Looking for a supersize apartment fit for a large family in Athens? Acropolis View Alphaplus might be your perfect penthouse. With 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and an open-concept, soccer field-sized (almost) living area, up to 12 people will find plenty of room here - all with a lovely view of the Acropolis and Mount Lykavittos.
A TERRACE TO REMEMBER
The landscaped terrace (shared with the next-door Beta Penthouse) is our pride and joy. It has outdoor dining, a BBQ grill, and nap-worthy lounging sofas that take full advantage of the view. At nightfall, the terrace view glitters with city lights and moon-washed Mount Lykavittos. We'll even cater a full breakfast or host a wine-tasting for your group out here. Talk to us!
And ask us about renting both AlphaPlus AND Beta to accommodate an even larger group of up to 24 people - with this arrangement the gorgeous terrace is all yours.
AN AMERICAN-STYLE RENOVATION
In Greece, the definition of "rehabbed" is a bit different than ours. For Greeks it means "slapped on a new coat of paint/installed new kitchen cabinets." But Greek Vacation Rentals' version of rehabbed means totally transformed. At the Acropolis View Alphaplus Penthouse, upgrades include all-new, American-style plumbing (TP flushing encouraged!), plus brand-new appliances and Sealy Posturpedic mattresses imported from the US and wrapped in buttery-soft, high thread-count linens.
Foodies love our kitchen, which we stock to the heavens with small appliances, cookware, and other gadgets. Even a multi-course holiday feast is no trouble here! After a long, leisurely shared meal on the terrace, a dishwasher is on hand to help with clean-up.
We also have a full-size washer and dryer for your clothes, too - a rarity among Athens vacation rentals.
3 BEDROOMS/3 BATHS
We have 3 bedrooms, with beds for 10 people plus a sofabed for 2 more. The master suite has a King bed and a twin, making it a great option for a family with a youngin' they want to keep close. The indulgent master bath has an American-style bathtub/shower combination with an extra deep jetted tub and hydro massage shower jets.
The 2nd bedroom is also family-friendly, with a queen bed and two twins. A 2nd bathroom on the main floor has a walk-in shower. All bathrooms have Organic Greek bath products and fluffy robes.
Upstairs, a 3rd bedroom - also a suite - has a queen bed, a twin bed and a walk-in shower in the attached bath.
DOWNTOWN LOCATION
Our downtown residential neighborhood is in the thick of things! Here, locals sip coffee under shade trees at the cafes and watch their kids play in the "platieas" or "squares," then browse the farmers markets for dinner ingredients.
From the AlphaPlus Penthouse, you can walk to the historic center of Athens - or take the trolley just 4 or 5 stops - and experience some of the best museums in downtown, like the Benaki, the Cylcadic, the National Art Gallery, as well as Syntagma Square and the National Gardens.
As Greek Vacation Rentals third property, we really found our footing with the AlphaPlus Penthouse! We consider it the culmination of years of learning what our guests want from an authentic-yet-indulgent Athens vacation.
Wow, who would have thought when I told my husband I wanted to buy a little pied-a-terre in his hometown, Athens, Greece, that I'd end up with the greatest accidental career of my life? Born and raised in Chicago, my love for travel was evident early on. Perhaps it was my arrival in the world, early one December morning, way quicker than my siblings had, in fact so quick we were still enroute to the hospital, and I still hold the title of youngest patient ever admitted to that north suburban hospital! (And thus, as a Sagittarius, characteristically smitten with wunderlust). I traveled my home country extensively with my family as a child, and was fortunate to have parents who encouraged us to study a second language young.
While my language of choice as a child was French, my culture of choice was Greek - My earliest jobs were always in Chicago's Greek diners, my university days filled with hours playing backgammon in the cafeteria with my Greek friends, and my Eurail passes always started and ended my European backpacking holidays in Greece. So no one was surprised when I met Basil, a romantic writer but practicing translator and linguist, born and bred in Athens, but transplanted to Chicago, fell in love, and married him. While our life in Chicago was full, rehabbing a warehouse we purchased to house ourselves, our son and our growing Greek translation agency, I longed to plant some roots for our family in Basil's hometown. A small studio overlooking Mount Lykavittos was to be our Athens crash pad, but thanks to what seemed then an unfortunate turn of events, our home in Athens ended up being the beautiful Athens First Luxury Duplex. Larger than we had planned, offering it as a short term furnished rental seemed the logical way to afford it. Little did we realize that it would become so popular we'd be sleeping on friend's couches rather than in our own Athens home! Tired of being homeless in Athens, we purchased a second penthouse directly adjacent to the Athens First. In 2006 we completed the renovations of three additional short term furnished rentals.
