Two bedrooms and quick convert Ikea (Friheten) sectional sofa sleeper. Sleeps a total of 6. Everything furnished new this year. New well stocked kitchen items and bedroom linens. New LG Smart TV with magic remote and web browser. Gas fireplace, and jetted tub. Including new Signature Sleep memory foam mattress, and a Serta Perfect Sleeper. Great downtown location. Seven blocks from the heart of the city and three and a half blocks to the University. Trax red line train is just around the corner.
This home is just enough out of the city and surrounded by large maple trees and attractive older homes. You will feel secluded but be in walking distance to many attractions. It has a big community garden in the parking strip in the front of the house that has been recently written about in a local magazine, and is popular in the neighborhood. The front and backyard are always available to guests and are fun and attractive spaces to hang out. This is a downstairs loft style apartment with tall ceilings and polished concrete floors, and exposed wood beams. Keyless (code) private entry allows you to arrive at anytime.
Guest Access
Guests have total access to the entire private space, which includes: two bedrooms, a large bathroom, living room and kitchen/dining area. They also have access to the patio in the front and backyard. Kitchen is stocked to serve 6. The table seats 4. There is an iron and ironing board, hair dryer and toiletries. Plenty of on street parking.
The Neighborhood
3.5 blocks walking distance to the University of Utah. 6.5 to The Tower theater for Sundance films. 1.5 to trax for downtown travel and to the airport. 3.5 to Trader Joe's and just a few more blocks to Whole foods. 4 blocks to bike rentals. This home is located on Broadway which is a popular street for cafés, shops and small bars. The heart of downtown is about 7 blocks away.
Getting around
Public transit could not be better at this location. Just around the corner (1.5 blocks) is the Trax red line (light rail). Transfer to the green line to get to the airport.
We loved the weekend up here. It was nice and cozy with full furnishings.
The fridge wasn't cleaned out, but nothing in it was spoiled so just taking 1 star off for that.
Otherwise a lovely place :)
The place was perfect for us. We hope to use it again next time we come to Salt Lake. Thanks again for great hospitality.
Our family of five loved staying in David's basement apartment. Beautifully decorated, well equipped, quiet, and comfortable, this was the perfect place for us while exploring Salt Lake City. Thank you!
Perfect location, waking distance to University of Utah. No sidewalk or pavement in front of building or along the side of the house to access rental. Hard to pull luggage on dirt trails. Parking is along a busy street. We never found parking near the residence in the evenings. We came with an 81 year old woman. The rock spiral entry stairs proved difficult to tackle as was the jacuzzi tub with a shower head installed overhead. Rental was spotlessly clean but every time my husband stepped on the rugs that covered the stained cement floors, he would slide across the room. Great beds but very little natural lighting in the entire residence. No thermostat. Room temperature must be determined by upstairs tenets. This vacation rental is perfect for younger tenants but we found it to be too inconvenient for us .
The only complaint I have is that the front bedroom's bed and the pull-out sofa bed were very uncomfortable. Otherwise it was quiet, fairly clean, well-stocked and centrally located. It is dark because it is in a basement, and really only big enough for two couples since you wouldn't want to use the sofa bed.
This is the second time we stayed in David's apartment and it is very comfortable and in a great location. We love it so much we will be staying here again in a few months. David is a pleasure to work with.
Three blocks away is the university and a handful of restaurants. Check out the summer concert series at Red Butte near the University, it is a beautiful outdoor venue. Museums near the university as well.
