Wonderful property and hosts

  • 5 of 5

This is a private, exquisite and very well managed property in the Courtenay area, that we will be looking forward to returning to.

Located just far enough north of Courtenay to be out of the city, but close enough for convenience, this beautifully furnished and well maintained location is a perfect location for a stay in the area.

Thanks very much for hosting us!

Peaceful, bright, comfortable coach home

  • 5 of 5

Patrick and Karen have put a lot of effort into creating a private, charming oasis in their coach property. Definitely the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on at a VRBO. It's well stocked with most everything you would need in the kitchen. Lot of towels, bedding and even some slippers. But who needs slippers with a heated bathroom floor?😀. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful, well-run accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Great place, run with the right mix of discretion. Certainly one of the best places I've stayed in - from Australia to Europe, none compare.

About Patrick Richard Guinan

Karen and I left Yellowknife in 2009 to semi retire on Vancouver Island. Karen was born and raised in Yellowknife and is a true northern girl. Karen didn't shy away from any outdoor activities, curling, fishing, camping and boating were always on her list of thing to do. I meet Karen in Yellowknife after moving from Winnipeg Manitoba. We both attended local schools and soon we were dating and later married. While in Yellowknife Karen and I owned or invested in several local businesses and enjoyed our time in the North. We'll miss the North but it will always be part of who we are.

Patrick Richard Guinan purchased this chateau / country house in 2009

Why Patrick Richard Guinan chose Courtenay

We decided to buy this rural piece of land for several reasons. The main reason was the great weather in the Comox Valley. After living in the Northwest Territories for 40+ years and experiencing -57 below we wanted to stay in Canada but specifically in an area of Canada that had a lot milder winter. The other reason we choose this area was the great west coast scenery. The scenic views of the beautiful white capped mountains, glaciers, green pastures, horses and the Ocean breeze. This rural area in the Comox Valley is where we found the peace and serenity that we were looking for. The final reason for purchasing this property was its close proximity to all the amenities. The Ocean is just a three minute walk out of our front door and you can hear the Harbor Seal calling frequently in the morning, the Airport is only a 12 minute drive and the Town of Comox T is only a 15 minutes drive. We are also very close to some of the Comox Valley great tourists attractions, Miracle Beach, Saratoga Beach, Pacific Playgrounds International, Seal Bay Park, Cap Lazo, Winery, Horse Back Riding, Boat Launches, Skiing, Whale Watching, Pacific Salmon Fishing just to mention a few.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

This NEWLY constructed 1930 Rival Carriage Home has several unique features that set this vacation rental unit apart from the rest. It's NEW, I can't say any more than that. It has the latest in mechanical heat recovery systems which means clean fresh indoor air throughout the entire year regardless of the weather. It's open design makes the home feel like 800 sq feet when it's truly only 422 sq.ft. The hot water system is enormous! for those long hot rain shower that people deserve only to step out onto a heated floor. The building is safe and secure with all the latest amenities, plenty of yard space, a fire pit for those nights of relaxing around the fire. This is truly a vacation rental that you don't want to miss out on. a little piece of heaven.
