Casa de la Armonia is a very spacious 2,368 square feet penthouse with plenty of space for reading and relaxing. The complex has only 27 units which creates a very homey atmosphere, and quickly becomes a home away from home.

The condo is only a few minutes walk to the Santa Cruz beach where numerous restaurants allow you to spend a leisurely day on the beach under the umbrellas or palapas, eating ceviche or guacamole or fresh fish, or having a beverage - on breaks from playing in the ocean, swimming or snorkeling or looking for shells! Occasionally you can have a front row seat and watch the cruise ships pull in.

The condo is about 15 kilometers from the airport - and we can arrange a private transfers to and from if you like ... we strongly recommend it as we find it much easier - especially when it comes to getting luggage up and down the stairs! :)

The condo has 3 Bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (Two 3-piece bathrooms and Master bathroom with Jacuzzi bath/shower) and is perfect for families wanting to holiday together while still having plenty of opportunity to have their privacy and space. Bedding is 1 King (master), 1 Queen, and 1 double plus a double/twin bunk bed (perfect for kids, or couples).

The master bedroom has a private terrace (perfect for that quiet morning cup of coffee!) and a second terrace is off the spacious living room and dining room area.

There is a separate TV room for teens to game or anyone to watch movies (stocked with a bit of an assortment). Over the years we have found this perfect for allowing kids to mellow out at nap time, wind down at the end of the day, or allow us some quiet time once everyone else has gone to bed.

The dining room and kitchen are large and very open, and there is a separate wet bar.

We recommend heading out for meals instead of spending time in the kitchen ... as there are numerous restaurants in both Santa Cruz, Crucecita and Tangolunda to explore ... and the food is both amazing and reasonably priced. Use the kitchen for coffee and snacks and get out and explore :)

There is a service room with washer and drier, but don't worry about the major cleaning as our housekeeper is available at least 2x per week to assist you.

We highly recommend that you have us arrange transfers to and from the airport in advance. The cost will calculate on booking and can be deleted if not required.

VRBO will automatically calculate basic service including housekeeping every other day but NOT including daily breakfasts. If you would like we can arrange for daily breakfasts ... or even just a couple if you would like :)

Optional meals (Ana is a fabulous cook!), as well as excursions, can also be arranged with Ana once you arrive.

NOTE: THE CONDO IS CURRENTLY LISTED FOR SALE as we have been unable to visit as frequently as we would like due to some changes in our family medical situation. I know it is not an active market right now. If anyone is interested in buying we have made the realtor aware that it is still a rental property and existing bookings would have to be taken into consideration.

About Teras & Christine Cassidy

The condo is owned by Christine & Teras Cassidy, and Horst & Brigitte Bulda (Christine's parents). We live in Hinton, Alberta, Canada, where Horst & Brigitte moved in 1964 when they immigrated from Germany. Horst & Brigitte are now retired (from the local pulp mill and Harmony Insurance Ltd. respectively), Christine has recently sold Harmony after almost 20 years of brokerage ownership, and Teras is focused on Geek Nation Tours after over 18 years running two Marlin Travel offices - in Hinton and Fairview.

We are always happy to chat about Huatulco and things for you to see and do prior to your departure to our condo :)

Why Teras & Christine Cassidy chose Santa María Huatulco Municipality

We discovered the gem that is Huatulco mainly through friends who Teras met through the Marlin Travel network ... who knew of this 'secret wondrous place' at the time ... and had chosen Huatulco as their retirement home. We fell in love with the small town, safe feel of the area, the sense of community, the food and culture, and especially the cleanliness and environmental consciousness of this tourist destination.

What makes this condo unique

We head back to the condo as often as possible because for us it truly feels like a home away from home. Coming in the front door to the open space, vaulted ceilings and stocked bookshelves, to pulling out some games, to heading down to the pool in the center of the gated condo community, it is comfortable. It is incredibly spacious and provides a perfect base for a group of friends, or multiple generations. Early risers can have a coffee and head to the beach. When the little ones need to be tucked in, the teens can pop in a movie or pull a game like Pandemic or Jenga or Family Business out of the cupboard, and the adults can savor blender drinks in the living room ... or game or comandeer the movie room:)

Excursions to see turtles and crocodiles, or organic cosmetic production ... or taking a private boat to tour and swim in some of the many bays and beaches ... or to raft down the Copalita river ... or tour the archeological site ... or check out other beaches are all easy. There are so many things to see and explore.

Or, as we most often do, you can head down to Santa Cruz beach, find our favourite waiter Calderon, and settle in for the day to sip and snack and swim and read and snooze. :) Then home for a shower and a nap and then out for a late supper and to see what is happening in the square in Crucecita ...

