhood. Location was good- near restaurants , shops and bay. Short drive to beaches, downtown. Not far from Fort DeSoto Park. House was well stocked . Appliances all good. Kitchen had plenty of equipment. Pictures were all accurate in showing property.

Great house! Cutely decorated and well supplied. Nice walk to fun bars, restaurants and small beach. We loved it, look forward to coming back. Great location in a quiet, eccentric artsy district.

Good location however probably won't go back to the area

  • 3 of 5

This house is located very close to the Gulfport Historic District, which is very cute and has a lot of restaurants, bars, and shops. Additionally, the house is only a 15 minute drive to Treasure Island Beach, Maderia Beach, and Sunset Beach. All of these beaches have public parking (paid) and umbrella and chair rentals.

The house was not very clean past the surface level. The bathtub has visiting spiders every night and the cups were covered in a film. The beds and pillows are not comfortable either. The AC works amazingly!

Finally, the garage is supposed to be accessible to guests however, the lettered lock (the kind you where you line up letters to unlock) was missing two rows of letters, making it impossible to get access to the washer/dryer in the garage.

Overall, I probably won't go back to the area and thus would not stay here again. I also got food poisoning from the restaurant Sea Breeze and lost a day of vacation throwing up, no fault of this VRBO owner of course.

Good location! Very nice rental

  • 4 of 5

House is just a few streets over from the beach! Cute downtown of Gulfport within walking distance. Home was clean, beds comfy it felt like staying at a friends house for the weekend! Nancy and George answered any and all questions we had. We took our two dogs and they loved the fenced in patio area! Will definitely stay here again

Nice updated vintage Florida experience

  • 5 of 5

This house has a vintage Mediterranean exterior with an updated interior with original art and antique accents. It is in a convenient, quiet neighborhood near beaches, dining and art, gift and curio shops. It is in a good place for a morning walk, but a bit too far away to walk to the Bayfront Park and shopping area of Gulfport. We drove to and enjoyed the shops and Bay Front Park nearby. We were able to enjoy St. Petersburg and the Salvador Dali/Walt Disney Museum and a more distant excursion to Myakka River State Park to enjoy Florida's original ecology. The house provided excellent beds, jacuzzi, and updated appliances, although dishwasher was lacking. Large washer and dryer are available in the storage/garage. The master bedroom provides a very comfortable queen sized bed. It is small with little room for open luggage, but has adequate drawer and closet space. A second bedroom and separate enclosed porch room provide twin beds for two additional people. A new, bright and large TV with bluetooth player is located in the living room. The VRBO website provides accurate pictures of the place. Instructions provided by the owners were very helpful providing easy access to the property, how to use of the appliances, WiFi, etc. We would definitely recommend this place for a homey, relaxing vacation experience.
