About Steve Aaker

Originally from Seattle area, work took us to Montana. My wife and I got tired of the cold. searched for year looking for just the right place. not really city people, the property here in north Scottsdale fit us the best. Some of the worlds best Horse trainers are just a couple miles away, as we are into Reining Horses, and my wife competes all over the U.S. The drive in can be a little bumpy at times, but once you are here, the dessert beauty and quiet makes you forget. We live next door in the main house with our Son and 2 small dogs and one large dog. they are very friendly, and only bark to sound tuff. Its hard to beat the Arizona, weather, people, and activities right in our back yard.

Steve Aaker purchased this bungalow in 2012

Why Steve Aaker chose Rio Verde Foothills

We chose this property, as we are country folks, who need room. This property had a small barn, and 2.8 acres, and we have fenced and did lots of upgrades. What was the biggest selling point for us, is once relaxing in the back yard, you see no other houses, only a great view of 4 peaks. seems like we are all alone out here.

What makes this bungalow unique

It did not take long to find out that living out here had huge benefits. we immediately bought RZR's, (UTV's) and Quads, and a bass boat, as we can ride the off road vehicles right from our house, almost 3 million acres can accessed from our back door. Lake Saguaro, and lake pleasant are a short drive for some great striper fishing. Trail riding with your horses are as easy as saddling up and going. Lots of biking, weather its Mountain bikes, or road bikes, Rio Verde is a thorough fair for bikes traveling from Cave creek to Fountain Hills, and we are nestled in the middle.

An amazing experience!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a WONDERFUL 10-day stay at this property in March.

The casita was spacious, well-maintained, and nicely furnished.

The property was peaceful and has gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. Watched the sun rise over the Four Peaks every day.

After morning hikes relaxing poolside (and in the pool) was a pleasure.

Off the beaten track, several shops and restaurants are still in easy range.

Steve and Robin are truly hospitable hosts and their two dogs - Copper and Franny - are really lovable.

Really can't say enough good things! Book a reservation, you won't regret it!

Looking forward to coming back soon.

A little piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at the Casita and Steve and Robin were marvelous hosts. During our stay the hot water heater began making a noise and Steve had it replaced the next day. We also greatly enjoyed the Razor ride to the river. Thank you Steve!

The casita is roomy and having pool/patio area outside made it feel even more spacious. The fire pit was a great place to relax in the evening and enjoy the stars. The views of the “four peaks” are even better than the photos and the sunrises are just amazing. There are great hiking/mountain biking trails nearby, and plenty of golf courses in the area for those so inclined. Grocery and restaurants are a few minutes away but not unmanageable.

This casita is very dog friendly. Cooper (our golden retriever) enjoyed meeting Copper and Frannie and stealing their toys. He also greatly enjoyed swims in the pool.

It. Is a little off the beaten path but once you are there it is heaven. The ride in on the unpaved roads can be a little bumpy but not a challenge for most cars. The only challenge we encountered was some difficulty staying connected to WiFi. We were there for a month so this may have been more a concern for us.

We highly recommend the Casita if you are looking a relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle in a location that is breathtaking.

Awesome views, unbelievably nice casita with great people!

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic place to stay, away from everything and its only 30 mins to downtown Scottsdale. The casita is the guesthouse you wished you owned in the foothills of the McDowell Mtns! Its furnishings, kitchen, bath, pool & bedrooms are perfect. The Akers are very nice and welcoming too! Great vacation spot!

Unique and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful location, sunrise over Four Peaks was breathtaking. Casita is comfortable and well-equipped. I especially loved being greeted by two friendly dogs and an amiable house pig. Steve and Robin were warm and helpful, especially when one of our party forgot the key.

Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place! The casita is spacious, modern, clean, and nicely furnished. I would live in it full time if I could! The outdoor space is breathtaking. It is a bit of a drive to civilization (which is exactly what we wanted), but plan your trips to town because it's about a 20 minute drive. The Tonto National Forest is right there, so this place is awesome if you're looking for space to mountain bike, hike, ride horses, or ATV. If we come back to Scottsdale, we will definitely stay with Steve and Robin again!
