The Home

Perched on top of Rocky Face Ridge over looking the city of Sylva, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, it is easy to get lost in the beauty of The Aerie and Western North Carolina. Hand crafted by the current owner and his late wife, the warmth and enjoyment they have instilled into this cabin home can be felt from the first step into the home. Amazing cedar and pine woodwork frame the walls and ceiling, creating an opening and inviting space. The large wrap-around deck provides stunning one hundred eighty degree views, perfect for spotting birds and animals of all types.

The owners have furnished the home with decor from local craftsmen and distinguished North Carolina Artists. The plush furnishings ensure every guest has a comfortable seat by the fireplace and a cozy bed to rest their eyes. The three large bedrooms, two and one half bathrooms, plus game area and living space is the perfect vacation for both family getaways or working professionals looking to escape from the bustle of the city. The fully stocked kitchen features all gas appliances, instant hot water heaters, dishwasher and trash compactor as well as a large walk-in pantry, great for chef's of all skill level.

The Greater Smoky Mountain Area

Enjoy the entertainment and warm character of the local citizens and businesses. The welcoming towns of Sylva and Dillsboro are just 5 and 10 minutes away respectively on the 74. The larger cities of Waynesville and Ashville are 20 and 45 minutes away and create fantastic half-day trips for some of North Carolina's most vibrant shopping and food & Beverage scenes. Access roads to the Blue Ridge Parkway are just a few miles down Highway 74 and are some of the most beautiful roads in North America.

On the dividing line of the Blue Ridge National Park, the Aerie is located next to fantastic hiking trails just feet from the front door. The drive from highway 23 to The Aerie may take between 15 - 30 minutes depending on weather conditions and familiarity with mountain driving and the local roads. While the road to The Aerie is well maintained, those with an aversion to heights may have difficulty reaching the cabin. All vehicles are capable of reaching The Aerie during dry, summer like conditions, 4-wheel drive is encouraged during winter months.

The Aerie is the perfect house for nature lovers, adventure seekers, retired couples, families, and those looking to escape from the world.

Gorgeous Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

We traveled to Sylva to visit family and be there for the Eclipse 2017. The Aerie is a wonderful home! First of all its absolutely gorgeous, when you walk in the front door you are immediately drawn straight ahead to the awesome view of the mountains, it's breathtaking. Then you turn around and realize the house you are standing in and all of it's beauty! Every room has charm and is decorated so nicely. The kitchen has everything you could imagine you need, dishes, silverware, coffee pot, etc. There are plenty of towels and linens throughout, extra blankets too. The Aerie is CLEAN as if you were the only ones to have ever visited there. There really is not one negative thing I can say about it. We had a wonderful time relaxing and I would come back just to see the sunsets off the back deck every night.

Owner's Response: Steve, thank you very much for your honest review. We would like to once again apologize for the unfortunate circumstance that occurred with the well going dry during your stay. Due to the house being located in a very remote location, the property is provided water through an onsite well system. We have never experienced issues with the well before, and we were distraught that it ran dry while Steve and his family were staying with us. We have since begun excavation of a new well on the property as well as installing a back-up reservoir system to prevent an issue such as this arising again. We hope that you will come back and stay with us again. Sincerely, Altez Vacations Team

Heaven at 4000 feet

  • 5 of 5

It was awesome! We had a lovely, peaceful vacation in a house that was just wonderful! I sat on the deck every single morning while I drank my tea and enjoyed the cool air. The house had everything you could need in the beautiful kitchen. It was great,,, and we will definitely return! The drive up was longer than we anticipated and I would not want to make it in the dark the first time, that's for sure! But we got used to it pretty quickly.

breathtakingly beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This property was clean, spacious and simply beautiful. The views from the deck were captivating and the large windows made us feel like we were living outdoors. The house was supplied with all we needed and our stay was delightful.

We enjoyed meandering in all the nearby towns and trails. Tubing, white-water rafting, hiking and lounging made for a pleasant week. The long and winding road to the house was scenic as well as steep, but we didn't have any problems with it.

This would be a great house for families to unwind from the busy pace of life and enjoy the great outdoors.

Located In the smoky mountains between Sylva and Waynesville, Dillsboro which is only 10.2 miles away. Ashville is only 45 miles from the cabin; enjoy the day at the Biltmore Estates. The Blue Ridge Parkway entrance is only minutes away. Hike the famous Appalachian trail. Fish in some of the best mountain lakes and streams. The Cherokee Indian Reservation and Maggie Valley where you will find a casino and ski resort are always fun destinations. Go white river tubing or kayaking, shop in the quaint towns of Waynesville, Sylvia, and Dillsboro. It is the best vacation and renewal spot for families and friends, or a very romantic get away!
