Buckskin Guest House is nestled on 58 acres of beautiful woods yet is just a few miles from all that Crosslake and the Whitefish Chain have to offer. Its large private deck overlooks two environmental lakes and the view of the starry sky at night is incredible.

Hiking trails are right outside the door and the bike/walking trail through Crosslake is about a mile away. Close to the swimming beaches, golf courses, boat launches, boat and toy rentals, and more, the Guest House provides a central location for access to fun! And for a night out, enjoy convenient access to the many restaurants and take advantage of the shuttle service that will pick you up and bring you back to the Guest House. Or stay in and have a fire in the private fire pit or grill your own food on either the gas or charcoal grill.

If you’re snowmobiling, a right turn out of the driveway gives you access to the trails north of Crosslake. A left turn takes you on the snowmobile trail to the Crosslake trail heads (and to restaurants, gas, convenience and liquor stores) giving you many different ride options—a different ride every day. No long access spurs or bumpy, windblown lakes to get to the trails. We're on the groomed trail system!

We are one of the closest lodging options for the Nordic Ridge Ski Trail system for cross country skiing. The ski trails can be accessed from the yard by following the snowmobile trail a short ways and pick them up where they cross the snowmobile trail or take a short drive (about 2 miles) to the Crosslake Community Center (located across the lake) and access the trail system from there.

For bike enthusiasts, the Cuyuna Mountain Bike Trail System is only about 20 miles away! Now there's an adventure for sure.

The comfortable 2 bedroom, 1 bath second story Guest House has the “up north” feel with knotty pine, fireplace and all modern amenities. There is sleeping room for 7 with a queen bed in one room, a twin over double bunk bed in the second bedroom, and a double futon in the living room. The first floor “gear room” provides an easy place to store your gear and get it out of your way. The yard is large to accommodate boat or snowmobile trailers.

The modern Guest House is fully furnished and includes bedding and towels. The kitchen is also fully equipped with cookware, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishwasher and plenty of counter space. A first floor washer and dryer is also available.

Crosslake US Army Corp of Engineers Campground

Crosslake has a small town, neighborhood feel and features dozens of lakes, including the 14 interconnected lakes of the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. In all, the Whitefish Chain includes more than 13,500 acres of water, 119 miles of shoreline, and dozens of bays and islands. The Chain offers great opportunities for boating, fishing, skiing, swimming, and so much more. The dockside restaurants are a favorite in the summers and also provide beautiful views for winter sledders.

The Pine River Dam in Crosslake – at the U.S Army Corps of Engineers Recreation Area—just 3 miles from the Guest House is a sight to see on the Whitefish Chain. You can watch the rushing water from the overlook or cast a line and try your hand at fishing. The Cross Lake Recreation Area offers a wonderful sandy swim beach, nice shady picnic areas and a convenient boat launch with large parking areas. Crosslake is one of the most picturesque communities – year-round – in all of Minnesota. All four seasons are thoroughly enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Recreational opportunities are plentiful throughout the seasons.

And, Crosslake is more than just a stopping point on the road. It is a town offering an amazing hardware store (if you can’t find it there you probably don’t need it), a large, modern grocery store, over a dozen great restaurants (many lakeside), several banks, churches, gas/convenient stores, and shops. And, a sports rental shop is nearby that rents snowmobiles and jetskis. And all these conveniences are just 1-3 miles from the Guest House.

A great thing about the Guest House is how easy it is to get to town (a mile or so and it’s a fairly easy walk or bike ride in the summer and for snowmobilers, you just follow the groomed trail right from the driveway) yet enjoy the seclusion of the 18 acres of woods surrounded by wildlife areas and views of two environmental lakes.
