5 bedroom Luxury cabin with a great mountain view!

Bedrooms 5
Space 213 m²
Property type lodge
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

Great view in great neighborhood. Close to the park & convenient to Gatlinburg

Beautiful Luxury 5bd/3bath home with mountain views from 3 levels.

This beautiful log cabin is perfect get-away for family or friends. Sleeps 12 comfortably + a sleeper for up to 2 more: Master bedroom with King, 3 additional bedrooms with Queen beds, a 5th room sleeps 4 with queen over queen bunk bed, and sleeper sofa if needed in living room.

Convenient to Smoky Mountain national part, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge (Dollywood). Short day trip to Cherokee casino or Biltmore House.

Just renovated cabin

Lots to do with pool table in game room, amazing hot tub, lots of rockers for reading and just relaxing, wrap around porch, flat screen TV's in all rooms, and large projector in multimedia room. Lots of wildlife we often see a family of deer and on occasion we will see a black bear and her cubs.

In 2016 we redid the outside of the house and replaced key windows.

Our neighborhood hosts 3 pools, golf course, and for larger events ability to rent space from the neighborhood HOA office at the very top of the mountain.

We purchased this property late last year. Our friends call our remodel a rebuild as we have gutted 3 levels to take this 1970s cabin into the 21st century. it was very trying and everything took longer than expected. We try to continually enhance the property.

Janan & I are already planning phase 2 construction projects after we pay down some of the debt we took on with this renovation and invite our guests to help set the priority of improvements. These include:

1) Removing the lower level bath tub, pushing the wall back a foot or 2 and installing a tiled shower with modern glass instead of shower curtains.

2) Adding a more inviting front entrance. Basically extending a gable out toward the driveway and a little stone work.

3) Upgrading the main level bath with tile and raise the ceiling a touch.

4) level out area on outside area for installation of picnic table & horse shoe pits.

About Ed Tollefsen

We are a family of 3 with aspirations of retiring to the mountains and managing 3 to 5 properties after 2020.

In 2014, we decided to take over the daily management of the property and Janan took over booking and management. We've had a couple hiccups but overall the experience has been delightful. Our hope is that the cabin & your stay in this beautiful city is a lifelong memory.

Ed Tollefsen purchased this lodge in 2014

Why Ed Tollefsen chose Gatlinburg

We bought the property in October 2014 as a distressed foreclosure. We loved the view and the neighborhood and decided to restore this wonderful old cabin. The renovations took a life of their own as it became a bit of a rebuild.

We have enjoyed bringing this 1970's property up to 21st century standards. Our goal has been to bring modern convenience while maintaining a unique country cabin feel.

What makes this lodge unique

Convenient to Smoky Mountain National Forest, Gatlinburg. short drive to Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, and Biltmore Estate.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family spent part of the Christmas holiday at Ed and Janan's home. They are lovely hosts. He promptly answered any questions I had before and during our stay. Their home is lovely, well equipped and very clean. We especially loved the wrap around porches ,looking into the mountains. We would definitely stay here again!

Response from Ed & Janan:

Thanks Tracy it was a pleasure having you. Please come again soon. in fact we are open this weekend :).

It was great to have all 8 of us in one house!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed everything the house had to offer, the hot tub, the pool table, the outside deck, the bbq grill, we used it all! It was so nice to have all 8 of us in one house! Every thing we looked at, we would have had to rent 2 units close to each other. We were all adults celebrating an anniversary and 3 birthdays, it was great! And it was an easy drive to Gatlinburg as well. I would highly recommend this house to anyone with a large family. We were all family from all over the U.S. We cooked all of our meals and we all worked well together. Its a large home, so we all had lots of privacy in our rooms. And because it is 3 stories, we weren't all on top of each other. If we were to do this again in that part of the country, we would definitely book this places again. And the views are phenomenal, but yet very private from other neighbors.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. I've done Real Estate my whole life and have found that vacation rentals are by far the most gratifying. Knowing our places are part of the best of times for guests makes them very special. Please think of us again in the future. Gatlinburg has a different feel with each season.

The cabin was awesome with great views. Cabin has a great setup to enjoy time with the family!