We highly recommend having Ana come in to prepare one of her excellent breakfasts for you at least a couple of times a week. Or on days when you prefer to wake without a schedule and ease in with coffee, arrange with Ana the day before to leave behind a bowl of her amazing guacamole and homemade salsa after she cleans instead. (not included in price ... but wonderful!) Another experience we recommend is that you book Ana to make supper WITH you ... take you shopping, hit the market, select ingredients together .. and make a traditional Mexican meal. For the cooks in the family that wanted a holiday from the kitchen, make this your ONLY exception to being in the kitchen !!! :)

The condo is beautiful, comfortable and a great place to start the days adventures! Taxi's are plentiful and inexpensive. Ana is an excellent ambassador for Mexico and can arrange for any kind of excursion you may be interested in. Had a fantastic time!

Very good vacation spot

Close to many good restaurants and walking distance to beach. Very nice vacation spot. Well worth it if travelling in a group. Very comfortable. Only negative would be the AC can have issues, but they are working on it.

As far as the a/c goes, all units are maintained regularly, and I am thankful Ana can often get same day service if there is an issue. I know I love the fans to move the air around ... but as a Canadian (used to a very different climate) I also definitely love the ability to take the edge off before bed :)

Nice, well equipped condo.

I rented this condo for my daughter, her husband and their 5 children. They loved it. Good location, close to the beach, and lots of cultural stuff nearby. The condo was well furnished with lots of extras, like games and puzzles for the kids. Thanks Christine, it was wonderful

Not as expected, dirty

The place was dirty, there were 4 air conditioners and only one remote control for all it was a pain, no housekeeping at all

Owner's Response: I am sorry this guest was not satisfied ... more so that I was not able to remedy any concerns as I was not made aware of them until after their departure. The condo was cleaned prior to the guests arrival, concerns were not brought to my attention upon arrival, nor during the stay, and a request for a refund to compensate for the lack of cleaning mid-week was processed. From speaking with our housekeeper about this concern, there seems to have been a miscommunication between the guest and our housekeeper regarding calling to schedule cleaning. Batteries have been replaced in one a/c remote and we are investigating how to get a new remote for another unit. I will be at the condo prior to next season and plan to have the additional a/c remote situation resolved before I leave again. Please see other reviews to put this review in perspective, as I have. Great condo with a lovely pool and awesome location

We stayed at Hacienda Real over Christmas and New Years th his past year. It is a lovely large condo in a great location. Walking distance to Scotia bank , a lovely beach and good shopping. A short taxi ride away was super che for groceries.

The house keeper Ana was great. Helped us with anything we needed and was our personal guide on many tours as she has her own taxi.

The restaurant right next door to the condo was amazing for dinners, but only open for dinner hours.

A few cons and not many. A toaaster as we are canadians and love our toast. Only a toaster oven so making toast took forever. The tv did not work. We were expecting to be able to watch some movies on down days as we were there for 2 weeks. So this was hard for my kids. Also told there was no amount of internet for streaminng netflix etc. But a week and a half in Ana found out and told us she had vhanged the provider and that this was possible. A lifessver for my kids after that. I would recommend some cable tv be added just for some relaxation time. Christine was very helpful prior to us going. This is an easy region to get to know. Lots to do and lots of fun.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review and the comments! Regarding the TV, the old one worked in December when I was there, no idea why it chose the week of your visit to quit. Sorry for your inconvenience! I am happy to report a new TV is in place ... and it has SmartTV capabilities. The internet is definitely much better with the new provider ... but can still be finicky and I don't recommend counting on it for all communication and entertainment ;) Christine

Spacious, colorful and comfortable accommodations-most enjoyable.

The accommodations were clean, bright and spacious. AC kept us comfortable. (A few repairs needed in second bedroom washroom and kitchen tap otherwise everything worked beautifully).The pool was refreshing, and the grounds were meticulously kept and relaxing. Ana made our stay extra special by sharing her knowledge of the area as well as her driving and cooking skills. We found the people of Huatulco to be genuine, patient with our lack of Spanish, and always willing to accommodate. Every day was sunny and hot. The beaches spectacular and clean. Would recommend!!

There are numerous beaches for you to explore ... all easily reached with the assistance of a local taxi driver or even public transport if you wish. Check out La Bocana, Entrega or Maguey or Chahue, the resort area around Tangolunda, or venture further away to San Augustin or Puerto Angel or Puerto Escondido to watch the surfers.

Tours can be arranged in advance or with the assistance of Ana, our housekeeper. We have used STS tours for years and can recommend their guides and tours. Whether you are interested in an eco tour up into the Sierra Madres or a couple of days to Oaxaca City to see the pyramids and the historic old city, or 4 wheeling through the jungle, checking out the turtle and crocodile sanctuary, or checking out the local nightlife, they have something for you.

We have had very few service interruptions over the years but it is possible for water or power to be limited or off on rare occasions. We have never experienced any earth movement although it does occur in the Huatulco area and friends have experienced them. Our housekeeper and condo management are available to assist if necessary.
