Photos and Description of the Downtown vacation house rental

2 bd 1 ba rowhouse w/loft. Adjoins park. Perfect for vacation or corporate use.

The 1860's 2 1/2 story brick rowhouse, completely rehabbed in 2014, features the comfort, convenience and safety of a new home where you can nestle in and chill out for a quiet weekend, or 'Vacation Central,' a home base from which to explore Frederick and a region filled with some of the country's most historic sites.

Attractively and comfortably appointed, the house is designed and furnished to be flexible to meet the needs of vacationers or corporate tenants. It features a living room, dining room and kitchen on first floor. An office space, laundry closet, queen bedroom, full bath and a flex room (single bedroom or second office) occupy the second floor. The third floor loft is a comfortable casual family game room or third office space with a big desk situated under a skylight. The room has fold-out sleeping accommodation for two. A fenced, landscaped back garden with stone patio and fountain makes guests as comfortable outside as in.

The house is next to Carroll Creek Park, the jewel at the center of Frederick's historic downtown, lined with restaurants, sidewalk cafes, walking and biking paths. Carroll Creek Park links to Mullinix and Baker Parks, with their diverse recreational amenities, including well-maintained pools, tennis courts, children's playground, amphitheaters, picnic tables, and an adult recreation and fitness center, all within 2-4 blocks.

Visitors with access to MARC can arrive by train and walk the three blocks from the downtown MARC station along Carroll Creek to Creekside House to try small city living without a car. If it's summertime, they can enjoy the fountains and waterlilies in the creek as they stroll. Visitors with cars can store their vehicles in the parking deck a half block away. There is no parking on site.

It is a half block to the Courthouse, a block and a half to City Hall, and a block west and south of the main intersection of the downtown. The theater district is just steps away around the corner, and the arts centers, museums, and downtown boutiques and dining are within easy walking distance. Frederick has tens of wonderful restaurants to tempt your palate: VOLT!, AYSE Meze Lounge, The Tasting Room, Pissarro's, and many more.

Sorry, but no smoking in or on the property, and no pets permitted.

Creekside House has a great central location, within easy walking distance of boutique and antique shopping, theaters, museums, restaurants, Hood College and recreational facilities. The MARC train and bus stations are three blocks away.

Frederick is approximately 45 miles west of Baltimore along Interstate 70, and 45 miles northwest of DC along Interstate 270. Visitors with private planes can arrive at Frederick Municipal Airport, home base for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

If history is your thing, Frederick is your place! Whether staying close to Creekside House and exploring local museums and historic sites, or choosing a central location from which to make day trips to Gettysburg, Antietam, and Civil War sites in northern Virginia, perhaps topped off by taking the train into Union Station to visit the Smithsonian, a vacation in Frederick offers enough interest and variety to please most folks.

You might be surprised to learn that Frederick was the home of the country's first president (and he wasn't George Washington!) In November 1781, John Hanson became the first President of the United States in Congress Assembled, under the Articles of Confederation. Washington visited-- and Lafayette, and Francis Scott Key, and Barbara Fritchie, and Lincoln, and Jubal Early.

Frederick was a 'jumping off place' where travelers and explorers outfitted and prepared to cross the Allegheny Mountains to settle the west, for they could follow the Potomac to its headwaters and after crossing a few miles of the Eastern Continental Divide, enter the headwaters of streams which carried them to the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. The Lewis and Clark expedition took on provisions here.

Sports enthusiasts can stroll less than a mile south on Market St. to take in a Frederick Keys game at Harry Grove Stadium. The Class A Minor league team is an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Skiers from the DC and Baltimore areas can make a short 35 minute hop to Ski Liberty.

Or they can bring their clubs and sign up for a tee time at Clustered Spires, the municipal course less than 3 miles away with a 4-star rating from Golf Digest. Real golf addicts could stay for two weeks and play a different course in Frederick County every day.

The City and County provide bicyclists with wonderful opportunities for rides at many skill and endurance levels, and maps showing routes are available at the Tourism Center across from the MARC station, or at Some of the tours are 'themed,' featuring Civil War sites or the C&O canal, or covered bridges, for example. A short bicycling video is at

Combine history and easy hiking in tours of The C&O canal or the Monocacy Battlefield, or challenge yourself a bit more on the Appalachian Trail or trails in Catoctin Mountain Park or Gambrill State Park. Easiest of all is to take one of the history tours of Frederick's downtown.

Frederick County is well-endowed with streams and rivers. Fishing in our mountain streams or canoeing or kayaking on the Monocacy or Potomac Rivers are great ways to relax and recharge your batteries while enjoying nature.
