The Timberline Cottage is a quintessential Tahoe cabin.

This cozy cabin is perfect for 1-2 couples (4 adult maximum) or a family up to 5 for your summer or winter vacation on the beautiful and convenient West Shore of Lake Tahoe. It is located in the quiet neighborhood of Timberland, on a well-maintained cul-de-sac (no through traffic). You'll feel comfortable having the kids and dog playing in the yard area around the house, knowing the car traffic is at a minimum here.

You'll enjoy a fully-equipped cabin with washer and dryer, a large wrap-around deck with outdoor dining and BBQ area, a 6 person hot tub and off street parking for 3 cars in summer and 2 cars during winter. The driveway has a pitch to it that can make it difficult to navigate during winter so we recommend guest arriving in winter do so with a 4 wheel drive vehicle after a big snowstorm. Inside a mud room with ski racks and boot & glove dryer, full size washer and dryer, mountain decor and architecture, 39' flat screen TV with High-Def cable, TiVo DVR, and Blueray DVD player are all available to make your stay feel like home. There is a second DVD player in the second bedroom, making it the perfect spot for the kids to settle in and watch a movie before bed. Secure 50MB wireless internet access is available for all your electronic devices. Central heating will keep you warm and cozy, and a gas fireplace in the living room adds extra warmth and ambiance. A fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom, and all bedding is provided to make your stay simple, comfortable, enjoyable, and relaxing.

Lake Tahoe itself is located less than a 1/2 mile away and walking distance to Hurricane Bay, a public access beach. Popular activities include fishing, boating, swimming, paddle boarding, kite boarding, kayaking, canoeing, sun bathing on the beach, etc.

Drive or bike one mile to three great restaurants: Sunnyside Resort, Firesign Cafe, and Spoon; a ski/snowboard rental shop (West Shore Sports), and a mini-mart/deli/liquor store (Sunnyside Market) are also a 1 mile away from the cabin.

At the end of the block you will find Rideout Community Center, located at 740 Timberland Lane, that offers the following services to kids and adults alike: Outdoor playground, Full-Size Indoor Gym, Exercise Room, Pool Table, Ping Pong, Foosball, Air Hockey, Board Games, Cubby Play House For Toddlers, Computer Lab and Free Wi-Fi, Recreation Programs, Classes and Sports Leagues. Cost: Only $2 per person, per day; $4 per person if showering.

And just across Highway 89, you'll find Hurricane Bay, one of the nicest public access beaches in Tahoe!

In winter, you can grab a shuttle from Sunnyside Resort that will pick-up and drop-off at Alpine Meadows' Sherwood lift, which is only 3 miles/5 minute drive up Ward Creek Road. Cross country skiing, back country skiing, and snowshoeing is accessible right out of the back door. Family-friendly Homewood Ski Resort is only 2.5 miles away and world renowned Squaw Valley is just 20 minutes away.

In summer, the Tahoe Rim Trailhead and /Stanford Rock trailheads can both be accessed by single track right at the end of the block for your mountain biking and hiking enthusiasts. Less than .5 miles away, 15 miles of paved bike path makes for great family fun with commanding lake views. The bike path is also used for roller-blades, jogging, walking or access to the Truckee river for fishing and rafting. For those looking for more of a challenge, try biking up to either Alpine Meadows or Squaw Valley ski resorts on the bike path along Hwy 89.

Tahoe City is a short 3.5 miles drive where you will find all the amenities expected in a small mountain town: lake-side fine dining, shopping, coffee shops, bars, grocery & drug stores, ethnic food restaurants, movie theater, yoga studios & day spas, fitness clubs, banks, golf courses, bike/ski/snowboard rentals, river rafting, fly fishing, boat rentals, etc.

For additional nightlife options, gambling casinos and live concerts can be found in Crystal Bay, located at the California-Nevada boarder, 10 miles (20 minutes drive) north of Tahoe City. At the north and opposite end of our street (corner of Cedar Land and Timberland Rd), is the trailhead to Ward Creek Park, a designated California State Park. The Park is 180 acres and has an extensive trail system that ties in with the bike path along Highway 89, connects with USFS trails to Stanford Rock, Twin Peaks, the Tahoe Rim Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, and Paige Meadows.

Tahoe City is only five miles to the Squaw Valley turn-off, which is home to the 1960 Winter Olympics. Tahoe City also has public beaches, a marina, and a downtown area that is charming and filled with local shops, restaurants, and other commercial services. Tahoe City has many local events and many look forward to the seasonal Farmers’ Market, Free Beach Movies, and Sunday afternoon live music concerts on the beach. In the winter, many consider the SnowFest week of activities one of the best events of the entire year in the Tahoe City area. Tahoe City’s close proximity to Lake Tahoe recreational activities such as boating, hiking, biking (dirt and paved trails), tennis, golf, skiing, shopping, and restaurants makes this a great area for those that enjoy being outdoors, and getting away from it all.

The cabin is centrally located and backs up to public-access Forest Service land. The cabin is located along the west shore of Lake Tahoe, 3.5 miles south of Tahoe City, in the Sunnyside area (Timberland neighborhood). The cabin is .5 miles from Lake Tahoe, 3 miles to the Sherwood lift parking lot at Alpine Meadows, 1.5 miles to the Pacific Rim trail head, .5 mile to the bike path, 1.5 mile to three restaurants, and two blocks kids playground and community center. There are three excellent dining choices about a mile of the house, all highly visible on Hwy 89, that are all right across the street from each other.

Sunnyside Resort offer high-end lakeside dining, Spoon offers family style dining, Firesign Cafe is a great breakfast and lunch spot, and Sunnyside Market and Deli where you can pick up deli-style sandwiches and basics (i.e. milk, eggs, bread, beer, soda, ice cream, etc.).

There are other options about 3 miles to the south on Hwy 89 around Homewood many, many more about 3 miles to the north in and around Tahoe City.
