A RUSTIC TASTE OF MONTANA'S PAST:no-frills lodging in an historic bunkhouse

Ideal vacation lodging: a beautiful ranch setting, apart from the traditional tourist scene, in comfortable, relaxed surroundings. CHAPS & SPURS HISTORIC BUNKHOUSE is one of 4 unique accommodations we offer. All are in a private setting for guests looking for lodging with a personal touch. If your vacation is centered around exploring this unique area, you are within minutes of area activities and attractions. The East Entrance to Glacier Park is 15 minutes away, Many Glacier Valley is 20 minutes, Two Medicine Valley is an hour's scenic drive as is Waterton National Park in Canada. The Ranch is an ideal place to return to after a day of activity; to kick back, relax and plan your next day's adventure. If you prefer time to read, write, photograph or other more solitary pursuits, you will enjoy the space, privacy and inspiring natural ambience. All our vacation rentals offer the serenity, privacy and views that Paul Ranch Montana LLC is famous for.

Centrally located for a variety of destinations and pursuits, this rustic one-room bunkhouse is comfortable, and well-maintained. It is decorated with historic period furnishings, except for the beds (we want our guests to get a good night's sleep). For the budget minded traveler, our Chaps & Spurs Historic Bunkhouse will help you stretch your travel dollar. Sitting on the porch morning and evening is a favorite spot of the Ranch owner...feeling the fresh air, listening to the natural sounds, gazing at the mountains, watching the gold finches drink and bathe in the adjacent pond, and the butterflies flutter about in the peacefulness of the setting. In a sense, you'll truly be roughing it (just like the cowboys)...there's electricity and a brand new private washhouse with shower, sink and toilet. It's a rustic taste of Montana's past! Potable water is provided. The Bunkhouse is equipped with a microwave, a small fridge, a coffeemaker & coffee fixin's, paper plates, cups, plastic wear, linens, blankets, and towels. Scheduled service to your home is provided to allow you to enjoy your vacation.

A covered porch off the front door offers mountain views of Glacier Park that are beyond belief and is a perfect place to dine, to start your day with morning coffee or to end your evening relaxing and viewing wildlife that inhabit the property. A large open field invites an evening stroll; equipment is on hand for outdoor games and activities. This is a plus for families traveling with children.

RANCH MONTANA PAUL LLC proudly announces it has been accepted as a Silver level GreenLeader into the new GreenLeaders™ program, which helps travelers plan greener trips by identifying environmentally-friendly accommodations across the U.S.

WILD HEART REFUGE, comprised of 155 acres, has been set aside on the Ranch as a wildlife refuge. The commitment of Paul Ranch Montana is to leave acreage undisturbed to support indigenous wildlife that live on, give birth on and migrate across the land.

What makes this cabin unique

The unique benefits of the Ranch include the wildlife that inhabit the property, the pair of red tailed hawks that take up residency every year, the awesome mountain vistas, the clean air, the clear night sky, the get-away-from-it-all setting. Hearing the morning and evening sounds from the wetlands conservation area that borders the property will connect you with nature and refresh your spirit.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Myself and my two boys thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay in your small cabin last weekend. Mike was very friendly, helpful, and really enjoys his job working for you. He made us feel oh so special. His wife also made us some taco won tongs. (: yum yum.

I hope I can make the trip from Missouri back to Glacier NP in the near future and stay in this same cabin. If there was a rocking chair on the front porch, I don't know if I would have ever left. Thank you. very much.

Amazing, peaceful, we saw grizzlies!!!!!

What an amazing place. We had such a great time here. Very well kept, on a llama ranch, we also got to see a grizzly with her cubs and elk with her baby. That wagon wheel house was super cute with great views❤❤

rustic cabin

  • 2 of 5

This cabin is on a ranch with beautiful views and very convenient to many glacier. The hosts Terry and Gene were friendly and helpful providing space heaters in the cabin and bathroom and sharing delicious homemade cookies. The bath house was new and comfortable. With the animals on the ranch came lots of flies dead and aiive in the cabin and in the bathroom. There is a microwave and a toaster oven in the cabin but there is no sink or stove. While we never saw bears or other wild animals the possibility was always there being in such a remote area. This made it very difficult to walk outside at night to use the separate bathroom building. Definitely over priced.

Great stay at the ranch!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at the Bunkhouse. The property is a short commute to the entrances of Glacier National Park (less than 20 minutes to Many Glacier and St. Mary Entrances). There are some good dining options in the area and the property is beautiful. Teri and Gene were always willing to help and provided fresh towels and linens daily. I would definitely recommend this property.

Our second year in a row!

  • 4 of 5

Peaceful, quiet, tranquil; nobody else next door to disturb (or annoy!) you.

Close enough to drive to get a good meal, and most importantly-close to Glacier's Many Glacier entrance. If you'd like to get away from the madding crowd, this is the place. As an added bonus, the property managers, Teri and Gene, could not be any nicer or more accommodating. I hope we can see them again!

Rustic western charm

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the bunkhouse for a few days while we got ready for a backpacking trip in Glacier National Park. The house is close to Babb, the border with Canada and the Many Glacier area. We didn't do any cooking in the bunkhouse but it was all set with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and some dishes. There is no running water in the bunkhouse itself but the wash house is just a few steps away and very spacious and clean. The hosts were cordial and provided everything we needed. The cell service was actually better than what we have at home and the wifi was robust. I was nice to relax on the porch and read during the sunny afternoons. The bunkhouse was perfect for the two of us and I'd stay here again whenever we might be in the area.
