We really enjoyed staying here. Clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Right on the river but we unfortunately didn't make as much use of it as we had planned. Stock up before you arrive as there isn't much nearby but the kitchen is well equipped and good BBQ.
We enjoyed a much-needed peaceful vacation out in nature, with easy short trips to see the Pacific Ocean beaches and the Hoh Rainforest. It was also great to be able to walk over to the nearby Kloshe Nanitch Lookout trail from some incredible views of the surrounding area and then cool off in the river afterwards. The Loft was surprisingly quiet considering its location near the highway and we appreciated the full kitchen with its utensils and dishware for cooking.
Cozy, clean, and well appointed loft. The view of the river out the front windows was wonderful. We would stay again.

Such a cute property with great all around character. Huge property space with the river running by and only a very short walk away. Well behaved pets welcome which was a plus. The property had all the amenities including an outside grille which we gladly used and all around very clean and well maintained. The cute cottage was located an an excellent base point to drive nearby to the highly popular points of interest in the area. Highly recommend and would love to stay here again when the opportunity arises. I loved my short stay.

This was our first visit, but we will absolutely book again. We were celebrating our 48th anniversary and this was the relaxing, quiet, gorgeous get away that we were looking for. Spent our days exploring the beaches and rain forest and our evening sitting on the riverbank. Stunning fall colors! We are already planning our return trip.

Hosted by Brenda Connely
We are Ted and Brenda Connely. Brenda grew up in Forks. Ted is from Nebraska but has been here on the Olympic Peninsula since 1976. We were living in Port Angeles when we found our river place. A friend mentioned the property might be available. We bought it and spent every spare moment for the next four years fixing up the old house on the property. One day in March of 2004 Brenda came back to the cabin from work in Port Angeles carrying Sam the cat, who had been the only one occupying the house in Port Angeles most of the time. 'We live here now,' she announced, 'we're always here anyway.' She got no argument from Ted and so the house in Port Angeles was sold and we became full time residents at the cabin. Since the cabin had only one bedroom and no garage, we decided to take care of both problems at once and build a garage with an apartment above. The loft was our guest room until we decided to buy a larger home closer to Forks, still on the river but not as special. We couldn't bring ourselves to sell the Riverside place so we decided to share it with others by turning in into a vacation rental. It has been gratifying to see our guests love it too. So many have told us they don't want to leave at the end of their stay.
Why they chose this property
Even though the property was all grown up with weeds and the house was very run down, we knew at first sight this was our place. The sparkling river running along the edge of the yard, the golden light coming through the trees, just the peaceful feel of the place. Many guests have used the word 'magical' to describe their feelings about the place.
What makes this property unique
We originally bought this property for our own vacation home with no thought of its potential as a vacation rental property. But not only is it a beautiful, relaxing, welcoming spot to stay, it is very handily located within an hour's drive of nearly all the attractions of the northwest section of Olympic National Park. Many guest comment on what a great base camp it is for seeing the park. We have often heard how nice it is to come home to after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the deck, sit by the river, build a fire in the firepit, and sleep in the very comfortable beds.
