3BR/3BA -Dog Friendly Home-1/2 mile to Cross Country & Downhill Skiing

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,500 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

Cozy & Warm 3BR/3BA home, easy access to BOTH Downhill and Cross Country Skiing

We built this home in 1990 and now want to share its warmth and beauty with others. I am a recently retired local school teacher who has lived in Truckee for over 30 years. As an avid downhill skier I picked this lot to build on for its convenient access to the downhill ski area. An added bonus is its close proximity to the cross country ski center. In the winter you can enjoy going for a snowshoe adventure in the backyard. In the summer you can access miles of hiking or mountain biking trails right out the front door. You can even enjoy and hear the tranquil beauty of Alder Creek in the backyard!

The home has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths, two of the bedrooms are master suites. It is 2,500 square feet with plenty of room for a few couples or a large family. It has enough beds to comfortably sleep 6 people. Both master suites have 1 queen bed, and the additional bedroom has a twin day bed with a pullout trundle twin bed if needed. The master bathroom includes a Jacuzzi tub as well as a shower. The other two bathrooms also have showers. The large living room is great for family game nights or a relaxing night watching a movie while the wood burning fireplace keeps the home warm and cozy. The kitchen is well equipped and open to the dining room with easy access to the living room.

The outside of the home features a spacious deck with Alder Creek in the backyard amongst the tall pine trees. Enjoy the warm summer or fall sunshine while taking a nap on the hammock. Enjoy watching the snowfall and accumulate on the back deck while icicles form. It is truly a gorgeous and relaxing year-round setting.

The home is pet friendly for well-behaved dogs. My dog and my daughter’s dog frequently enjoy lounging in the sunshine streaming through the windows and playing together in the backyard (please note the backyard is not fenced in).

Tahoe Donner is a wonderful location to enjoy your Tahoe vacation. The area features multiple amenities (some include an additional fee not included in the rental cost), and many outdoor activities. Tahoe Donner even features two restaurants within 2 miles of the home. Tahoe Donner is also conveniently located less than 6 miles from downtown Truckee where you can enjoy world class dining and shopping. Truckee is located within easy driving distance of multiple world class ski resorts including Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Homewood, Soda Springs, and Donner Ski Ranch.

Truckee and Tahoe Donner truly are a year-round outdoor lover’s paradise. If you are looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a great vacation with family and friends then this home's location is perfect for you.

Please note: We DO NOT offer long term leases for this property including ski season leases.

About Robin

I am a retired local school teacher who has lived in Truckee for over 30 years. I am an avid skier and hiker who appreciates and loves all that the Tahoe-Truckee area has to offer. I was born and raised in the Central Valley, and lived in the Bay Area for years before moving to Truckee. I raised my daughter Jillian in Truckee who now lives in Portland, Oregon. I am excited about retirement and looking forward to traveling as much as possible while sharing my home with others to enjoy the beauty of Tahoe Donner.

My daughter Jillian is managing the vacation rental so you will be corresponding directly with her about rental details.

Robin purchased this house in 1990

Why Robin chose Truckee

Location! Location! Location! We picked to build on this lot because of its proximity to the downhill ski area, cross country ski area, miles of hiking and biking trails, and the equestrian center. It also has Alder Creek flowing in the back yard.

The house is cozy and warm with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, and lots of open space to share with family and friends. It is a great set-up for family holidays or a girl’s weekend getaway.

Plus you will have easy access to all of the amenities offered by Tahoe Donner!

A perfect family "Spring Skiing" getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Robin's warm, lovely home for 4 nights in March and loved every minute of it. Each of our two boys got their own bedroom and the master bedroom upstairs was a quiet and lovely retreat for us parents! Our dog loved the extra toys she could choose from, and my husband loved cooking in the well-supplied kitchen. It was the perfect location for us-- off of the busy main Tahoe Donner streets, close to the downhill and cross country ski centers as well as to Trout Creek Rec center. We enjoyed the fireplace as we watched evening movies and played board games. We relaxed immediately and thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days there! We would love to return and would recommend the house to other families with kids and pets. The owners are very friendly and responsive-- easy to communicate with them!

Comfortable home with winter wonderland for backyard and super close to Tahoe Donner

  • 5 of 5

My family of five plus our dog stayed at the cabin recently when there were quite big storms in Tahoe. Because of the extreme snow conditions, we actually didn't drive anywhere for three days. The home was very comfortable, very well maintained and stocked with everything a family would need so there wasn't a need to leave! We had cozy fires each day and night and the kids and dog loved playing in the yard (and areas beyond the yard) which was so beautifully full of snow - it was gorgeous. After the big storms stopped and some snow was cleared, we walked to TD to ski - it was easier than driving. At the end of the day, we walked partway, but most of the way, we put on our skis and skied down the street cuz there was so much snow! Ski in ski out for us! ;) Home in just a few minutes! We celebrated my daughter's 10 year bday at the cabin and the kitchen had supplies to make a home made cake. Our dog was comfortable too. The only two issues we had were that we couldn't make phone calls for about 1/2 a day and also the heat went out a couple of times without us knowing until it got really cold. All we had to do was trip the electrical switch, but it would've been nice if the owner indicated that somewhere in the documentation so I didn't have to email and wait for the resolution. On that note though, Jillian is 100% responsive! She was always available for a question big or small. Robin is as well (the owner, occupant), I am sure, but we didn't contact her.

We were also very lucky to dine at "The Lodge" for my daughter's birthday. It was less than 5 minutes from the cabin and as it turned out, on that night, all of the town of Truckee had no electricity so all restaurants were closed. Up on the hill, in the TD development where the restaurant and cabin are -- we had electricity so we had a wonderful meal there! I recommend the restaurant for its convenience, ambience and good food.

All in all, it was a fun getaway in a nice cabin. Jillian and Robin try very hard to make your stay a good one and it was!

Very comfortable, truly dog-friendly home with nice, responsive owners!

  • 5 of 5

We really loved staying in Robin's house. It was spacious, comfortable, homey, and well laid-out. The kitchen was stocked with every sort of pot, pan, and utensil, as well as a lot of shelf-stable food items (spices, etc.) that would have come in handy if we had done more cooking. The back yard was great, with a nice deck as well as a lovely lawn with a hammock. All three of the bedrooms were really comfortable -- loved the ceiling fan that helped keep the upstairs bedroom cool. We didn't use the tub in the master bathroom, but it looked amazing -- a deep soaking tub with a picture window looking out on the trees.

And the home was especially great for our dog! There were two giant dog beds, a stack of dog towels, special elevated dog bowls, and a big basket of very enticing dog toys. And the fenced-in back deck was great for letting our dog hang out with us outside off-leash.

Robin and Jillian were both lovely. They were very responsive both on VRBO beforehand and by text message once we arrived. And when I had a package mailed to us at the house, thinking it would be left on the front steps and not knowing that the Postal Service delivered all mail to Robin's storage locker, they generously went and picked it up for me and brought it to the house.

All in all, a great rental!
