About this property

Family Friendly Refurbished Detached Country Cottage set in Castle Grounds

Deep in the heart of leafy Buchanan Castle Estate, just outside the village of Drymen, Strathendrick House is a haven of peace and tranquillity. A vast garden, dominated by an enormous fir, and surrounded by mature trees and an orchard, ensure utter seclusion and privacy.
This prestigious property has been completely upgraded and modernized throughout the winter of 2017-18
In addition to the five charming bedrooms located upstairs, the house now comprises a spacious downstairs bedroom with en-suite, perfect for older family members or those with small children. The newly built state of the art kitchen, with its large island, the centrepiece for socializing and food prep, features a mix of solid wood units, stainless steel and granite. The kitchen adjoins the living area in a vast open plan space, further opening out through french doors onto the beautiful garden and private river. Al fresco dining at your fingertips! The property has three log-burning stoves dotted throughout the living areas and a cosy TV snug. There are three en-suites and 2 public bathrooms, one with a claw footed, Victorian style bath.
The house is tastefully decorated, in a mix of the traditional and modern, and feels much more like a home than a holiday property. There is private access to the stream at the bottom of the garden, trampolines and swings. Although suitable for families, friends, or larger groups, Strathendrick is also suitable for couples looking for a romantic and secluded break. Remember, it is first and foremost a comfortable family home.
The village of Drymen is charming. Local amenities include several fine pubs all serving traditional hot and cold food, a supermarket, a bank, a local butcher, a gallery, souvenir shop and a well-stocked library. There are a variety of events including ceilidhs, regular fairs and dances throughout the year. It is also ideally located for exploring the beauty of Loch Lomond, The Trossachs, and the gateway to the West Highlands.
Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow are all within easy reach.
We supply a complimentary Welcome Pack upon arrival consisting wine, shortbread, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, olive oil & salt & pepper. There is also a Cleaning Starter Pack provided containing all the essentials.

Bliss In the Country
Beautiful home with lots of room. So comfortable and quiet. There was everything you would need. We loved our walks into Drymen on the path and it was the perfect base for some day trips. A great week!

Wonderful weekend in an amazing house
The house was fantastic. Quirky, packed with character and tucked away in stunning gardens. No request was too much trouble for Heather. We hope to be back!

Fantastic
Spent two nights celebrating my 60th birthday with friends in this beautiful house. We received a very warm welcome from Heather who made sure we had everything we needed and was available should we have any questions during our stay. The bedrooms and living areas are very luxurious and comfortable. We loved the outside space too and made full use of the log burners. We would all love to return another time.

Why they chose this property

We wanted a secluded spot, but not isolated, within walking distance to a village and local pub / restaurant. We were looking to bring up a young family in somewhere we could always call home and always look forward to returning to, whatever age we were. And we wanted somewhere special, that excited us each time we arrived. Strathendrick House has achieved everything we wanted and more!

What makes this property unique

Secluded and private but not isolated
Big enough to fit friends and family, small enough to feel warm, welcomed and comfortable
Decorated and finished with charm and taste but not flash
An amazing garden with its own private river
A family of deer that treats our garden as their own
A perfect place to get away but never too far from dining out, a pint or a familiar face
