It was a perfect getaway to relax. Listening to the waves crash when falling asleep was the best.

Stunning View - Step Onto the Beach Right Off the Back Porch

  • 4 of 5

Pros: The layout is unique and the stunning view can be seen from every room, even the foyer. The kitchen is modern and nicely equipped with cute design. W/D holds a decent load of laundry. The foyer has a trundle bed that sleeps two if needed. The wifi worked well, and they offered Xfinity TV. The screened in porch was super comfortable to sit and enjoy the ocean. The beach was very quiet and secluded at the end of the island. A herd of deer came up to the back porch at night and walked the cool!!!

Cons: The king sized bed was very firm. The knotted area rugs in the living room and bedroom were uncomfortable to walk on. The living room furniture wasn't the most comfortable to sit on, but if you adjusted the pillows it was OK. My Verizon cell phone dropped when I tried to make/receive calls. I could text but not call from the condo. However, they did have phones there to call if needed. The security gate workers could be annoying at times. TWICE the guy was asleep at night and we waited 5 minutes for him to open the gate to let us in. Another time, they wouldn't let my niece and her fiance through to come visit us, even though she gave them our names and condo number. My husband had to go down to bring them a car pass.

Fantastic location

  • 4 of 5

This was our second stay in Port O'Call and we loved it. We had booked our original condo for this stay, but due to some miscommunication between the rental agency and the owners, we were given this as an alternative and I'm really glad we were. We'd read other places that the first floor beach front units did not have good views, but that is not the case at all. The view is amazing and the beach is literally steps away and it's incredibly convenient. The pool is right around the corner as well. The unit itself is fairly well appointed. The furniture is not new, but it's well taken care of and comfortable. Our only complaints were in the kitchen there are no good knives for actual cooking and prep work. Absent that, there was a good amount of basic cooking tools. These condos have pocket doors, which is the best for the limited space, but I don't think there was a single door that worked easily. They have all come off the tracks and you really have to work to get them to open and close (and some don't close all the way). The sliding doors to the porch are also a pain. We actually just used a tool kit we found at the house to fix the handle on one so it wouldn't snap off and the one from the bedroom takes some serious power to open from the inside and is next to impossible to open from the outside. I got locked out one day because of that door. (OWNERS- FIX THE DOORS). This is not a big space, but it never felt cramped. Also, the twin daybed in the entry has a trundle bed as well, so it can sleep two there if you're ok with the front door being inaccessible for the night. We didn't have any of the negative experiences mentioned in another review, with the exception of the living room tv turning on at 4am once. Overall, the location combined with the views just can't be beat. Assuming we stick with our small family, we will go again next year.

Beautiful View - Poor Quality Property

  • 2 of 5

The view from the deck is the best part of this unit. It sits right on the beach and gives a close view of the ocean. Unfortunately, that's about the only great part of this unit. The AC is broken. There's a sticker on the AC unit that tells the guest to set it 7 degrees below desired temperature to get the temp you want. However, it has run all 4 days and never cooled. The towels are not very clean and have a hair on them. The TV turned itself on Saturday morning and woke us up at 8am. The blender does not actually crush ice, it's pretty old. The bathroom is old and tiles are dingy. The tile grout is coming out on the floors. I'm pretty disappointed as I paid a lot of money for 3 nights and really needed a peaceful getaway. Will definitely go back to the boardwalk in or other better kept units on my next IoP visit.
