About Deborah MacLeod

I am originally from PEI and currently live in Toronto. Our family has always spent our summers in PEI.

Deborah MacLeod purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Deborah MacLeod chose Saint Peters Bay

We built a cottage in Cable Head West in 2006. Due to the high volume of visitors, we moved and renovated the Parish House in 2010 to be a guest house. When it is not being used by family and friends, we rent it out so that other people can enjoy it.

What makes this cottage unique

Situated on 5 acres of cleared land, the Parish House has horse paddocks on the property as well as a tennis court. It is a short walk down a dirt road to miles and miles of sandy beach.

Phenomenal and relaxing family stay!

  • 5 of 5

After much research on where to stay on PEI and then scouring numerous listing, we decided to stay at the Parish House. What a great choice we made! Our family of four (mom, dad, with 2 kids in tow - boy and girl, both under 8) had plenty of room to spread out inside and outside of the home. The kids enjoyed "playing" tennis and seeing the horse each day. We did run into one issue when the refrigerator stopped working, but we were able to get in touch with the owners who sent their handyman out immediately. He was able to solve the problem and we didn't have to move any food. The house was in a great location to go see the Eastern part of PEI as well as Charlottetown. The beach was incredible and we had a blast taking walks and looking for sea glass. This is definitely a place worth recommending!

A perfect week in the Parish House

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived to the Parish House after a 2100 km journey, we were pleased to find everything ready and welcoming, from the well equipped kitchen to the 4 1/2 bathrooms (perfect for our family of 10) to the beach towels, folded and ready for use. The house provides ample space for a group to be together and apart as the situation requires. The house is beautifully restored and convenient to adjust to - bedrooms are spacious, bathrooms modern, the tennis courts provided much entertainment, and the deck, with cushions on every chair, gave a great spot for relaxing, reading and conversation. The dining room table accommodated both meals and games, and the TV room gave an 'away' place for those who wanted to watch the TV show collection. It was great to have constant wifi access, too.

Located close to Greenwich Beach where we took in the sunsets, the House is near St. Peter's Bay which provided many seafood dinners and ice cream. We could get anywhere on the island relatively easily ...and we did, from Cavendish to Summerside to Charlotttetown itself, many times.

Deb is a very welcoming hostess, and though not in PEI during our visit, has set up a network of assistants who were ready and available to answer our requests (of which there were few, that's how well prepared this house is to receive guests!)

I can heartily recommend this accommodation.

Family vacation in paradise

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Parish House in July 2014 and had one of the best family vacations we've ever had. The house is spectacularly restored / renovated and has all the comforts of home (and then some). The grounds are beautiful with horses in the paddock outside the back door, tennis courts and you're only a few hundred metres from the beach.

We spent a lot of time walking the beach - pristine red sand beach for as far as you can see. You can walk for hours along the beach collecting shells and will never run into anybody, you'll have the entire beach to yourself.

You're also only a couple minutes drive into St Peter's Bay which has great restaurants and shops. If you're thinking of a relaxing family vacation in paradise, this is definitely the place. We can't wait to get back there and there is nowhere else we would think of staying in PEI.
