Nestled in an idyllic situation by a riverbank on the edge of the Peak District. A beautiful character cottage with beamed ceilings, stone floors and handmade wooden doors throughout. All mod cons; log burning stoves; aga and cosy rooms to relax. Also the perfect place to relax after the 'thrill seeking' at Alton Towers! This place is really home from home and perfect for a friends or family gathering.

We had a lovely peaceful stay at Colour Mill Cottage, we had all we needed plus more, ideal location for Peak Wildlife Park and Alton Towers, gorgeous bathtub, loved the Arga. Overall had a fab time, thank you!
Everything we needed in this well equipped house. The owner was lovely contacting us when we had arrived to make sure all was ok. Ideal spot to explore local villages and great walks. Can't recommend highly enough.
Lovely cottage in an ideal location for accessing Dovedale, Ilam and Manifold trail. The inside of the cottage was spacious with large dinning table and sufficient sitting in the lounge. The arga kept the cottage warm particularly when returning from walks.
There was an outdoor area next to the river which would have been lovely if we had visited in the summer.
Good communication with Eleanor and the complimentary basket of goodies was appreciated.
Would highly recommend Colourmill cottage as a base to explore the Peak District
A chance for our family to meet up, relax and have a great time. Lots of space to spread out, the bedrooms were clean and very comfortable however, the dining table was probably where we spent most of our time together. Quiet location and we loved the riverside space a couple of steps across the road. An easy place to keep clean with our two dogs as the only carpeted area was on the stairs.
Lovely cottage. Very comfy beds. Very helpful host.
It was a lovely cottage in a lovely location. Eleanor was very helpful. She brought kindling over to us when we realised we were out. There was also plenty of wood for us to burn on the Woodburner - fantastic in the cold weather. She also left a generous hamper of goodies.

I am a full time working mum of a 5 year old girl and 7 year old son. We live in the same area as the property as we love it so much. We lived at the cottage for 7 years and were very happy there and my husband, Paul, still misses the river!!
Why they chose this property
This property is in one of the most beautiful areas of countryside that I have ever lived in. We fell in love with it as soon as we saw it. Nestled by in the bank by the river but also close to some lovely restaurants, farm shops, pubs, activities all a short distance away. It really has the best of both worlds, tranquillity and then 'action' if you want it.
What makes this property unique
The property has oodles of character in every room. There are beautiful stone floors ; stunning handmade wooden doors and beamed ceilings through out. Not only do you have character, there is no compromise on the luxury features. Stunning bathrooms with Molton Brown handwashes and fluffy towels; really comfortable beds with high quality linens. We like to make our guests feel special.
