Spacious and comfortable
Large, comfortable, pleasant, easy to use. Minor issues: hair dryer not properly functional, dirty towel in storage, but it was a bit of a problem finding that the heavy furniture pictured on the roof terrace was not actually on the roof terrace when I arrived. It is very heavy and had to be carried up the stairs (and back again). Still, this could not change to apartment itself, which was very nice. (As was Claudia) who met us)
Wonderful light filled modern flat with roof terrace on Giudecca
A lovely, comfortable and peaceful flat full of light - ideal for two though the sofa converts to a bed - on the third floor of a very nice architect designed modern block (with lift) looking out to sea on one side on Guidecca in a quiet residential area populated by Venetian families. The flat has everything you need with a small terrace off the large kitchen/living room and a larger roof terrace upstairs with 360 degree views - both filled with plants. Wifi, CD player/CDs and books. Three minutes walk from Palanca Vaporetto stop giving very easy access to Dosoduro and central Venice. En-route to Palanca you walk by a very well stocked Co-op supermarket as well as wonderful restaurants and shops including fish, fruit and veg, bakery, chemist etc on the waterfront. Elena the very helpful owner (who vacates the flat for you to stay) communicated directly with us by email and lovely local woman Claudia who speaks English met us at Palanca to walk to the flat and show us around. Not an issue but we should have thought to take some UK to Italy 3 pin in a row plug adaptors as there was just one in flat! Thanks you we look forward very much to staying again!
Sophisticated apartment on Giudecca, Venice
What a lovely apartment, just perfect for two, in a super location on Giudecca, our favourite place to stay in Venice. Wonderful roof terrace for eating outside and sunbathing. Calm and tranquil right next to the lagoon..and sunny too. Just brilliant. Many thanks.
Great placed to stay!
If you want to stay on the quiet side of Venice, but easy access to the center of Venice, this is the place to stay!
The apartment is of modern construction and roomy with a rooftop garden with views of the Venitian lagoon. It is well decorated and attractive with wood floors.
The bathroom is large by European standards with quality fixtures including a deep full-size bathtub!
The Kitchen is well equipped for cooking, but I never used it with so many great places nearby including Coffe/snack/Restaurants (Called "Bar" in Italy) just a few steps away on the Campo Junghans square and a short walk to the canal walkway near the Palanca vaporetto stop.
The vaporetto service is excellent, they run often with several lines servicing the Palanca stop that will take you to all parts of Venice including St Marks square which is just a few stops away.
The apartment has a radio, but no TV. The WiFi worked flawlessly.
The listing was accurate, there were no surprises. The owner was very good at communicating and everything went very well. I recieved excellent customer service. I would recommend this property to family and friends for their stay in Venice.
This is a lovely apartment tucked away in a quiet spot on the Giudecca. It offers great amenity; a balcony, roof terrace, wooden floors, floor to ceiling windows which open for a breeze, wifi, air conditioning, washing machine, gas hob, and a lift...in Vence this is extraordinary, and all at a great price.
You are staying in a home; so if you prefer anonymity and not to know where you are then this is not for you! I enjoyed looking after the plants on the balcony and the terrace, of which there are many. Look out of the window and you will look out on the boats of the other residents of the building. This is a modern building with modern Giudeccans living in it. Close proximity to a school means that from time to time you hear the children, and the campo next to the building is where children play, students meet at the cafe, and families chat in the late afternoon. I have been to Venice many times and was captivated by this modern and living community which is not dominated by tourists. I am returning later in the year to the same rental and that was the only thing that softened our departure.
At the same time, a short walk and one bridge away you will find a small supermarket, a bakery, a fish shop, and other little retailers, cafes and restaurants. The Vaporetto stop links you with the rest of Venice and you can be transported quickly into the thick of it or further afield to Murano or the Lido.
I do not hesitate to recommend this place. I am being generous as I do not want to share it with anyone! The owner was a pleasure to deal with and everyone friendly and gracious. Our plane was unavoidably late, having communicated this, we were met and taken to the apartment without complaint and at no extra charge.
Things that will make your stay in Venice more of a pleasure...it will help you if you speak a little Italian, or are prepared to try to learn some. Trying can result in tables becoming available in restaurants. Many Venetians speak English but....
Buy a Venezia Unica card that gives you access to the vaporettos for the duration of your visit. Being on the Giudecca this is pretty much a necessity! Spend a little time working out how the Vaporettos work. There are timetables on line and at each stop.
Be considerate of the Venetians, they are remarkably courteous and polite people, a grazie will be rewarded with a smile, particular care is given to the elderly and those with little children.
Have a wonderful time!
Giudecca treasure !
This is a great place to stay for independent travellers. Unusually for Venice, the apartment is in an impressive, low-rise modern quarter yet with canals, boats and the southern lagoon alongside.
The flat is clean, comfortable, secure and full of light. The roof terrace is a wonderful bonus. A very helpful English-speaking caretaker is just a phone call away if you need any assistance. It's also quiet so you can sleep well.
The island of Giudecca is an authentic local community offering a range of small shops and good-value eating places. We loved the friendly "Food & Arts Cafe" just across the square . The island is also very interesting to walk round and travel to and from the rest of Venice is easy from the Palanca vaporetti stop.
I would highly recommend this property. The owner offers lots of useful information and communication with her is very good. Payment went smoothly.
