Hi! And thanks for stopping by the Beach Bungalow. During each year, I personally use the Beach Bungalow as an owner occupied home and as a vacation home. By living in the home, I can assure you that everything you need to enjoy life at the beach is at your fingertips. From beach chairs to kayaks to a hot tub to white sand, this house is the epitome of life at the beach.
Catherine McCoy purchased this bungalow in 2006
This home is on the north facing beach of the Chesapeake Bay ... calm, lappinp waves and completely uncrowded beaches. Whether you're driving or flying, getting here is easy.
Stairs to the beach! Hot tub! Kayaks! Wi-fi! Spacious private deck!
Dear Cate and Tom,
Reason being I have held off writing a review is purely selfish. I'm afraid that people will read this and book all of the times available so that we can not get in again in the future!
Not sure where to begin but here goes- The pictures of the "Beach Bungalow" are exactly the way it looks in person. Talk about immaculate. We were all very impressed with the details exuding hominess and the cleanliness as well. When they say there is everything there for a worry free vacation they mean it. We loved waking up and making breakfast, lunch and then grilling up dinner. The massive private beach is only a 30 second walk. We were happily surprised that the sand/dunes is literally right outside of the beach door. Doesn't show that in the pics on VRBO. While the beds could use a little upgrading we didn't have much trouble sleeping soundly after spending the day on the beach. We left behind some spices and cooking oils that we brought but felt compelled to leave them for the next lucky vacationers there. Cate and Tom, it was a true pleasure meeting you on our last day as we were packing up to depart. Your warmth and charm in your bungalow is obviously a reflection of yourselves. I would like to make a few suggestions: Applying window treatments in the yellow guest room. The way the sun settles it is sometimes too bright (nap time), and it does get very warm in there. The window treatments on the parlor windows would be perfect in there! Next, being foodies we are used to sharpen knives. Perhaps a knife sharpener? Also perhaps a small household hammer (nails needed to be hammered in on the picnic table next to fire pit). You may also want to check out little hidden wasps nest up in the corner of the eaves downstairs and up. Saw a couple but nothing that we were bothered with. All in all, everyone of us was blown away with your beach bungalow and yes Cate and Tom, we will be back! If there's any availability after this review.... gosh darn it!
It was a nice relaxing stay, so comfortable, warm and welcoming.
Cate was great to work with, very responsive. Everything with the home was as described in the posting. We could not believe how empty the beach was. The bay changed from gentle lapping waves, good for kayaking to.boggie boarding waves. The family got to spend a lot of time together without being disturbed. We loved Piglet too!
The house was an absolute dream! I would most definitely go back if I was given the opportunity, the neighbors were funny and marvelous people. But if there was one thing I could fix on the house it would be the door leading into the salmon room, otherwise it was a 10/10 relaxing stay. So many places to go sightseeing, you just had to catch the right temperature to do everything! The private beach was a true paradise being able to go down and read a book with your fellow dolphins, the water was so warm that you could walk right in and never want to get out! Beware the ghost crabs for they could pinch your feet and run away! The fish are very friendly and comfortable with you so much that they swim right up to you.
We missed stay here this summer. Our 2015 & 2016 vacation were great. We highly recommend!
Our family had the most amazing time here. Everything was neat & tidy and plenty of room for the 5 of us. We couldn't of asked for a better view of the Chesapeake Bay and the beach was perfect! The Forth of July was amazing with fireworks 360 degrees all around us. There was plenty to do in the area. The free public concert was an extra special highlight for my husband & myself.
Great location for either a truly relaxing at the beach vacation or a center point to visit dozens of great attractions in the area 5 to 45 minutes (and only 3.5 hours south of Washington DC!)
