Through a weird twist of last minute travel plans, I ended up making my journey to Amsterdam alone (a solo female 60 year old traveler). Even though I’m a veteran traveler, I was a little nervous arriving in a strange city, in the darkest part of winter, at night, alone. Emmanuelle was above and beyond helpful and kind. She responded almost immediately if I had questions or concerns and even sent photos of the key pick up place near the train station (easy), bus and walking routes, and the VRBO entrance door to help me find it easier (I have bad vision, and I do know some European cities don’t have easy street names or sequential house numbers). The apartment was perfect. The neighborhood was perfect. I had read the other reviews and came prepared for some “city noise” (because that’s what I expect in the city)—and didn’t need them. It might have been because it’s was off-season, but I found the neighborhood peaceful and lovely. Easy walkable access to the fantastic Amsterdam transit system was a huge win, as well as close, walkable location to cafes, stores, even the train station (about 15 minutes walk). I didn’t sit outside in the back “pocket” garden because it was cold out but it was still a pretty garden to look at through the windows, even in winter.
Highly recommend! I would definitely stay here again!
