The Hampton Homestead provides a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city. This is the childhood home of Wilmer Hampton, founder of Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort, and is nestled in a valley of 20 acres of cherry orchards and 600 acres of forest. Wilmer’s father homesteaded and built this home about 1915. It has gone through several remodeling updates, most recently new flooring and counter top in the kitchen and main bathroom. All new furnishings in 2015. We have an active cherry orchard, so please consider any sensitivities or allergies you might have when planning your stay. As a curtesy to our guests with allergies, we do not allow pets or smoking in our home. There may be barn cats on the property during your stay, and we kindly ask that you not allow them inside or feed them anywhere near the home. The Homestead is located about 6 miles (15 minutes) from the Hampton Lodge at Mission Ridge and about 15 minutes from downtown Wenatchee. Close enough to enjoy the town and far enough to have the out in the country feel.
Enjoy walking through the forest along an old logging road or make your own trail. Climb a hill for a great view of the sunrise. Glide down our sledding hill for some wintertime fun. Taste a few sweet cherries during our July harvest. Find a quiet spot for a picnic. Gaze upon the deer and wild turkeys feeding in the early morning or listen to the owls hooting at night.
The Hampton Homestead is furnished with 1 king euro pillow top bed in the main floor master bedroom, 1 queen euro pillow top bed in an upstairs bedroom, and 2 twin beds and pop up twin trundle bed in a second upstairs bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with service for 7. A comfortable living room has large screen TV, DVD/ Blu-ray player and complimentary Netflix and wireless internet service.
The 1940’s Hampton Hideaway barn is now available as an event venue. See our web site or HamptonHideaway Facebook page for more information. The barn and our vacation rentals make a great country wedding package. Renting the Homestead with the Hampton Hideaway (VRBO.com/410092) allows a group of 15 to stay close together.
Whether you are planning a family vacation, a quick weekend getaway or are visiting for business, the Wenatchee Valley has an adventure for you. With four distinct seasons, 300 sunshine-filled days a year, a river running through town and mountains so close you can touch them, your stay in Wenatchee Valley will be memorable.
Greg and JoAnn look forward to welcoming you to their home.
Greg Hampton was born and raised in Wenatchee. His dad, Wilmer, founded Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort. Greg is an avid skier and was a ski jumper as a kid. He and JoAnn met while serving as Air Force officers at a US base in England. They were married in her home town in New Jersey. After their active duty tours were over, they settled on the family homestead in the Squilchuck area of Wenatchee.
JoAnn Hampton purchased this farmhouse in 1997
This property has been in the Hampton family for over 100 years. The Homestead was built in the early 1900's. The Hideaway was built by second generation Hamptons in the 1940's. Greg and JoAnn are 3rd generation Hamptons and raised their 4 children in the original Homestead then built their home on the hill over looking the orchards.
The Hampton Homestead has been home to 5 generations of our family. Greg has fond memories of visiting his Grandpa Tony, picking corn and milking cows.
Hampton Homestead is a treasure. We are excited to have found it, and plan to return often. The house is furnished with everything you can think of. It's comfortable and clean, and tastefully decorated. The owners have anticipated every need, from the coffee maker to the ice cream maker, from the cozy blankets to the puzzle books, nothing was missing. The owners even came over and cleared snow off the path so we could get to our car each day. This was a wonderfully relaxing break, and we plan to return often. Will definitely recommend the Homestead to our friends. Thank you Hampton family for a great home away from home.
This house is a gem. Joann and Greg are kind and thoughtful hosts. I love the history of this home and property. The house has been renovated tastefully and comes complete with all of the little details. I felt just like we were at home. We have rented many VRBO places and this one is at the top for me for accommodations and comfort. The area to explore around the house is amazing and peaceful. We saw turkeys and deer in the orchard. It is a quick 10 minute drive to Wenatchee. Thank you Joann and Greg for sharing your family home.
The interior of the homestead was nicely remodeled and very comfortable for the entire family. It was the perfect lodging for our ski getaway. We will definitely stay there again.
We loved the comfortable & well furnished home. Even sleds were provided for the great sledding hill behind the house. Very nice hosts made sure every detail was perfect for our stay.
Our families enjoyed a welcoming and relaxing stay at the Hampton Homestead. Cozy, clean, quiet, beautiful and well-equiped. We loved it.
Nice house, very attentive owners. House very clean and well organized and well stocked with everything you might need. Less than 15 min drive from Mission Ridge skiing. Made for a fun winter escape.
Just 2 miles up the main road is Squilchuck State Park where you can go hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding, and inner tubing. Another 4 miles gets you to Mission Ridge for skiing and snowboarding. We can provide lift tickets.
Have a picnic and let the kids play on great playground equipment at Lincoln Park on your way downtown.
A popular hike up Saddle Rock for a sunrise view is just 15 minutes away. For the less adventurous, the big picture window in the living room offers a warm and cozy sunrise view! Ohme Gardens is about 25 minutes away and offers breathtaking views.
Downtown Wenatchee offers a variety of dining options, wine tasting and winery tours, pubs and breweries, shopping and entertainment. Wenatchee Riverfront Park and the Columbia River are great for walking, biking, swimming, and boat launching.
Golfing 20-25 minutes away at the Highlander Golf Club or Three Lakes Golf Club.
Drive 30 minutes to go white water rafting on the Wenatchee River or visit the Rocky Reach Dam Visitor Center (on the Columbia River) for a close up view of salmon and steelhead passing through the fishway, and enjoy picnic areas, the arboretum and playground equipment.
Leavenworth, a Bavarian theme town famous for its Oktoberfest and Christmas lighting festivities, is 45 minutes away.
Lake Chelan is about an hour away and has lots of water activities, including water slides.
