NOT what was advertised

  • 1 of 5

I was disappointed with this unit as it was NOT beach front as advertised (the property is ocean front but this unit was not beach front). I was told I would be able to hear the ocean 24/7, and I could barely hear it ONLY when the air conditioner unit of the building in front of me was not running and I was standing on the porch. I pay good money to stay beach front for the sole purpose of hearing the ocean 24/7. Nor was the kitchen fully equipped. No sharp cutting knife, very small outdated toaster, no spatulas, no lids that fit the sauce pans, no spices. I rent a condo with a kitchen because I expect to cook most meals in. These are a few of the items that one would expect to find in a fully equipped kitchen. I love being at the beach and the sunrise and sunset walks did not disappoint. But the sand was not user friendly, it was full of tiny shell fragments so much that I could not walk on it. So I was very disappointed with this property. :(

Excellent Stay at Port O'Call Villa C201

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in IOP and our accommodations at Port O'Call C201 was excellent. View from screened in porch was one of the best views we have stayed out. Convinece to pool, beach, outside shower hard to beat. The inside of this unit was just like the pictures. Will definitely come again and stay at same unit. No complaints.

Lacks an Owner's Touch - No Attention to Detail

  • 1 of 5

This is our third stay in Port O Call, and the only negative experience we've ever had due to the condition of the condo. The worst part was the mattresses on both the bed and the sofa bed. Both were extremely past their useful life. The sofa bed and the sofa itself were not fit for donation to Goodwill. The seat cushions were dirty and worn out with no real cushion left to them. The sofa bed mattress was nothing more than springs with a blanket on top. The queen mattress in the bedroom was of the cheapest quality and totally worn out. When you sat on the end, you were fearful of the entire bed collapsing. When rolling over at night, the entire mattress shook and wobbled. Many things in the condo were broken or inoperative, such as towel bars that would spontaneously fall off, knobs missing off doors, and the window in the living room was stuck open 2 inches wide with a note taped to it stating that repair would happen soon. If they had to stick a note to the window, and nobody came in the week we were here, I imagine the repair is a long way off. The kitchen was missing basic necessities for a beach stay. No wine tool, beer bottle opener or can opener!!! The A/C has some sort of fan that turns on every hour or so very loudly, like a car engine, and then abruptly cuts off. This woke us up several times during the night. Several times we found roaches in the kitchen. Probably the best thing is the ocean view, but we'll never rent a unit managed by an agency again. In the past, we've rented directly from the owner, and we've never had anything short of an excellent experience when the owner is personally involved. I thought VRBO always meant you rent directly from the owner, but I guess they're letting agencies on here. Be warned.
