Discounted Weekly Summer Stays at The Barn in Tivoli

The Barn in Tivoli is a fun, cozy & unique home for your country getaway!

It's an easy 5-minute walk to the charming Hudson Valley Village of Tivoli where you can start the day with fresh baked brioches, have brunch at Murray's and get an Ayurvedic treatment in the afternoon. In the evening, after a nutritious farm-to-table dinner, catch a theater performance at Tangent, dance at Kaatsbaan or opera at The Fisher Center for the Performing Arts (a stunning Frank Gehry building). End the night at Traghaven, the whiskey pub, and if you are lucky, it'll be Karaoke Night!

If staying in is what you need, the Barn is a relaxing retreat with wood burning stove, old piano, a soaking tub, a curious library, back deck, grill, fire pit and a rustic kitchen equipped for your cooking pleasure. Take a walk to the stream or have a picnic by the pond.

For the adventurous guests, Tivoli Bays is a great setting for kayaking, paddle boarding, bike riding or just a hike on your own two feet. Our area also features beautiful roads for bike riding.

BARN DESCRIPTION

Unique, 4-season rustic barn, with open, loft-like floor plan. Lovingly renovated with the work of numerous local artisans, surrounded by gardens and green, a 4-acre oasis with pond, stream, small yoga deck, 3 fire pits and picnic table by the pond. The Barn is a fun, charming, rustic shelter and provides a totally unique experience for friends and family. It's a communal space that brings people closer together. 'It was like a big sleepover' says one of our illustrious guests.

In the cold months, it heats with a highly efficient wood burning stove. We provide all the wood. The Barn will be fully heated once you arrive!

In the Summer the Barn cools down with 2 window ACs and you cool down at the spacious, private outdoor shower while gazing at the trees and sky.

SLEEPING LAYOUT

The Barn sleeps 6 guests in 5 beds; 1 king, 2 queens and 2 twins. The 5 beds are distributed in 3 different levels; ground, second floor and loft.

**IMPORTANT** The Barn is a loft and bedrooms are not separated by doors. They do have privacy curtains and their own cozy nooks.

GROUND FLOOR // Nook by the piano: thick queen futon mattress on wooden frame. This bed can be used as a day bed or as a bedroom.

SECOND FLOOR //

LIBRARY
All sorts of books - I am sure you will find something curious. Enjoy it on the hammock in the summer or by the wood burning stove in the Winter.

BACK DECK
Brand new, fun & colorful seating and dinning for cookouts from spring to fall. Large gas grill and fire pit are your outdoor cooking options.

OUTDOOR SHOWER
Open May to October
Wonderful, spacious, private shower on the deck! In the summer you might find yourself taking multiple showers throughout the day.

FIRE PIT
The fire pit located in the Barn's backyard is for your exclusive use.

PROPERTY
*shared with house*
The property features over four acres of forest bordered by Stony Creek. In the center, there's an open meadow with a pond. We placed a beautiful, custom, cedar picnic table there, right next to a second fire pit. It's a wonderful place to watch nature and enjoy beautiful days.

If you walk along the creek you will get to two different spots where you can access the water. One spot has a pebble beach with a semi deep spot where you can dip in. The other entrance features a third fire pit. We have placed a small wooden platform by the creek, ideal for meditating, practicing yoga or just watching and listening to the water.

Our house neighbors the Barn. Occasionally, when we travel, we rent it out to 1 or 2 couples. Both structures are private and sit around 75 feet away from each other and 100 feet away from Broadway.

THE VILLAGE

Tivoli is one of the hidden gems of the Hudson Valley and an easy 5 minute walk from the Barn.

It serves a big portion of the Bard University population - students & professors are often seen walking around the village at the coffee shop and bakery. Tivoli is also home many young families who moved up from NYC + BK and old residents including world famous artists.

Tivoli is a tiny village, friendly & quaint. It's centrally located between Rhinebeck and Hudson with Germantown and Red Hook along the way. It's an awesome spot to explore the Mid-Hudson Valley - from farms to old mansions, from antiquing to watching cabaret at the Spiegeltent or high-end performances at The Fischer Center for the Performing Arts. Visit the beautiful Olana sitting atop a hill with majestic views of the Hudson, catch experimental music and art at the Basilica and shows at Helsinki. Not to mention all the superb dining options in Tivoli and all the way from Rhinebeck to Hudson.

Lovely stay!
Four ladies at The Barn over the NY Sheep & Wool Festival for 3 nights. Charming décor - lovely rustic and touches of whimsy, very comfortable sleeping arrangements - each of us with our "own" sleeping space, well stocked and toasty warm wood stove. Weather didn't allow us to enjoy the outside deck but I am sure that space would be terrific on summer evenings! Perfect location allowed us to walk into town for dinner - where there are several nice restaurants and a cute yarn shop. Our only "need" would be for better lighting to support our evening fiber craft activities :) but we made it work and had a delightful stay!! Thank you to our hosts!

Charming, peaceful respite....
We loved the barn, it’s setting, attention to detail and the sweet town of tivoli. Bruna is an excellent communicator and has done a beautiful renovation of the barn. Lovely walks, drives and towns nearby. We would easily return!

Cute place, wonderful setting, and close to town
The owner was easy to work with and the barn was just as described. We loved how isolated it feels while still being so close to Tivoli town center and easy access to Hudson and Rhinebeck. The barn itself is perfect for a close group of friends and full of Instagram-able moments. The back yard is vast, with a lovely stream, fire pit, yoga platform and a small swimming hole which was too low for us to really use in mid-June. We had a great campfire one night, used the high-quality propane grill, and enjoyed the hammock. Would definitely stay here again!

About the host

Hosted by Bruna De Araujo

Host profile image
I am a photo and video editor who came to NYC from Brazil in 1998. My husband is a designer & builder of all things sustainable at Ecosystems Brand. Fourteen years and a child later we felt the urge to return to the best things of our childhood; space, trees, clean air, birds & bees and farm fresh wonderfulness! So we moved up to the magical Hudson Valley.

Why they chose this property

At the very beginning of our relationship, my husband and I, rented the Barn together with four other close friends. We fell in love with the place as we fell for each other.

He then came to spend a winter at the Barn going through his old sketchbooks and looking into the future. We got married and had a child. Brooklyn was lacking what we were dreaming of and with perfect timing we received an email about the property's sale.

We looked at each other and agreed, let's buy it, and we did in April 2012.

What makes this property unique

Rustic charm, comfort, warmth and relaxation.

The Barn is located in the heart of Dutchess County with Rhinebeck 18 min south and Hudson 18 min north. Bard is a 5 minute drive, the Village of Tivoli is a 5 minute walk.

Omega Institute is 30 minutes away.

The Hudson River with views of the Catskills is a 10 min bike ride.

The creek with the private swimming hole and yoga deck make our spot truly magnificent! Read a book by the pond under the shade of the catalpa tree, watch and hear the birds and take in the summer sun energy.

Life is good at the Barn.
