Sited on 12 acres with 300 feet of private, pristine shoreline, private sandy beach and lawns gently sloping down to the lake’s shore, Chanterwood is set on a knoll overlooking Goose Pond, the Berkshire's premier lake. Goose Pond is renowned for its crystal clear waters and yet, quite often, only 2-3 boats take advantage on hot, summer days! While privacy abounds, Chanterwood is centrally located near the Tyringham/Lee border convenient to shops, highways, restaurants, and world-renowned festivals like Tanglewood.

Chanterwood sits on Lower Goose Pond, perfect for water skiing, tubing, wake-boarding, and more! If a slower pace is desired, Upper Goose Pond is a short kayak paddle away (2 are included) where a 5mph speed limit insures peacefulness and serenity in a northern Maine-like setting.

The renowned Chanterwood Inn, first opened in the early 1900’s and served generations of guests for decades. The shingle-styled lodge recently completed a multi-phase, decade long renovation and expansion that purposefully transformed the estate into the ultimate lakefront retreat for the 21st century.

Chanterwood warmly accommodates small or extended families and includes 4 master bedrooms (6 bedrooms total) including a master bedroom on the lower level with its own private entrance - ideal for a nanny or a full-time chef. The lower level can also be configured with an elliptical trainer and weight lifting machines for those guests staying an entire season. The wraparound front porch beckons you to enter and immediately you are set at ease by the warm, century-old fir floors, white millwork, and a casual, yet sophisticated floor plan that lends itself perfectly to life in the country with family and friends. This is an expansive, nearly 6,000 sq. ft. home with the luxuries one expects today in a lakefront estate, and the comfort, casualness and intimacy of a 100-year old lodge.

The spacious floor plan provides for an effortless flow from room to room. The gracious entry hall speaks to the 100-year old roots of the lodge. The first floor master bedroom with ensuite bath provides accessible quarters for friends and family. The reading room, with a fireplace, provides for more casual living.

The heart of a home of this caliber today is the Great Room, and this one is exceptional. By day, you are surrounded by walls of windows with vistas that stretch out over the lake just below, resulting in superior, distant views, privacy and tranquility. A 40 foot wide deck opens off the Great Room and is the perfect place to watch the bald eagles and osprey feed while enjoying a morning coffee. A fieldstone fireplace with antique beam mantle and bluestone hearth anchors the room, and the wet bar is a nod to the heritage of the property.

Night or day, a press of a button and the Great Room is transformed into your own personal cinema. Simultaneously, the high definition projector and 110” screen drop from where they were concealed in the distinctive coffered ceiling, the lights dim and the Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound immerses you in the evening’s entertainment.

Through the French doors from the Great Room you enter a large kitchen and adjoining sunroom with inspiring lake views. The antique floors are a warm counterpoint to the ample granite counter space, and professional grade stainless steel appliances, including a 48” gas range top with griddle, and double convection ovens. Friends and family can join the chef as there is a large island with seating and in the sunroom ample space for a large table, as well as additional seating. Designed for entertaining, yet intimate enough for casual everyday life on the lake.

There are double master suites on the second floor, four bedrooms in all on the second level with three full baths. On one end of the lodge there is a large master with a private entrance and its own lake view deck. While at the lake end of the home, step up to a quiet sanctuary with views over your grounds, the lake, and the mountains beyond. This master bath is complete with a Jacuzzi tub and a custom shower for two. A practical laundry room rounds out the second floor.

A private entrance, from both the wraparound porch or off the entry hall takes you down a set of rich fir stairs to an over sized master bedroom with ten foot ceilings and polished, stained concrete floors and large screen television. A wall of windows and doors brings the outside in and offers even more exceptional lake views. There is also a full bathroom and walk-in closet.
