About Wendy Lynam

I moved to Greenville from Chicago in 2005 in search of a better climate and quality of life. Greenville has exceeded my requirements. We are a very cosmopolitan Southern city and have so much in the way of restaurants, culture, shopping, and natural beauty in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

One of our crowned jewels is the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, a 19+ mile paved bike/running/walking trail.

Two years ago I started renting my properties on VRBO. I own the Swamp Rabbit Inn in downtown Greenville SC, a six-bedroom, bike friendly inn. #596004 I also own The Furman Cottage #625099. We like to furnish in IKEA.

I began cycling in 2012 and enjoy the excellent riding we have all over Greenville. I recently published a guidebook called 'Cycling Greenville' that has 20 great rides in Greenville County from the bike path to road rides to mountain biking.

I am a real estate investor and agent and recently received my real estate license. I focus mainly on downtown Greenville urban living (condos) but if you are considering a move to the area I would be happy to point you in the right direction. Please feel free to email me or call me with questions about relocating to Greenville. I have raised my family here for 10 years so I have knowledge about schools and activities for children as well as insight into good neighborhoods and investments.

I look forward to welcoming you to Greenville and I am here to help you get the most out of your visit so please reach out for recommendations and with your questions.

Hope to see you soon!

Why Wendy Lynam chose Greenville

This property sits on 11 serene acres at the base of Paris Mountain, just outside the north gate of Furman University and a few feet from the Swamp Rabbit Trail. I thought this property would make a great gathering spot for cycling groups, families and friends attending weddings or events at Furman University and those who wanted to hike or mountain bike Paris Mountain. Just 1-1/2 miles from Travelers Rest, this is a quaint little town with a lot to do.

What makes this lodge unique

This lodge has large gathering rooms, 5 bedrooms down a hall and a game room in the basement. The outside areas include a grill and a hot tub and nature trail. This property sits on the same property as The Furman Cottage #625099 if you would like to rent both for large groups.

Total Solar Eclipse!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the lodge for a large group to see the total solar eclipse. This house was perfect- and everyone was amused that we had a Jetsons themed house for the eclipse! We had about 25 people who stayed the night and there were beds for everyone! Having 4 bathrooms with 4 showers was very helpful with all of these people! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and bake with, and the grill was used more than once. There was ample seating inside and outside so we could all spread out and a couple different table-top games were going on before and after the eclipse hours. And it was a perfect place to view the eclipse- the patio area, the driveway and the grassy areas were perfect for us to spread our lawn chairs out and enjoy the eclipse together. Later, many people enjoyed a dip in the hot tub while some of us took advantage of the walking trail nearby. The only thing we would have changed was we needed more refrigerator space! Luckily many of us had coolers to keep additional food in. Thanks for a very memorable weekend!

Bed Needs Fulfilled

  • 5 of 5

We were happy to find this location and it fulfilled our needs for accommodating several people at one location. Not a lot of frills, but perfect for what we needed. Several separate beds is difficult to find in Greenville and this property had it. Thank you to the owners for the ease of check-in/check-out and providing what we needed for our short stay.

Perfect for our large, extended-family stay

  • 5 of 5

We needed a place where three of our grown children, their spouses, and nine grandchildren could stay with us for the wedding week of our youngest son. We used the bunk rooms for the children and grandparents, then the three married couples had their own private rooms.

Linens and towels were provided with plenty and to spare even for all 18 of us. There was also plenty of toilet paper, but we had to get our own paper towels and liquid soap.

The large kitchen was a good size for serving meals together. We did bring our own folding children's table and chairs and a high chair for the littlest ones since the high bar chairs were too treacherous. But, we knew that ahead of time and were able to accommodate ourselves. The weather was not conducive to entertaining outside, so we brought one of the outdoor tables and chairs into the kitchen, which also worked out very well.

By using the extra folding chairs stashed in one of the closets, there was plenty of room to even have a few extra guests come in to visit the family while we were there.

A few suggestions:

There was no coffee maker other than two Keurig machines, so if you prefer making it by the pot, you will need to bring your own.

If you are cooking for a crowd, there are large bowls and an electric griddle. Though they were very nice, the pots and pans provided would not have been large enough, so I was glad I had brought a large pot, roasting pan, and baking sheet for the meals we planned. Two of our daughters brought crockpots, which also helped with preparing for our bunch. There is also a blender. The two-slot toaster was too small for so many of us, but we got by. There is an outdoor gas grill, but we didn't use it. The grates needed to be cleaned, and we weren't sure how much propane was in the tanks.

The beds in the bunk rooms are foam mattresses, which someone who prefers a hard mattress might find very uncomfortable. The bottom bunks are also very close to the ground. If you have older people coming to stay, you might consider they may not be able to get in or out of the bunk room beds very well. There are, however, three other rooms with regular beds from which to choose.

In conclusion, I would say again that this was the perfect house for accommodating our large family and extended family for five nights. If we had no other choice but to get hotel rooms, we would have never been able to enjoy one another's company as we did at the Swamp Rabbit Lodge.

Perfect for a BIG family

  • 5 of 5

My siblings and I planned a 3-day weekend of fun, food and family at the Swamp Rabbit Lodge in Sept 2017. We were limited to rentals that could accommodate 18-20 people without feeling crowded. The Swamp Rabbit Lodge slept everyone comfortably, had MORE full baths than we were expecting and enough common area and patio space for us to spread out and relax. It was very CLEAN and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and serve 22 people except food.

Greenville is awesome! Tons to do

Ample parking and outdoor space

Walking Trail in the woods out back if you're adventurous

Enough beds for a small army/ family reunion

The Swamp Rabbit Trail is also walking distance from the front door and takes you past Furman and on towards downtown with some cool stops along the way. Bike Rentals are inexpensive and locally sourced food and grocery places are along the path so you can stop for water, lunch, beer, etc. We convinced teenagers to put down their phones long enough to ride bicycles! We loved this trip and The Swamp Rabbit Lodge was a big part of it.
