Not a good stay for my family.
We were very disappointed with this rental. Had to endure the smell of a dead mouse in the kitchen area the whole stay. I understand that things happen. I notified them and said we would deal with it and I got no response at all. No im sorry or do you need air fresher, nothing at all. The bedroom downstairs has no AC and only a lamp for lighting however the shower was great. The bedroom by the kitchen was hot from cooking dinner every evening so we had to go buy 2 fans to help cool off. There was only 1 upstairs bathroom and it was between 2 bedrooms which would have been fine if the doors locked. The handles were both loose and about to fall off and couldn't lock one of them. The interior was ok with a nice living room but the outside had not been taken care of. It was only partially mowed, and an old rusty bent up grill grate was laying outside front door. With the price of rentals and fees I just expect better.

Beautiful cabin
Really a cool place to stay. My group liked how big the living area was. The game cabin was a fun place to hangout to play pool and darts. The only thing that might be beneficial is to add a chalkboard near the dart board so that score can be kept. I downloaded an app that kept score so not really an issue, just a thought. Beds were comfortable and we loved the rainfall shower that is downstairs. No cell service but the wifi worked great.

Girls weekend
We had a great time. Cabin was in good condition and clean. Cell service mainly on front porch made it tough to communicate. Would definitely recommend to others.

Why they chose this property

Many stories have filtered down through the ages of how the town of Dougherty received its name. Our favorite and the best one by far is that of a railroad man, by the name of Dougherty. Said man jumped off the train and fell in the mud. A fellow Santé Fe Railway worker shouted out “There lies Dougherty” and voila...

More plausible, is the story that the town was named for early day Texas settler, Bill Dougherty. Perhaps the town was named after the prosperous and prestigious banker from Gainesville Texas, William Dougherty. Regardless of the true version, the common trend is that all stories lead back to the given name Dougherty in 1887.

Canyon Hill Cabin was originally built in the 1930’s and has preserved its little dirt road, also known as Canyon Hill Lane, named by my grandparents Danny and Betty Stephens.

We welcome you to enjoy our little paradise, while exploring local attractions and the waters of the Arbuckles!
