Note: While we can sleep 11 in beds, the home is a great spacious choice for a maximum of 10 adults ONLY in compliance with the City of Savannah ordinance. For larger groups, or if an additional rental is needed, we can accommodate more in our neighboring, 'sister' homes, “The Janie” (listing ID #675585) next door as well as "The Stella" (listing #971160) or in one of our other vacation rentals in the Historic District of Downtown Savannah that we own and personally manage.

About our home: Welcome to “The Clara”, our lovingly restored Victorian townhome among “Margaret Strous Row” in beautiful Downtown Savannah's Victorian District. Located within blocks of Forsyth Park, this circa 1891, four bedroom - two bath, vacation home offers all the comfortable and cozy luxuries you’re looking for AND provides 2 free private/designated off-street parking spaces with your rental with ample on street (non-metered) parking also available.

“The Clara”, aptly named for one of Margaret Strous’ daughters who grew up next door more than a century ago, will step you back in time with beautiful Victorian architectural details inside and out, and furnished with period antique furnishings we have collected over many years from all over Georgia.

Entering “The Clara” vacation home you’ll find a large living area with comfortable seating including a sofa, loveseat, flat screen LCD TV, DVD player, drop-leaf table with two chairs, and a secretary desk. (A comfy twin roll-away bed with foam mattress is stored with extra linens in the closet under the stairs.)

The formal dining room with semi-open floorplan to the living room offers a 6-seat dining room table with a buffet server and cozy reading chair. An additional 6-seat dining table is located adjacent in the breakfast room to accommodate a total of 12 dining guests.

The kitchen is modern and well equipped with all cooking and kitchenware to prepare a fine meal. Fridge with icemaker and filtered water dispenser. Dishwasher and disposal. Electric smooth top range and oven. Microwave, blender, toaster, and coffee maker.

Step out the french doors from the kitchen onto the classic back porch with charming wicker furniture overlooking our private courtyard…a perfect place to sip morning coffee and bird watch for red cardinals, our resident mourning doves, or the occasional squirrel.

A full bath is located downstairs off the kitchen with a vintage claw foot tub with shower combo. The second, near identical full bath, is located upstairs adjacent to the large laundry/dressing room conveniently autonomous of the bedrooms (so as not to disturb any sleeping beauties when the bath is in use late night or early morning).

The grand staircase takes you to the 2nd floor where the aforementioned full bath and dressing/laundry room is located in addition to 3 large bedrooms, and a 4th bedroom known as the ‘trunk room’.

The ‘master’ bedroom is bright and sunny with the beautiful bay window, two full/double beds that sleep four, a large dresser, matching antique ‘washstand’ with seating area, closet, and a LCD TV.

The second bedroom boasts the comfy King bed, dresser, closet, a recliner, and LCD TV.

The third sunny bedroom is furnished with the queen bed, large wicker dresser, and TV with DVD player.

The fourth bedroom or Trunk room, a customary Savannah term used in our historic homes, comfortable accommodates a full size bed and dresser.

Park up to two of your vehicles in the free designated off-street parking spaces provide in rear of the home and enjoy the leisurely 5 minute walk to Savannah’s iconic Forsyth Park or spend the day strolling the 1.2 miles from the rental under Spanish moss draped trees to River Street exploring all our beautiful Savannah Squares, quaint shops, and eateries along the way!

Pedicabs (Savannah’s version of a rickshaw) will deliver passengers to the south end of Forsyth Park, just 2 blocks from “The Clara”. They work for tips and the experience is a fun way to transverse the streets. At night, we recommend a cab or UBER ride to get to and from the home to the entertainment district around River Street and City Market.

We require a 3-night minimum on weekends most months of the year, so please inquire prior to booking for a quote or if a longer stay than 1 or 2 nights is required if your dates are not specifically noted under the "Rates" tab.

We love our guests and want them to have a fabulous time. It is important to note that in Downtown Savannah the homes are very close together and full time residents do live next to the vacation rental homes. In order to respect your neighbors we ask for 'quiet hours' after 10pm. This simply means don't play loud music inside or out, refrain from shouting, etc. Remember when you are on the porches you can be heard very well by the surrounding residents. We simple do not tolerate obnoxious or drunken behavior. Thank you for your respect and understanding.
