Beautiful Cabin Surrounded By Lake Views And Forest In The North Woods Of Wi

Bedrooms 5
Space 260 m²
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

4 Bedrooms + Bunk Room W/ Kitchenette, 2 Bathrooms, With Beautiful Shoreline

If you are looking to get away to the sun dappled north Wisconsin woods for a family vacation, friend get-together or private retreat, wake up in our cozy cabin on the lake. This is a pristine place to get away and relax, boat, fish, swim, kayak, paddle board or take a walk or boat ride to watch the sun set over the water.

The cabin has been designed with many amenities and places to gather with loved ones, and friends, including the living area, kitchen and extended deck. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds, 1 with a full size bed, and 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds, as well as a finished bunk room with a kitchenette, futons, bunk beds, and floor space for air mattresses. There is also a pull out couch double bed in the living area. There are many scenic areas outside for tents or campers.

The kitchen has brand new appliances including an induction stove, convection oven, microwave, refrigerator with ice/water dispenser, plus a small mini fridge under the counter.

The basement bunk room, with kitchenette, also has a refrigerator, and both kitchens are stocked with many handy cooking utensils.

There is a gas grill with an outside burner, as well as a electric smoker available to use. We have a fire pit and fish cleaning station outside as well as plenty of parking.

We have a large area to sit down by the lake, or in the lake on benches that can be put in the water. Upper Eau Claire Lake is a chain of lakes with so much to do. There are many smaller lakes that can be accessed with a pontoon boat, or kayak or paddle board. There is an island with a sandbar just across the lake with level camping/campfire area, as well as a panoramic lookout area on top of the hill which is only accessible by boat - great place to hang out and read, throw a ball to the dog or play in the water.

Loon Landing is a stargazers dream as the secluded location makes for a clear view of the night sky. In the Fall, the views are sublime with many fun places to hike and see the leaves change color, like Copper Falls, or Bayfield.

In the winter, everything becomes still. The views of the lake are breathtaking as the barren snow covered ice surrounds you on all sides. The scene is truly majestic, and one you must see to believe. With so many fun ice activities including ice skating, hiking across the lake or ice fishing, our cabin is a winter wonderland. The inside will be kept cozy warm with a wood burning stove as well as hydronic heat.

We are centrally located to so many other fun things in Northwest Wisconsin such as Bayfield (< 1 hr), or Copper Falls (< 1 hr), Hayward (30 min), Cable (20 min), Superior/Duluth (1 hr). You can tube down the Namekagon River, or kayak the Brule River, just a short ride away with rentals available. Closer by the cabin hang out and swim at the falls between Middle and Lower Eau Claire Lakes, or hit one of the local golf courses. There are also many snowmobile and ATV trails around the area, as well as a shooting range five miles away.

Beautiful Spacious Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin with plenty of room for everyone. But there are also separate living spaces with their own TV's as well. 9 of us went for an adult snowmobile trip and had a blast. The trails were very well groomed in the area, but the home was a little far from the trail and you had to ride a combination the road/ditch for a little bit. But not a big deal, we would definitely stay there again.

Perfect family vacation a Loon Landing...we loved it.

  • 5 of 5

We chose the coldest days of the year, but that didn't stop us from enjoying this lovely spot. There were 15 of us all ages, from 10-70. With the 4 bedrooms and bunk room, there was more than enough room to spread out, play games and nap. The house was clean and well stocked. We lacked nothing! A big thank you to the owners. You are very lucky to live is such a beautiful part of Wisconsin.

Such a beautiful and cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent Christmas at Loon Landing Cabin and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was perfect for or large family because the living space and kitchen were all open and connected. The house is facing the lake with lots of windows. The wood burning stove was an awesome extra feature! Kitchen is full of every pot, pan and appliance you could imagine and even a lot of staple foods and spices! The town is quaint, friendly townspeople. Highly recommended!

Peaceful beauty

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week at Loon Landing! Eleven members of our family spanning four generations laughed a lot, played a lot and, not surprisingly for our family, ate a lot. Several of the early risers were able to enjoy the incredible sunrises together. The sun rising over the mist-shrouded water was so peaceful. We also loved hanging out at the fire pit at night. S'mores, s'mores and more s'mores. Yum! The moon shining bright over the water was not too shabby either. Hobo lunches (potatoes, vegetables and ground beef wrapped in foil and cooked over the hot coals of the fire pit) made for a fun and tasty lunch.

We loved the lake. It was perfect for tubing. The kids had an absolute ball doing that. So did a few of the adults. We had a good time fishing, even though we did not catch many fish. Several others just enjoyed cruising around the beautiful lake. We also had fun using the kayaks and the paddle board. A day trip to Duluth and Gooseberry Falls, along with a couple of visits to Hayward were also highlights of our week. Don't miss the ice cream at West's Dairy in Hayward. We sure didn't!

The house was very comfortable and had more than enough room. There are many distinct areas where family members can gather - the kitchen island, the dining room and adjacent sitting area, the living room couches in front of the television, the downstairs den, the very spacious deck and the fire pit. The kitchen had pretty much anything we needed. We also used the gas grill several evenings. Very convenient.

Ann was extremely helpful through the entire process, from our initial questions prior to booking and throughout the week of our stay. It is obvious that the cabin is not merely a rental property for Ann and Ted. The pictures on the walls, the personalized coffee mugs, the humorous "Zess Fest" plaque on the deck and the many other personal touches offer glimpses into family gatherings past. Our family left with many warm memories. We hope we are able to make even more memories at this beautiful home in the future. Thank you Ann and Ted!

Owner's Response: We cannot thank you enough for your wonderful review. We are so glad you "got it" as we do and we are happy to share with our guests. We have been to other VRBO's which are very sterile and rental like - we did not want to turn our place into that. Thanks also for sharing what you enjoyed doing while you were here, which gives us and others some great ideas of other places to visit while here. Ann & Ted

About Owner/Property Manager

Ted and I have been married since 1988 and have three kids who have grown up spending vacations at this cabin since they were born. Family gatherings with cousins, Aunts and Uncles and friends (+friends of friends) have become a time honored tradition with our favorite memories being made here. We come from East Troy, Wisconsin where we both went to High School, went away to college and came back to raise our family and run our engineering business. We are very active in our community and love to get away to "our cabin".

Owner/Property Manager purchased this cabin in 1992

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Solon Springs

Ted and Ann purchased this property in 2015 from Ann's parents who bought it in 1992. The entire cabin was remodeled in 2007 adding a walk-out basement, a laundry area, more bedrooms, bigger living area and large kitchen with plenty of cupboard and counter space. The deck was made twice as big in 2015 to accommodate our many guests.

What makes this cabin unique

We love this area and our location on the lake. We are on a peninsula with lake views from the sitting/reading area all around. We are in a secluded location and have a beautiful point with fire pit to look out at the lake. With a few easy steps you are on a sandy beach, with access to a beautiful island on the lake as well as many sandbars. The lake is incredibly clean and quiet for a lake this size with access by kayak and paddle board to many side lakes. There are also great fishing spots all around our little bay as well as many areas on this lake.

Car: necessary

We are located 25 miles from Hayward. Hayward has wonderful shopping and gift shops, coffee shops, ice cream shops, as well as grocery stores and liquor stores. The Namekagon River is a great place to tube or canoe. The Brule River is a great river to Kayak, or canoe, and is approx a 25 mile drive. There is also a lock and dam between Middle Eau Claire and Lower Eau Claire Lakes, about a 5 min drive and is one of the last operating manual lock systems in Wisconsin. It is a great place to swim under the falls.
