About the property

2 Bd/ 2 Bath Sleeps 6

'Sarah's Bear Heaven' is a vaulted ceiling 'A' Frame ski Chalet minutes from the Ober Gatlinburg ski area and just a 5 min drive down ski mountain road to downtown Gatlinburg or the National Park entrance. Check out our video (hit the button beside photos) and see more incredible views from the deck, the aerial tram to Ober Gatlinburg passing by, amazing close up guest video of a comical little wild bear family just 2 blocks from the chalet on the way down the mountain, and our favorite ending driving by wild turkeys at Cades Cove. The view from the front deck of the mountains and sunrises is incredible, watch the Tram from the front deck as it climbs up to the Ober Ski Lodge. The Chalet has two levels with a king bedroom on each equipped with beautiful wall mounted electric fireplaces. There is trundle bed in the loft that can convert to two twins, and a pull out queen sleeper sofa on the main floor. Amenities include a full kitchen, free Wi-Fi, cable TV, central heat A/C, wood burning natural stone fireplace (we supply some easy to use and clean burning duralogs), pool table room with electric fireplace and arcade game, board games, card table, and hot tub. New convenient 2 burner propane grill. Featured on HGTV's House Hunters episode #65 01! Come and experience what guests from our 63 first year bookings enjoyed as we continue to decorate the chalet with local artisan works and classic Gatlinburg bear and ski prints. Enjoy all the entertainment and action in downtown Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge including Ripley's Aquarium and Dollywood Amusement park, then escape up ski mountain road to the privacy of your own chalet. Take scenic drives to nearby Clingman's dome observation tower, follow a beautiful rushing river road off the Gatliburg bypass to Cades Cove, or take the roaring forks auto tour right out of Gatlinburg. The area has something for everyone from free Moonshine & wine tastings to the Arts and Craft Pittman center along Glades Rd with glass blowers, potters, and chainsaw carvers. Whether you are looking for a romantic weekend away in a real 'A' frame ski chalet or an unforgettable family vacation we welcome you to try a stay at Sarah's Bear Heaven Chalet.

You won't forget the view. Access to all three Chalet Village owners club areas and swimming pools from Memorial day through Labor day. Check out our links sections.

Enjoy several restaurant and attraction discount offers with the Owners Club guest pass.

You are just minutes from the Ober Gatlinburg ski area open year round, or try a mountain coaster ride.

Check out our review section, everyone has been very impressed with the view and our attempts to keep a rustic ski cabin feel to the tastefully decorated chalet.

***Our No Surprises Section- Stairs-Bears- 4wd in the winter***

1 -Do note the stairs to the chalet in picture #2 ( our stairway to heaven LOL) three flights , but well worth it when you see the view from our deck without that scary feel like you are falling off the edge of the mountain.

2- Bears can randomly wander through or if you are very lucky stop and eat berries, nuts, and wild plums in the trees at any cabin in the area especially in the late summer and fall as they get ready to hibernate. Do not leave food in your car or any trash outside. Never feed wild bears. They are special and amazing to see- ( cubs high in our plum tree is something we will never forget) but we do not need any more bear families killed for human mistakes please.

3- Gatlinburg does a great job with the roads in winter, but 4wd/ Awd is recommended in the winter. The roads to our Chalet village cabin are all paved but that awesome view comes from being in the mountains on the Gatlinburg skyline not far from the Ober Gatlinburg ski area.

Enjoy and check out our review section. Our over 100 guests have left great tips and advise.

About Dan and Cathy Griffiths

We are currently local's living on Douglas lake in nearby Dandridge, relocating from several other beautiful areas including Vancouver BC by the Rocky Mountains, Columbus Ohio, and Ontario Canada near Niagara Falls. We have been using vrbo to book our own vacations for several years now and prefer the flexibility of fully functional and private vacation homes over hotel rooms .

Dan and Cathy Griffiths purchased this chalet in 2014

Why Dan and Cathy Griffiths chose Chalet Village

We love our house on the lake but always seem to be bringing guests to Gatlinburg. We missed the rocky mountain views of Vancouver, and one view from the deck sold us on this chalet. It's a view that needs to be shared. Close to the action and fun in Gatlinburg (plenty of live music on the weekends), but just a short drive up ski mountain road for plenty of relaxation, privacy, and scenic views at the chalet. We were used to mountain roads but found this was one we were more comfortable driving to (and we found the Gatlinburg bypass is a nice alt route if we want to avoid the city traffic and enter on the south side of town where the first light is ski mountain road). The front of the property is terraced with some stairs to climb, but you get to enjoy great mountain views without a scary 40ft drop off the edge of deck like other mountain side properties we have stayed at. You will see the town of Gatlinburg from our front deck and a great view of Mt Leconte.

Off street parking can handle up to 3 cars.

What makes this chalet unique

Watch the tram climb to the ski area. Most of the year when the tram windows are open you can hear the excitement as they gently swing over one of the main towers right ion front of the chalet. See the beautiful fall mountain leaves change color, and on the right day see why they call them the Smokies.

Most guests have commented on the incredible morning sunrises as they enjoyed coffee on the front deck, can be very colorful on the right day when there is a little breaking cloud cover.

The view, the view, the view

  • 5 of 5

Sarah's bear haven was amazing. If you can't tell from my review title, the view was incredible. My wife and I loved going out on the front deck in the morning with some coffee to take in the scenery. The chalet was great too. Everything was clean and well accommodated and had the type of cabin vibes my wife and I were looking for. We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone.

Great Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for two nights on our way back from Myrtle beach and it was perfect. The whole family enjoyed the hot tub, pool table and playing cards! My husband and I enjoyed the sun rise every morning over the beautiful mountains. The view was to die for.
