About this property

Custom Lake Norman cottage on private road, built in 2012. Modern, private.

Pease read the entire description, and feel free to reach out with any questions after. (From April 1st-Sept 1st we are only accepting Saturday- Saturday rentals.) Lucky Cove Cottage, our family's custom lakefront house is the perfect getaway for those seeking privacy, an open modern interior and a house constructed with quality rather than quantity as a priority. Built using the latest in energy efficient technologies, our cottage is cozy, quiet and full of light with the lake facing side full of glass to take in the waves or enjoy the sunset.

if you change the tv from its proper setting we will do our best to help youThe TV has 2 remotes. There are instructions for use. Pretty simple.

The house is lined with white pine interior, giving a warm glow and a wonderful acoustic character and the smell of white pine. The master bedroom balcony overlooks the living room which has a 24 ft ceiling. The small footprint gives an intimate feel, while having three levels allows people private space for contemplation.

Great blue heron, owls, osprey, deer, bass and garr are daily visitors to our cove. Our dock is protected from the sun until after noon each day and is a great space to have coffee in the morning or cocktails while enjoying the sunset.
Easy access to our small beach to launch our kayaks, canoe or sailboat, all available for your use. Several boat ramps nearby for larger craft and boat rental is only a five minute drive.
Our dock will accommodate up to a 28 ft boat and is protected from large wave action from almost every direction. It is only a couple minutes motoring from the main channel and the best part of Lake Norman.

We do not rent at the monthly rate during peak season since we our cottage stays fully booked, but you can rent multiple weeks at the weekly rate during summer season.

This house is not your average rental and is not appropriate for parties, and is not available for rentals that involve larger groups sharing weekends over a longer period, i.e. 4 couples rent for a month and each use for a separate weekend. If you have very rambunctious children you may find protecting the interior finish and furniture problematic. We expect our guests to treat our house and our neighbors with care and respect.

Our house is on a private road. Please don't drive further down our road than our driveway, instead use our driveway to turn around to respect our neighbors further down the roads privacy. Please park only on our property and not along the fence along the private road.

Our cottage has:
One king bed in the master on the third floor.
One full bed and one bunk bed on the first floor.
We do whatever we can to make this a relaxing experience for you and your family. We provide the extras so that it is not nessasary to pack the car to the rim. Paper towels, toilet paper, laundry and dish soap, linens and towels, beach towels, life preservers, propane, trash bags enough for normal use for one week are included. Typically there is a good selection of spices, cooking oil, coffee filters. Ice trays are provided, there is no ice maker.
We are very happy to answer any questions you may have after you read the complete listing.
After booking we will need to speak to renters directly by phone to insure that the rules of the house are clearly understood. We also will need a copy of the drivers license and the make and license tag of vehicles and a list of guest staying before arrival. We reserve the right to cancel any booking if this is not completed or if we determine that the party does not conform to our policies. Parties larger than 5 are possible but we will need to discuss this before booking. Thats a lot so thank you for reading!

Please note that the VRBO lists average nightly rate is an average of the entire year and does not reflect seasonal variability in price. Enter your dates to see an accurate cost per days. The TV has 2 remotes. Also, there are instructions for use. Pretty simple. Some people, less technically adept like us, have inadvertently change source or input and been unable to get it back to proper setting. If the settings don't get changed there is no problem. We try to fix any problem that arrises but by phone, but will not be able to drive the 2 hours round trip to reset the tv. It has happened. Just want to be clear. Thank you!

Peaceful retreat
I needed a positive environment to recover from surgery, and this house was near perfect. The numerous windows allowed me to enjoy the view of the water and trees from sunrise to sunset. On warmer days I sat on a porch rocker to commune with all sorts of birds. The house house its quirks - Ikea appliances require consulting instructions - but I ended up quite happy with the kitchen once I figured it out. The owner is incredibly responsive, and personally came by to replace a leaking toilet within hours of being notified. The neighbors seem a bit close at times, but are friendly and helpful. I felt completely safe in the area, and met more folks on my many walks along Shipps Lane. My suggestions for improvement would be: level up the front steps for safety, and possibly add graphics/labels to the light switches. For off-season indoor dwelling, a few more reading lamps & couch pillows (just basics from Target) would be nice in the living area. In summary, I was grateful to have spent 4 weeks at this special house. I would love to visit again during kayaking weather!

Beautiful cottage
We loved everything about this place. Michael was so responsive and accommodating with any questions we had, which were only a minor couple of questions. The place was clean and views of the lake were spectacular. Several fun hang out areas to choose from. We rented a pontoon from nearby Safe Harbor and it was super easy to dock at the cottage. We cooked a couple of meals there and the kitchen had everything we needed. We highly recommend this cottage!

A great week on the lake
Mike went out of his way to make sure we had everything our family of four needed to ensure a fun and relaxing stay. The location is great -- out there, but still close enough to the conveniences of civilization.

We met racing sailboats against each other here on Lake Norman. We own a craft beer and wine store/taproom in Charlotte and are a water family with a strong attachment to our lake and our environment. We are raising our daughter, a budding sailor, born in 2010 to appreciate and care about our world and live life to the fullest.7047799867

Why they chose this property

This is a house for boaters! I found this property in 2001 and purchased it with plans to build. I was a professional sailor and this house was built to help alleviate the "land sickness" I experienced after moving back to Charlotte full time. After years of design changes we completed our cottage in 2012. We seem to find less and less time to use our cottage so we rent it out to people who will appreciate and use it with care as we do.

What makes this property unique

This house is perfect for nature lovers and people who appreciate thoughtful design and energy efficiency. A perfect house for contemplation, and quality time with small groups. Although there are houses on both sides you really feel tucked away due to the natural state of the grounds.
