Lovely Lake Michigan Vacation
We had a relaxing & fun experience from our stay in an in teresting Our experience in the house & the beautiful surrounding area was relaxing & fun. The house held all the provisions we could ask for, it was spacious & clean, with nice decor. Comfortable beds, easily fit the 5 of us & all the appliances & lights worked well. There was even a gift basket waiting for us in the kitchen. The short walk to the beach was quiet & scenic, then to an amazing view of the lake. We had a wonderful time.

Enjoyable stay at the Schoolhouse
We were very pleased with this house. The main (1st floor) living area is spacious - a modern kitchen with open space that leads to a large dining area. Next to it is the living room which is very large, with a sofa/TV/DVD area plus other sitting/reading areas. And a master BR w/queen. Upstairs has 2 BRs, each with two beds but not much else. The full baths on both floors are modern and a comfortable size. The house has a large yard. Houses are spaced out in the neighborhood, but neighbors are accessible (we even got to know the nearby golden retriever and his owner). The house is incredibly stocked with everything imaginable, and the items are new or in good condition. This includes dishes, pots/pans, a variety of cooking machines (breadmaker, toaster, etc.), toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, and many others), and even condiments (salad dressing, butter, many spices ...). The 3 modern higher-sitting beach chairs and small umbrella were especially useful to us - not too heavy and opened and closed easily. It should be clear to any person planning to stay here that there is no wifi, and no cell signal (we have AT&T and TMobile service). We adjusted to this and connected by driving a few minutes away (stopping our car at the point we got a signal) or just using the wifi in my sister's rental, a restaurant, etc. Although we are 3 working people, we didn't greatly miss the wifi - in fact it forced us to really disconnect, which was the plan for the week. But the lack of cell service did make communication with family members more difficult. There is a landline phone but it can only receive calls, or make 800 calls or calls to the local area code. The beach is a 10 minute walk (I was told 5 minutes, but it takes longer), straight down the street of the house. There's also a parking lot there which is always near-empty. There are a lot of stones on the beach, especially near the water, but there are also sandy parts with no stones. The water was cold and probably is too cold to swim in (except for the adventurous) for most of the year - but still, you get sunsets every night and there are miles of other beaches on Lake Michigan (like an ocean, without the salt!) nearby. While there is no local recycling pickup, you can leave recycling in the garage, and/or drop it off in a nearby city (e.g. Onekama behind the Blue Slipper Tavern). And lastly, Paul as the owner is accessible, responsive, and honest, and can provide a lot of details

Great place to stay.
The weather wasn’t perfect but the house was excellent, as was the location. We all enjoyed our stay and would recommend this rental highly.

Wonderful stay!
My friends and I had a wonderful stay at the schoolhouse. Location was excellent and communication with Paul was wonderful. Had some minor issues with a mouse in the house that they were working on, and a minor plumbing issue that was fixed while we were there.

We have been vacationing in the Pierport area since 1967. We have some family in the area.

Why they chose this property

There is very little traffic on the road near the house, very quiet, short walk to Lake Michigan. If you get up early, you will have a chance to see deer, and wild turkeys. You are a short distance from Manistee, Frankfort, Traverse City. with plenty of things to do in the area.

What makes this property unique

Near Lake Michigan, Quiet, nicely appointed house, feels like home
