Peaceful and scenic villa for families and large groups
Our family group of 9 stayed at Ana and Antonio's place for a week in September. They were great hosts, meeting us nearby to help us find the villa when we checked in, and responsive to requests and questions. They helped arrange a welcome meal cooked by local chefs on the first night which was a nice touch.
The house itself is spacious and comfortable, with a huge kitchen for communal cooking and space for eating indoors and outdoors. Beds were comfortable with ensuite bathrooms. Outside, there is a beautiful pool and lots of places to relax with a book and enjoy the views over the Arrabida national park.
The house is set in several acres of property which is nice for a short walk, but unfortunately longer walks are difficult due to the number of fences and gates blocking access (despite it being in a national park). A car is a must, and there are some fantastic walks and beaches within a short (~20 minute) drive. The local town (Azeitao) is small but has restaurants and a couple of interesting wineries to tour.
We had very few complaints with our stay. One suggestion would be to let guests know what they need to stock up on before arriving (the kitchen was short of some key supplies when we got there). Another heads up for North American guests: no window screens! so mosquitoes can be a nuisance.
Thank you again Ana and Antonio for your hospitaliy!