As I said early on, this is the greatest accidental business one could imagine, and I love sharing my adopted city with visitors. Our guests repeatedly thank us for the little extras that often mean so much when you are planning what is often a once in a lifetime trip. As an ex-pat in Athens, I know the wonderful off the beaten path places that can make a holiday special, and I also know how to stay on the tourist path without feeling like you are being herded along with the crowds. Feel free to email me with your questions as you plan your trip to Athens - just one of the little extras guests of Greek Vacation Rentals will find when they share our homes in Athens.
The information provided to us prior to arriving was superb. Carole's recommendations for tours and local restaurants were spot on. The tours arranged through Carole were excellent. When the weather was too hot for us to go on the walking tour, Carole provided a recommendation for an alternative tour and made all the arrangements last minute. Our tour guides spoke excellent English and were extremely informative. We had an issue with lost luggage and Nadia made herself available to meet the Delta Rep so we didn't have to spend a vacation day waiting for the missing luggage. Nadia (the local property Manager) was a ROCK STAR! She brought us a fan late at night due to the high temperatures as well as had the AC checked out / repaired on a Sunday. The overall attention to detail and helpfulness was excellent. We had 4 couples and couldn't have asked for nicer accommodations.
My husband and I are avid travelers and this trip to Greece was amazing! You can't beat the scenery and the food BUT the best part of our trip was meeting Carol. Carol owns and rents the condo we stayed in and she is the best travel planner I have ever worked with. From arranging picking us up at the airport, suggesting monuments to visit, to recommending restaurants and setting up a foodie tour and getting us back to the airport - everything was flawless and made our trip the best it could be. Our Acropolis View condo was fabulous. Perfectly clean, comfortable beds, great showers, you can drink the water out of the faucet, the living area was spacious, everything was well appointed. The best part is the beautiful view of the Acropolis from the rooftop porch/deck area. We had dinner there several times and watched the sun set and the Acropolis light up. The location is perfect, walking distance to almost everything and anything you would want to eat or see. I highly recommend this rental property but mostly, if you are going to Greece, get a hold of Carol. :)
A vey nice apartment clean, well furnished and the manager Nadia was perfect gave very good service.
A cab station 1 minute away, € 5 to all important destinations.
I have been to Athens over 16 times in my life, and these are the best accommodations I have ever stayed in!
They are spacious and beautiful with views of the city and Acropolis, wrap around glass windows and balconies, great rooftop terrace, air conditioning, Internet, cable TV, free phone to call home to America and family in Europe. Awesome beds! Outstanding kitchen! Lidl grocery store across the street. Spotless and well stocked.
Next time I will plan my excursions and day trips sooner so that I get to book the amazing Nick and Nadia!
Carole and Basil were a wealth of information on getting around Athens and arranging my itinerary to Lesvos. Can't wait to return!
We arrived earlier than we had indicated, but Nadia was able to accommodate us quickly and efficiently. The penthouse is located in a very busy part of Athens, but it is easy to find and reasobly easy to get to if you are driving. The penthouse is large, clean with large terraces on two floors. The top floor terrace is well designed with comfortable seating and nice potted flowers. The views of the Acropolis and lycavetos hill as well as major parts of Athens are beautiful, especially in the evening hours.
The bedrooms are large and comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped for a large family's needs. There is plenty to do in the immediate area including nice restaurants and shopping. The location is also very close to most attractions including museums, the parliament and many others.
The only negative was finding parking, but we were able to solve the problem by returning the rented car and taking cabs or walking.
We used Nick's service to go to the airport and we found him helpful and very charming.
Carole has done a great job organizing everything well for her guests. We found dealing with Carole easy, efficient and very professional.
We would recommend the AlphaPlus Acropolis penthouse to any family visiting Athens.
The beds were nice, the furnishings comfortable, and someone was always available to answer any questions we had. The rooftop view and patio furnishings meant we could top the evenings off at home after a day of touring, hiking, and general bumming around this beautiful city.
