Guestbook comments from the manager

We recently returned home from this sweet cabin "Sparrows Nest". It was the perfect Smoky Mtn cabin to get away from the craziness of everyday life and to enjoy the peacefulness of the mountains. The inside of the cabin was very warm and inviting. It was clean and well stocked with the necessary kitchen , bedroom linens and bath items you would need. Having a washer/dryer combo was also convenient. The cabin location was perfect. When we wanted to do the "tourist" thing, it was only a short drive to Ashville NC or the Gatlinburg area. When we wanted to go on a picnic or do some hiking in the park, the Cosby entrance to the park was only minutes away. We spent a good deal of our time just relaxing on the porch. As the sun was coming up , we would sit in the rocking chairs enjoying our morning coffee and watch for the turkeys to visit. In the evenings we would eat our dinner at the patio table and watch the sun go down. Before bed , we would soak in the hot tub and stare at the stars and the fireflies that filled the sky. I would love to come back in the fall when the weather is cooler to see the beautiful fall colors and enjoy the fireplace. Sparrow Nest is a very nice cabin to visit. We will be back!

Nice location/cabin

  • 3 of 5

The cabin and location were both very peaceful and beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals. We really enjoyed watching the turkeys and visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and hiking the trails, in fact both of the places we visited were in close driving distance. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge were a bit further, but the drive was so beautiful it didn't matter.

However, the bed was terrible. I'm pretty sure the springs in it were completely shot, and the day after our first night there, my husband's back was killing him. When you are going on a vacation, you want to relax and getting a comfortable night's sleep is a big part of that. The bed in this cabin does not allow that, even with a mattress pad. It was truly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever been in. Also, the hot tub was great, but anyone driving past to the other cabins could see right down into the hot tub, leaving very little privacy, so we had to make sure it was dark before we could get in.

Overall, we had a good stay. But I wouldn't be willing to book this cabin again until a better mattress is put on that bed.

Owner's Response: Lisa, Our management and homeowner takes your review very seriously. The homeowner has recently purchased and installed a brand new mattress privacy screen for the hot tub area. We hope that you return and give us another try. Smoky Mountain Falls

Hour to pigeon forge.

  • 2 of 5

Travel time to attractions was too far out for us. Hour from pigeon forge. Only dollar general close by. Hot tube was not private. Cabin was clean. You'll need a starter for fireplace. No tv in bedroom. Decorated well. Dont b over 6' or a bigger person and try the shower. Nice clean towels. Decent view. I don't recommend.

Owner's Response: Cosby TN is a 25 to 30 minute drive to Pigeon Forge, maximum. We regret that you were dissatisfied with the hot tub, shower, and fireplace.

Great little cabin. Perfect for two! Just far enough away but not too isolated.

Cute cabin with a beautiful view

  • 3 of 5

Cute cabin that was well worth the money... The view was gorgeous and hot tub was very inviting. The cabin had most necessities for a short visit and Gatlinburg was an easy enough drive (must see, it’s beautiful there).

The cabin was quaint and clean with many perks, but there were a few drawbacks...First, we were given the wrong lockbox code so when we arrived after an 11 hour drive we had to wait outside for correspondence in regards to entering the cabin. Second, the owner only provided one trash can outside and asked that renters take extras to an off site trash drop off. (Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like no one on vacation should have to drive on unfamiliar winding roads to get rid of their trash. It’s a simple fix, invest in a second trash can... Long stays will have more than one can of trash.) Lastly, the stairs leading down to the cabin were very dangerous. Railroad ties were uneven and rocks stuck up causing you to trip. The owner did cover one side with roofing material and said to bring a flashlight, but when they were covered in snow, they were scary to go down. Both my husband and I slipped several times.

With all that being said, it was still a great stay.

Tips for future guests:

Take your own firewood (theirs would not burn), have a flashlight and non slip shoes, watch your dogs on the gated porch (there is a hole that they can escape through), bring an actual map (the roads were very difficult to navigate, especially when you ran into signs that said “gps wrong, turn around”), take extra paper products, and visit Gatlinburg! It was truly beautiful... The Ober provided an amazing view and The Alamo was a great place to eat/drink.

Would of been nice to have another roll of toilet paper. We left 3 rolls there for the next folks. 2 window blinds were broke. Very peaceful. Enjoyed sitting on the deck and the hot tub.

This cabin was perfect. Thank you for allowing our family tp stay in your beautiful home.

We loved the view and the decore was perfect.

Just a few notes to the owner or rental agency.

The master bedroom French door leaks a lot of cold air. It seems as though the frame needs adjusting. Also my wife's suggestion is to add a small wire rack behind the door for food storage. And the stairs are very dark at night maybe a motion light in that area.

To all readers by all means this is just informational to the owner and in no way is a bad review.
