Annapolis is a small city steeped in history and situated on the Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the United States. Annapolis is only 25 miles from Baltimore and 30 miles from Washington, D.C, and is close to other historic sites and beaches in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Annapolis is the home of the United States Naval Academy and is touted as the Sailing Capital of America. More than four million visitors each year enjoy this historic seaport which is one of America's premier maritime centers. A wide variety of annual activities and festivals attract visitors again and again. For example, the US Sailboat and Powerboat Shows draw thousands each October to Annapolis' City Dock. Other local festivals focus on the arts, history, crafts, seafood, film, ethnic groups, books and food.
The European flavor of downtown Annapolis attracts local and international visitors to explore its brick-lined streets and sights on foot. Others choose to tour Annapolis by water or trolley. Visitors to this property, which has free off-street parking, have an easy, 10-minute walk to all that Annapolis has to offer. Restaurants, bars, churches, theatre, boating, and shopping are within walking distance of 316 Burnside. These include the US Naval Academy Visitor Center and Museum; Annapolis City Dock; the Maryland State House; the Charles Carroll House and the William Paca House, to name a few. A major focus of Annapolis is the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, the Severn River and Spa Creek. Visitors have an opportunity to immerse themselves in all aspects of water activities, including sailing, power boating, and kayaking. Local water taxis transport visitors to many interesting locations in the Annapolis Harbor.
A wide variety of restaurants and bars are also located within walking distance of this property. Some of our favorites are Blackwall Hitch; Vin 909 WineCafe; O'Leary's Seafood; Ruth's Chris Steak House; Boatyard Bar & Grill; Carol's Creek; Davis' Pub; Café Normandie Restaurant; Joss' Café & Sushi Bar; Galway Bay; McGarvey's Saloon & Oyster Bar; Pusser's Landing at the Marriott; and many more.
Beyond Annapolis, visitors have easy access to Washington, DC and all that the US Capital has to offer to travelers from the US and around the world. Baltimore, a bustling Maryland seaport city, has been described as a 'city of neighborhoods' reflecting immigrant populations who settled there. Daytrips to Maryland and Delaware Atlantic beaches are also popular.
