About the property

Studio, 1 Bathroom, Kitchenette, Sleeps 4

Our studio condo has a large living/sleeping area, a "kitchenette" (Note: no microwave/toaster oven/hot plate per newly enforced county ordinance--applicable resort wide) bathroom with granite counter top and slate flooring, tub/shower combo, and wood storage cabinets below the sink. It has beautiful mountain views from the private lanai. Very conveniently located within the resort...close to the beach path, both pools and the tennis courts! Pool cabana with grills and full kitchen by the pool, just below the lanai. A cabana with coin-operated laundry facilities and a large ice machine are just across the sidewalk from the front door.

Amenities include:

* air conditioning

* coffee make

* pots/pans/dishes/utensils for cooking down at the cabana

The location is very, very convenient within the resort (in the Hala building). It is right by the tennis counts and the beach path. It is also right between the two pools and close to each. The round pool below the lanai has a cabana with propane BBQ grills, tables and a kitchen available for your use. It is really nice to grill while the kids swim, with a quick walk back to the condo when you are done. Just beyond the condo's front walkway is a green lawn by the tennis courts which is a great place to have a picnic and watch the sun set. Also close to the front walkway is a place to rinse off after the beach, a large ice machine (great for coolers) and coin-operated laundry facilities.

About Lisa Craig

We are five close friends (Scott, Rachel, Sean, Lisa & Darcy) who all live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We all LOVE Kauai, and we fell in love with the Hanalei Bay Resort in particular. So when a condo came up for sale, we took the chance, and bought into paradise. There you have it...we hope you will consider sharing our new home away from home with us. Rachel and Lisa will help you with all of your booking needs. Mahalo!

Why Lisa Craig chose Princeville

Oh my...why indeed. The most beautiful resort in the most beautiful town, on the most beautiful island (in our humble opinion) in Hawaii...that's why.

What makes this studio unique

The well landscaped pool and grounds at this resort are spectacular. The short walk (or chauffeured golf cart ride) to a beautiful beach, tennis and golf in close proximity, and the breathtaking sunsets from the fire pit area conspire to make this a truly memorable place to stay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My name is Lisa, and I am one of the new co-owners. My husband and I recently stayed in the #5208 studio for nine nights. This was our first stay in this unit. Another couple was renting the other one bedroom side.

My first impression was that the room is a nice size and I liked the layout. I found that the four large drawers in the dresser were more than adequate accommodations for our clothing. The hooks outside the bathroom were a nice place to hang worn clothing that didn’t need to be laundered yet. We used the shower doors for hanging our wet swim suits. I stored our suitcases, one inside the other, beside the couch next to the sliding glass door. They were out of the way, and added another surface on which to rest a drink.

The bathroom itself is really roomy and nicely done with lots of storage, and cute tiles. There were plenty of towels and wash cloths, and some basic supplies (rubbing alcohol, peroxide) in the medicine chest. The water pressure could be better, but it wasn’t a huge issue.

My husband and I both enjoy cooking and we cooked all but one of our breakfasts and most of our dinners in the studio. The kitchenette, while small, had everything we needed. We felt there was plenty of room to store our groceries on the shelves with the dishes, and in the fridge. There were some staples like salt and pepper, and plastic wrap. We grilled our dinner in the outdoor cabana and used the toaster oven and hot plate for making side dishes. It was nice sitting out on the private lanai to eat our dinner.

Hanalei Bay Resort uses golf carts to get people, their groceries, and luggage to and from condos. Some of the carts are gas powered and a little noisy, but it is so nice not to have to make several trips to and from the car when checking in and out. The cart paths run throughout the resort and are especially convenient for a pick up at the beach after a long day in the sun and swimming in the ocean.

We were concerned about hearing noise from the one bedroom condo next door, but the only time we heard the couple staying there was when they first arrived with all of their luggage and groceries. One of the things I think both sides learn quickly is not to talk too loudly in the “hall zone”—where the lock off doors are, as sound can carry, and we both wanted our privacy. I have experienced this in the other condos I have stayed in at HBR, as well at the Marriott, so the same rules of consideration apply.

I hope this helps!

Property was great, resort not as much

  • 5 of 5

The room was perfectly located at the resort, and puu poa beach was beautiful. Youre right at the intersection of the walk to the pool, the beach,zone and the parking lot where you keep your car. We stayed for 10 days, and the laundry facility was right there which helped us dry all of our clothes when the humidity wouldn't allow it. Not to mention, the price was killer. The room was clean, quaint, and resort staff was very attentive and nice. The whole place was beautiful and the gardens are amazing, along with the kick butt hot tub. If you decide to stay on the North shore this place was great. Only thing I'll add is that the regulations on the rooms don't allow for stoves or microwaves so unless you want to carry all your food and utensils and plates to the grill areas, you're definitely eating cold or eating out. In regard to the rest of the area, this resort doesn't have breakfast or lunch available and the St Regis next door is definitely pricey. The resort restaurants are lacking and expensive. However, hanalei is down the street and has a ton of awesome places to eat/shop. Our problem was the rain... Which closed to bridge to hanalei and the highway to go south so we were restricted to a few restaurants in princeville center. The river also dumps into hanalei Bay and you can't swim in the muddy water, nor will the resort rent you equipment during times of muddy water. I'd definitely time it right with the sunny seasons. As far as the room goes and the service level, it was really wonderful. Plus they keep beach chairs, umbrellas, etc in the room for you to use at the beach which was really great considering you can't bring those items flying, and they're really expensive in town. My husband loves princeville and the North shore and finds it the most beautiful area of all the islands, so we weren't going to stay anywhere else. For the price, I was really impressed with the views and convenience of the location. Would recommend.

Great stay at Hanalei Bay Resort!

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time staying in this resort. The unit is located perfectly within the resort. It is close to pools/hot tub, ice machine, laundry, the beach walking path, grilling facility, tennis courts, etc. The grounds and view from the resort are beautiful. The bed was super comfy, kitchen adequate, great view from lanai. The only complaint I have is not having fresh towels (bath & kitchen) at least halfway through our 10 day stay. Cleaning service offered half way through would have been nice also considering all the sand you tend to bring in after the beach.

Hanalei Stay

  • 5 of 5

Hanalei Bay is probably the most beautiful place I've ever been in my life. The resort is beautiful, and we very much enjoyed the condo. It was close to everything, the pool, the beach Trail, restaurant, and laundry. We would highly recommend it to anyone!

We did not know there were beach chairs until the end. ( they were under the bed)There were no notes from the owner, as to what was available for us. The location and resort itself were wonderful.

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and had a fantastic experience at this resort. The owner Rachel gave great instructions and answered us right away if we had any questions. The condo was clean and had everything we needed. The bed was really comfortable too! The condo was in a great spot close to tennis courts, pools, grills, hot tub, bar, and beach! We wished we could've stayed longer!