  • 5 of 5

Our time in the cabin was great. The location is far enough from town (10 miles) to escape the busyness of Gatlinburg, but close enough to get to everything you need to build a great trip agenda. Overall, a great property to share time with the family.

The owners were awesome to work with and in contact to ensure everything was alright. Had a few little issues to start the week off, but owners took care of all issues with deepest apologizes. They are great people and wonderful to work with.

Spent time hiking (Klingsmans Dome, Grotto Falls), walking Gatlinburg, and zip lining at Climbworks (it is a must). Was in cabin for five nights and could have easily stayed a couple of more days.

Thanks Ed for taking care of a wonderful property and interested in seeing them place when you finish updating the place.

One complaint- my father noticed that the only thing that came out of the barrels in the bathrooms were water. He was a little disappointed (future tenants check the pics of the bathrooms and you will understand the joke). Thanks again for the wonderful place.

Owner's Response: Pete, It was a pleasure hosting you. I hate it when everything isn't perfect on a guest arrival. The silver lining is that it is those guests that I get a chance to get to know. It was a pleasure hosting you and thank you for the kind words. I hope to see you in the future. ed

Perfect mountain vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We had 13 people stay for vacation, 3 little kids and 3 big kids. Beautiful mountain scenery, even the black bear visitors on the first day were enjoyable, as they just passed through to say hello! Home was decent size for our group, a big kitchen and usually enough seating when we gathered everyone on the main floor. The bathrooms could use a little work, but overall great accommodations.

Owner's Response: Thanks Mandi, The Bathrooms are the last item on what was a very large list of enhancements. This year we replaced windows and updated the outside. The year before we gutted and modernized the living areas. In November we added shelving around the sinks as it was clear the barrels did not offer enough surface area. This helps alot. Best Regards ed

Wonderful from Start to Finish

  • 5 of 5

This is a great cabin with an AWESOME view situated in the woods/mountain. The view off the main deck is stunning, and we enjoyed sitting out there morning, noon, and night. Be quiet, and pay attention: on the fourth day of our stay, we noticed that a Mama Bear and her two cubs (which we had previously seen climbing a tree a few cabins down the road earlier in the week) had camped not far from this cabin. We were able to watch the mama sleeping while her cubs wrestled nearby. Two OTHER large bears walked right by the front of the cabin window where I was doing the night's dishes - I considered it my reward for volunteering to clean up!

The kitchen is well-stocked with plenty of dishes, coffee mugs, and silverware. We had a party of 11, and it was nice to have a well-stocked kitchen. The bedding was cozy and plentiful. I felt like we had everything we needed for the week.

All the bathrooms are shared. I only mention this because I may have missed it in the description originally. This wasn't a problem with our group, but it may be worth pointing out to plan who you want to share a bathroom with! With the exception of the master bath on the third level, the bathrooms are on the small side, and there isn't much room to put toiletries near or under the sink (as the sinks rest atop some pretty cool barrels - check out the pics to see what I mean), so I would recommend bringing some kind of hanging thing to store such items.

LOCATION: For a calm, relaxing getaway, this is your cabin. The location is peaceful (not a lot of traffic or people), nestled in a beautiful corner lot of gorgeous trees with a distant awe-inspiring mountain view. It's a relatively easy drive from the cabin to the Smoky Mountain National Park (about 30 minutes). Gatlinburg is easy enough to get to, and there are good eats (BBQ and pizza!) not far down the road out of the resort area. The location of this cabin is PERFECT.

There are three pools, though we only found two. One is a 5-7 minute drive up the mountain (amazing natural setting), and the other is a small indoor pool around the corner and up the hill in the resort area. The deck outside the indoor pool is A-MAZ-ING: a large area perfect for some after-swimming snacks and mountain-gazing.

The owner was great to work with and responsive (as was the cleaning person when we had questions).

Our group ages ranged 4 through 70, and this cabin was perfect for us.

Owner's Response: thank you for the kind review. Regarding the bathroom sinks. I have been trying to figure out how to expand the surface area and still keep the ambiance of the whisky barrels. it finally occurred to me to put in a thick tempered glass countertop. They are a custom order but i hope to have them in place by October. Thanks for pointing this out. Best regards Ed & Janan
