About this property

Renovated main-floor unit with lovely patio close to everything

AZ Dept of Revenue TPT Lic. # 21408626

Section 1
Completely renovated in 2014 with recent updates, this unit will accommodate up to six people, but is best suited for four people. I normally occupy the unit personally from November through mid-April; so, this is a fully-functional home with more small appliances and amenities than you would find in most short-term rentals making it very suitable for a business traveler or someone relocating and needing a home for a few months.

This is a quiet end unit that is quite close to the hot tub, but just a minute's walk from the pool. I find this location preferable to many other buildings throughout the complex as it is away from the hustle-and-bustle of the pool. If there's a bit of fun at the hot tub in the evening, you have the option of descending the metal shutter to block out any annoying noise.

Living/Dining Area with dedicated Work Station
The living room has a 55-inch LED Smart TV with a Bose sound bar. There is an advanced Cox cable package that includes Movie and Sports channels, and you can just talk to the remote. There is also a Bose radio with a remote, or touch the top to turn it on and off. For seating, there is a three-seater couch, a two-seater and a big comfortable chair - each seat reclines separately. Hi-speed wifi is also included and there is a four-port USB charging station.

To the right of the entertainment area, there is a work station for your laptop or paperwork. Upon request, for longer stays, a wired laser printer can be made available. If you require use of the printer (and a shredder), please contact us and we will let you know the model number so that you can order a toner cartridge.

The bar-height dining table seats six, with the use of two additional stools at from the breakfast bar.

Kitchen
The kitchen has been beautifully laid out and is well-appointed with dishes and cutlery for six. All the necessities are included, even an ice and water dispenser in the door of the fridge.

We provide Keurig pods and ground coffee for your first morning, and will tailor the pods to your preference for tea or coffee. There is a drip coffee maker in addition to the Keurig one-cup system. There is non-dairy creamer and packets of cane sugar, sugar substitute and honey. If you prefer milk or cream, you'll want to stop at Sprout's across the road or Fry's at Indian School Road and Miller on your way to the unit.

Salt, pepper and a variety of spices are also available, as well as dish-washing liquid and dishwasher tabs (3). The kitchen is also stocked with a limited supply of the following: tin foil, plastic wrap, cooking oil, and cooking spray. Please appreciate that these sundry items are here as a courtesy and convenience, and only meant to get you started, not to last your entire stay. Please note, open containers may be contaminated by previous guests and you use these items at your own risk.

Bedrooms
The master suite has a king-size bed; the guest suite has two full-size beds. Each bedroom has a private bathroom, and a 42-inch LED Smart TV. Each bathroom has a hair dryer; curling iron, bathing and pool towels are supplied. Please ensure that only the red-and-white striped towels are taken to the pool or spa. The solid-colored linens are strictly for use in-house.

The master en suite is a three-piece and the shower has a bench. The guest en suite has a large vanity area with two sinks, and the tub and toilet separated by a door. All of the beds have hypoallergenic mattress pads and the pillows also have pillow protectors which are cleaned regularly. Bedsides have four-port USB charging stations.

The unit is cleaned just before your arrival, including fresh linens obviously. If you desire additional housekeeping services during your stay, my property manager can arrange this for you and you pay the housekeeper directly. A set of extra sheets is supplied for each bed. If you need to use these, there is a $10 surcharge per set for the housekeeper's extra work.

Patio
The fenced ground-floor patio has an automatic screen and a security door which is operated by controls on the wall inside the unit. Please be very careful when descending the screen or shutter because, if they close with something in their way, the damage/repair will require a service call which must be charged back to your security deposit.

The patio is furnished with four comfortable chairs, as well as two loungers. There is a side gate that provides quick access to the hot tub area about a hundred feet away. I had new patio doors installed. The configuration is a center-opening with two doors that gives a six-foot entry, almost making the patio part of the living area itself. These doors are easy to open and close, but you will never want to close them.

The patio also has a wall-mounted fireplace which is operated by remote control or manual switch on the top right-hand corner. Settings include low heat, high heat, just visual, and of course off. The addition of the fireplace on the patio makes this a complete extra room year-round, no matter how chilly an evening may become. Put the roller shade down and you can enjoy it all evening. I have also added a bike stand that will store two bicycles; however, you will need to bring your own locks/chain (and bikes...rentals available in plaza across the street).

Laundry ** price increase pending as of June 2021 **
There are laundry rooms about a minute away on the second and third floors (stairs or elevator) or ramp, and very-reasonably priced. A wash is $1.25; the dryer is a dollar. You will need the security FOB to enter the laundry rooms. Two Tide laundry tabs are provided for your convenience. You will find these in the front bedroom closet. There is also a broom, dustpan, vacuum, wet/dry mop, as well as cleaning products if you need them.

