East 62nd Street apartment located in a 19th century Upper East Side Townhouse. The 4-room, convertible 3-bedroom apartment, is spacious and loaded with turn-of-the-century charm charm.

Stay in our beautiful brownstone building located just a few blocks from Central Park, Bloomingdales, Barney's, Madison Avenue shopping. Public transportation is one block away. Walking distance toe the Met, Carnegie Hall, The Frick Museum and much more.

We generally maintain a 4 night minimum. Shorter stays are considered for last minute or shorter stay openings between other stays. If you'd like to stay for fewer than 4 nights, we suggest you initially send us an inquiry to verify the minimum night stay for your desired dates. Thank you!

3 Separate sleeping areas with three beds. Two queen beds and 1 twin bed. 1 bed in each room. Private bathroom (1) with tub/shower combination. Fully stocked kitchen.

The apartment includes TV & WiFi Internet. Air Conditioning in each room. Extras included such as hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Clean linens, towels and pillows provided. The kitchen is stocked with a dishwasher, stove and refrigerator, microwave, Coffee Maker, and electric hot water boiler. Pots, Pans, Cups, Utensils & Plates.

Beautiful, Safe and Convenient Neighborhood

The Brownstone is situated in the much sought after LENOX HILL neighborhood of the Historic Upper East side section of Manhattan and a short 3 block walk to CENTRAL PARK and some of New York's finest shopping districts. The House's location, a quiet residential enclave for some of New York's most prestigious addresses, enjoys the best of both worlds – serene privacy and un-matched convenience. The neighborhood abounds with tasteful, exclusive boutiques and charming, international restaurants. Yet, the house is only three blocks from bustling Midtown and some of the City's fabulous and world renown Museums & galleries including the Frick, The Metropolitan and MoMa. Shopping is plentiful including the 4 Bs: Bloomingdales, Barney's, Bendel's and Bergdorf-Goodman. We are 12 minutes to TIMES SQUARE by Taxi or subway.

Just 1 block from the F train and 2 blocks from 59th street stop (N,R,Q,W and the 4-5-6 lines all servicing up and downtown) (express and local). Bus located around the corner. The subway will take you to the Southern tip of the city (Freedom Towers - 9/11 Memorial) within 20 minutes.

With it’s location 4 flights above the house’s main ground floor entry hall, if you don’t mind the stairs, the apartment will reward you with two high-perched but radically diverging views, from the front and the back of this full-floor suite.

PLEASE NOTE: The house is not serviced by an elevator.The apartment is accessed via our central staircase.

Apartment Configuration:

Room #1: Large Front Room with Queen Bed (sleeps maximum 2). The room is also set up with a loveseat, dining table & chairs. Thus, it is used as part bedroom and part living room. We don’t call it a bedroom because it does not have a closet. It does have a door for privacy. The room is also furnished with a bureau.

Room #2: Large Rear Bedroom Queen Bed (sleeps maximum 2)

Room #3: Small Rear Bedroom with Single/Twin Bed (sleeps maximum 1)

All beds are U.S. Standard size beds.

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT = 10 YEARS: 1871 House is a converted 146 year old Brownstone. In that it is an historic building constructed in the year 1871 there is no elevator and all suites are accessed by our central open staircase. Regretfully, this feature (the house's unenclosed staircase) makes it unsafe for young children under 10 years of age to stay in the house.

Grand Central Station is one subway stop away (take the 4 or 5 one stop from 59th street to Grand Central Station).

About Our Brownstone Building:

Our turn-of-the-century brownstone, known as 1871 HOUSE for the past 20 years, consists of seven generously sized apartment-style suites housed in a classic 19th-century brownstone on an inviting, tree-lined residential street walking distance to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA, The Frick and The Met Breuer Museum. We’re located on 62nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue in the heart of the most famous shopping strip of the Upper East Side of Manhattan and a five minute walk to Central Park. The townhouse is located within the Lenox Hill neighborhood of the Historic Upper East Side.

The house is walking distance to Fifth Avenue and Midtown East with its ubiquitous Corporate Offices as well as midtown Manhattan's exclusive Decoration & Design building (D&D building) and Manhattan Art and Antiques Center. Architects, Designers and Collectors from around the world travel to this area for its concentration of design and home furnishings showrooms and galleries.

Ideal location minutes away from some of the country's best hospitals and medical facilities including Memorial Sloan Kettering, Weill Cornell Medical College, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, New York-Presbyterian hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, the Hospital for Special Surgery and Mount Sinai Hospital.

There is no 4th bed option for this suite. It has ONE full bathroom and a full kitchen. *1000 ft² (93m²) Total 3 rooms plus kitchen and bathroom. Large front room with queen bed and sitting area with ornamental fireplace, large rear bedroom with queen bed, and small rear bedroom with standard twin bed. The front room is a large room with a queen bed. There is no closet in this room but there is a bureau. There is a door which can be closed for privacy.
