|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
Sailing vessel (s/v) Beagle Knot is a 38' catamaran. We can accommodate up to 4 guests.
We sail the Virgin Islands during the winter (Nov - April) and we sail Grenada and the Grenadines in the summer (June - August). We invite you to discover these islands and their surroundings, via the sea, naturally.
In the virgin islands there is the choice of three groups of islands: the British Virgin Islands (BVI), the US Virgin Islands (USVI) and the virgin islands of Puerto Rico also known as the Spanish Virgin Islands. The BVI and the USVI can be visited together. The Spanish VI are a little further afield but are worth the trip all by themselves.
In Grenada both the sea and the land base attractions are vying for your attention. We can help you balance both, depending on your preferences.
Your crew, Denis the Captain and LaDonna the chef, organizer and everything else on the boat offer you three levels of service:
Full board: Everything is included, all your meals, breakfast, lunches, munchies, dinners. It includes wine, beer, cocktails, sundowners, etc.. We cook for you, we take care of the dishes. Real vacations for you. We recommend Full Board for Grenada and the Grenadines as restaurants are not always close by.
Half board: It the same as Full Board, except we supply half the lunches and dinners. This gives you plenty of opportunities to discover the local restaurants. This is a great option in the USVI and BVI.
Captain only. Nothing is included except for the boat and the good services of the Captain. You are in charge of provisioning for your stay: food, wine, alcohol, beer. We provide the linens for the beds, the towels, snorkeling gear. You do the cooking, you do the dishes, you top up the water and diesel tanks. I am sure it's a good solutions for some. If your spouse is the one who cooks, make sure to run this by her/him for his opinion!

It is hard to do better than a crewed sailing yacht vacation in the Caribbean. All the pieces of a magic puzzle come together. The beauty of the islands, the sailing conditions, the weather, the water, the food, the bays in which to anchor, the natural wonders, the sea creatures, the food – did we mention the food? What else can we say? Oh yes!! The boat and the crew! We would love to have you aboard Beagle Knot on your next vacation.
Beagle Knot is a Lagoon 380 catamaran built in 2003 out of fiberglass, it is 38 ft (11,5m) long and 21 ft (6,4m) wide. The trampoline, the salon, the cockpit and the galley are about on the same level, up. The bedrooms (cabins) and the bathrooms (heads) are down in the hulls. Catamarans are very stable and don’t rock too much at anchor.
Beagle Knot can accommodate a couple very comfortably, (Queen size bed, own bathroom) or two couples, or a couple with two children. The second couple – or the children – will share a slightly smaller bed (Queen size at the head but narrower at the feet) and will share with the first two persons the above mentioned bathroom.
The social life happens in the cockpit and in the saloon. Both are large enough for at least six adults.
YOUR CREW. Denis and LaDonna, a husband and wife team, have one goal: for you to have a great vacation.
Denis grew up in France where he started sailing when about 12. In the 70’s and early 80s, competitive sailing was his consuming passion. In 1982 he finished 2nd at the 5o5 French championship in the bay of Mount St. Michel, and 21st at the 5o5 World championship in Cork, Ireland.
Forward twenty years and in 1999, Denis introduced LaDonna to the pleasures of sailing on Kentucky Lake. The next year LaDonna and Denis went on their honeymoon to the British Virgin Islands and had the time of their life. LaDonna loved the sailing and over the next years Denis and LaDonna went on frequent sailing trips and visited the Los Angeles area islands, the San Juan islands north west of Seattle, the Florida Keys, Grenada and of course, the Virgin Islands.
The next logical step was to live full time on a boat. This happened in early 2013, LaDonna and Denis purchased Beagle Knot and refitted it to make it ready for you to visit.
Denis has certification in Coastal and Celestial Navigations and holds a US Coast Guard Captain’s license.
LaDonna is an Intensive Care Nurse, a fabulous organizer, first mate and cook. LaDonna is extremely knowledgeable in sea life and an excellent snorkeling guide. Her collection of sea creature photographs is impressive. Some call her the turtle whisperer.
Have the vacation YOU choose. From sunbathing, reading, stargazing on the trampolines at night to hiking, sailing, swimming, snorkeling or paddle boarding, the list of activities is very broad. We love to cook. Eating aboard is very relaxing but there are some really great restaurants and fun beach bars to explore too. The on-land scene runs the gamut from listening to live music, enjoying a family-friendly full moon party at Trellis Bay to people watching – or playing - at some of the wilder places.
If you enjoy scuba diving or want to learn we can arrange this with a local scuba-diving operator. Shopping on St Thomas is a sport all of its own that many enjoy - and not just women. Because this is a duty free island, it is well-known for jewelry, liquor, beauty products, perfumes and electronics. There is also the possibility of big game fishing which also needs to be arranged with a local operator.
The sailing here in the Virgin Islands is fantastic. The trade winds blow steadily and with so many islands to explore you can choose between long relaxing sails and short hops.
Because Beagle Knot is a catamaran we don’t “heel” or tilt to one side while sailing and at anchor the boat doesn’t roll around as much as a monohull. Do you want to learn how to sail? Denis will be happy to teach you.