Sundries
We also provide liquid hand soap, air freshener (spray), four rolls of toilet paper, two rolls of paper towels and other sundry items.

Common Areas
Just to the south side of the clubhouse (before you get to the hot tub gate), there are two gas bar-b-ques. Bar-b-que tools can be found in the slim cabinet to the left of the stove (please remember to bring them back). In the pool common area, you will find a ping-pong table; there is also a sauna, a shower, washrooms, and fitness facilities in the clubhouse (cardio on the main floor, weights upstairs). There is also a billiards table on the upper level.

We include plastic wine and drinking glasses for use when outside the condo-proper. Glass is absolutely not permitted in the common areas and we ask that you respect this policy. Taking glass to the pool or spa compounds is a violation which will incur severe monetary penalties. There can be no drinks or food within four feet of the pool or hot tub edge. These areas are monitored by security cameras and you can be identified by the FOBs used when you entered. Fines for violations will be charged back to your security deposit; so, please follow the rules.

Area Information
You will find Sprouts Food Market within an easy (2 or 3-minute) walking distance, just across Miller Avenue; as well, there is a Bread Basket bakery and several restaurants and a sports bar in that same plaza. There is a Fry's Grocery on Miller at Indian Road, about a mile south on Miller (turn left out of the driveway). And there's a CVS Pharmacy across from Fry's.

Cab rides are very inexpensive if you don't want to walk, and the golf-cart shuttles are always available for the trip home. The Miller Road Trolley stops mere steps from our driveway and their phone number and schedule is in an information binder provided in the unit. The Maya Condominium is very close to the entertainment and fashion districts. It is a wonderful community with many activities going on where you will make friends, or you can keep to yourself as you wish.

There are numerous golf courses nearby, car races, spring training, hiking, and walking trails. And there's shopping, lots and lots of shopping to do with Fashion Square so close by.

Please Note:
Our standard check-out time is 10am. This allows staff an opportunity to thoroughly clean and inspect the unit before the next visitor, particularly if someone is arriving later the same day or the next day. If possible, we will accommodate late check-out at a rate of $25US per three hours or part thereof. This must be pre-arranged, preferably at the time of your initial booking, but we will happily work with you to try to accommodate any last-minute arrangements you may need to make.

I have tried to give you all the information that I can think of, but if there's anything else that you need to know, please don't hesitate to ask.

It's very important to us that we provide you with an enjoyable stay, and it's just as important that we do not disrupt our neighbors. Please be polite and respectful to all that you meet, and do not hesitate to let us know if you have any problems. We hope to see you soon.

Great Stay at a fantastic property
First time across the boarder in 16 months and we have stayed at the same complex before but not in this particular suite. Really nice and spacious and the owners go above and beyond with some extras such as bottled water and other amenities. Will definately go back. Great location and great communication from everyone. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

Great place and location.
Our second trip there and we had a great time. We were in the area for baseball tournaments. The condo has everything you need and stores very close by. It was quiet and clean. There were a few issues and the property manager was available to assist.

First time in Arizona, great location
Beautiful condo with all the amenities within walking distance to old town. We enjoyed the beautiful pool during the day and sitting outside on the really nice patio at night. The property manager Stephanie was very helpful and the owner also reached out to us. Thank you Mark, we really enjoyed our stay! Would love to come back again.

Like being at home!
The condo was amazing, everything we could possibly need was provided. Very well stocked with little extras that make the difference. The beds were so comfortable we wanted to bring them home. All linens, towels, etc were very good quality. Lots of comfortable seating, especially the recliner! We love the location, walkable to Old Town with lots of bars and restaurants. Great pool, nice and warm. Great communication with rental agency, very friendly and prompt with answers to questions. This was our third stay in the Maya Condominiums and we will definitely see if this condo is available on our next visit.

About the host

Host profile image
I bought this unit in January 2014 and completely renovated it at that time; recently, I have done some additional updates, including new livingroom furniture. I use it personally during the winter months, but rent it from mid-April until early November.

Why they chose this property

The unit is in the perfect spot of this large, 12-acre property. It is very close to the hot tub, and just far enough away from the pool that you don't hear the noise if it's busy but you're still only a minute's walk to go back and forth.

The Maya complex is very close to everything - golf, shopping, Old Town Scottsdale, Camelback Mountain, hiking, biking. There's little more that you could ask for.

What makes this property unique

The location of the complex is prime, and the location of my particular unit is even more perfect. It is an end unit with a patio. There are very few stairs (just the few steps down from the parking lot), and even those can be avoided if you want to use the ramp. There are many short-term rental units at the Maya; however, because I live here during the winter months, I have a few more amenities than a lot of units. It's truly a home-away-from-home.
