Always relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd stay in one of Sandra’s homes, and as always, a great time was had! Her homes are clean, decorated so cute and she is very easy to work with. Can’t wait to stay in a third property she owns. Don’t hesitate to book with her, you won’t be sorry.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect balance of quiet retreat and convenience - close enough to town to enjoy its offerings yet far enough away to provide peace and quiet, even on a holiday weekend! The cabin is well appointed inside and out, and the patio provides enough privacy to enjoy time in the hot tub without hindering the feeling of enjoying the outdoors. We love cooking, so appreciated having a fully equipped kitchen. Thank you for a lovely weekend!!!

Charming, cozy and romantic, highly recommend, new favorite!

My husband and I stayed here with our two dogs for just one night for our anniversary. We really wished we had booked more nights and absolutely hated to leave. The cabin is so charming and very clean. The decor and cozy ambiance make you feel like you're tucked away somewhere in the woods even though the cabin is within walking distance to town and very convenient to everything. Our dogs loved playing in the huge yard. The jacuzzi was wonderful and the back deck is so peaceful and perfect for star gazing and grilling dinner. The bed is like a cloud with such soft sheets and the room is decorated so cute. The view of the pine trees from the bedroom is really wonderful to wake up to. The couches in the living room were really comfy and we watched a couple of movies from their huge collection of dvds and enjoyed the wonderful fireplace. They also have a very nice selection of music if you want to listen. The host was eager to help in any way and always answered our texts immediately. This cabin is really reasonably priced for all the thought and time they have put into the decor and everything that is provided. They have not skimped on anything. The kitchen is better stocked than any cabin we've ever stayed in and they provide pretty dinnerware, instead of plastic or paper like a lot of places. We thought that was a really nice touch. We've stayed in many places in idyllwild but this is definitely the most charming we've found, especially on the inside. You won't be disappointed if you are looking for a quick romantic getaway. We will definitely be staying here from now on. Thanks for sharing your lovely little cottage with us!

Cozy, but very dark. Street Noise. Unsightly Views from backyard. Wouldn't stay again.

My wife and I booked this cabin for our anniversary after reading all the positive reviews. We’ve been to Idyllwild on numerous occasions and have stayed in nice places and then not so nice places. We stayed three days and left a day early. First, I would agree with most reviews that the cabin is cozy. As for cleanliness, it appeared clean, but the cabin is very dark, and we did notice a lot of cob webs in the kitchen on the wall above the sink and fridge. Also, the wall heater had paint that was peeling off, which I don’t think is too healthy considering forced air is coming out. We’ve been to all the Idyllwild restaurants and decided to bring up food for our stay that we could cook or grill. The first night, I was looking for a pan to cook a couple of pieces of fish and the first skillet I pulled out from the cabinet had Teflon that was literally peeling off. It put us off wanting to cook, but we persevered and found a cast iron skillet that worked. The next night, we planned on grilling a few steaks, but I couldn’t get the grill to light. It has a broken ignition switch with a note saying to use the lighter to light. After numerous attempts to light, I gave up. The third night we tried the grill again, and I nearly seared my eyebrows off when the flame finally lit. Very unsafe and not sure why the owner doesn’t just get an ignition switch from Amazon along with a cover. It’s so dirty being left outside without a cover that I didn’t feel like cooking on it. We were also looking forward to relaxing on the outdoor deck, but the properties on either side are terrible eyesores and didn’t enjoy the view of the brown tarp covered woodpile in the middle of the yard. As for peace and quiet, we’re used to being able to hear the wind as it blows through the pines. Unfortunately, the cabin is located on a fairly busy street where cars go by at 35 miles an hour. Our last night there, the neighbor’s dog next door had just been run over and killed. Quite upsetting to say the least. As for TV, only basic cable is offered and as other reviewers have mentioned, the TV is placed so that it’s not comfortable watching. Also, we were under the impression that the Christmas decorations were seasonal décor. I wasn’t prepared for Christmas in September. I know that this review seems like an anomaly considering all the positive reviews. Maybe our standards are unreasonably high, but this cozy cabin does not give a home away from home feel.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry to say for the first time in four years hosting that these guests would not be welcome back. He and his wife were having loud arguments which unfortunately were heard by neighbors either side of them during their entire stay so I would guess that it was the company and not the accommodations that was the problem. Their review is largely based on fiction and plain nonsense. We have many pots and pans as well as a crock pot, elec skillet etc, which we purchased brand new a couple of years ago so if one of the pans was damaged then they could have simply discarded it. I don't usually respond like this but when someone leaves a review that they "perservered" because of a damaged pan...really? This cabin has over 150 reviews from guests on here and elsewhere that rave about the decor, how clean it is and tell what a great little retreat it is. If a remote location and upgraded cable were so important we wish this guest would have specified this or at least read the listing more carefully before booking. They even declined our offer to show this cabin and our others to them before they booked. And to complain about what we don't claim to offer? The cabin is pinpointed on a map showing exactly where it is and if they had been to Idyllwild many times before, its location and proximity to town should have been obvious. The cabin, which has double glazed windows and is set back and below street level, is quiet inside and the traffic is only during travel times for the art academy so, for a short period in the morning and also in the afternoon when classes let out. The rest of the day and night are very quiet and the backyard is peaceful. We fully explained this to this guest before he booked. We do not advertise that we provide upgraded cable but we do have chromecast and over 150 movies to chose from. The TV is mounted above the fireplace because there are two large windows to either side of it, which incidentally let in a lot of light if you open the draperies and it is exactly the same as it appears in the photos. The rest of the review is complete fiction except for the tragic death of our neighbor's dog. It sounds that this traveler was perhaps not having the best anniversary and a more remote location would have been more suitable for their marital spats. Seems they were disappointed by Idyllwild in general, including the restaurants, neighbor's yards etc...but we find it a bit unfair to punish us for a bad time by leaving such an unflattering review.

About sandra flood

My husband and I purchased this great little cabin last summer right after we visited Idyllwild and fell in love with it. This little mountain getaway has so much to offer with its change of seasons and charming mountain atmosphere. Only a short distance from our home in Carlsbad, this feels like we are worlds away from our busy lives. We have tried to think of every convenience to make your stay extraordinary. We use the cabin often ourselves and are always busy adding new touches to the décor. As a former Interior Designer, I am always looking for ways to improve the space, so chances are, the next time you visit there will be even more touches to make our cabin your favorite destination in Idyllwild. We hope that you enjoy and come back very often.

Why sandra flood chose Idyllwild

This little cabin has so much charm. We purchased it from a couple who spent many happy years there together. We got such a great feeling just walking in to the property the first time we looked at it. We love its rustic touches but it is so solid and warm that even in super cold weather, its toasty and warm inside. We spend a lot of time up here and enjoy the large deck right outside the bedroom to have our morning coffee and a glass of wine at night. Its so peaceful and quiet back there. The place is just the right size for two. Makes a wonderful romantic getaway. Several couples have gotten engaged here and many have come back to celebrate anniversaries or honeymoons.

What makes this cottage unique

We love that the cabin is within walking distance to the Idyllwild Arts Campus. The concerts are fantastic and a great evening activity in the Summer.
