About Susan Brunner

Following years of studying, working and traveling in France, we are complete Francophiles hoping to retire to Burgundy in the future. Our daughters both love France too, and although still at school and university, spend as much time as possible working with us to ensure that the rentals at Rue Montmeix are everything you could want. Sometimes we will be there to welcome guests, but on the occasions we are not, we have a wonderful local manager to look after you. The most enjoyable thing is sharing recommendations of wine and food between our guests and recommending local attractions.

Susan Brunner purchased this house in 2011

Why Susan Brunner chose Meursault

After years of wanting to buy in France, we had decided on the wine villages of Burgundy as our favorite location. We wanted to be in one of the prime villages of the area, with easy access to beautiful Beaune. Unable to find property to rent of the quality we required over the years, we were thrilled to find the house through a local firm of property designers and builders - although needing total renovation we fell in love with the charm and peace of numéro 6 immediately, totally won over by the stone, woodwork and fabulously peaceful views.

What makes this house unique

Rue Montmeix is truly our piece of paradise, which we love sharing! Uniquely positioned only 150 metres from the village square and all its amenities (2 bakers, great butcher, small supermarket, kitchen shop, Tabac, three or four restaurants and 50 vignerons!), the two houses that we rent out have been newly renovated from the beautiful stone winemaker's barn that our house (yet to be renovated!) is part of. The houses are calm and quiet, light and cool in summer, and warm and cosy in the winter, with some amazing stone walls and a beautiful oak frame, all carefully renovated by local master craftsmen. They face south, with a small vineyard in front, a newly reclaimed one being planted to the right, and views up to the vine-covered hills.

The outside space is huge, especially for a wine village - each house has its own parking space, lots of privacy and its own outside bbq and eating area. In addition, the two rentals share a luxurious decked area, boule court area, and top of the range hot tub.

Beautiful stay in the picture perfect French town

  • 5 of 5

Look no further if you want to stay in a wonderful location steps away from one of the prettiest villages in burgundy, Mersault. The property overlooks a vineyard on one side and is just steps away from this charming town on the other side. It is full of amenities including a welcome basket with champagne, an on-site landlady who could not be more delightful, Wi-Fi, washer and dryer and dishwasher, beautiful outdoor area for enjoying wine overlooking the vineyards while still being a stones throw away from the local bakery, grocery store, wine tasting, and several excellent places to eat. The unit we were in - Le Clos - was charming. But not to be recommended for elder guests or people who may have issues with stairs. Fortunately we did not have these and we loved our two weeks at this great rental. Thank you Susan for all your attentions - you couldn't have been nicer - making us reservations, recommending places to eat, even driving us to one of them!

you are awesome at what you do and we hope to return someday!

Perfection in Burgundy!

  • 5 of 5

Let me start the review by saying that this trip was planned to celebrate a ten year anniversary - so much time and effort was given to make it the best experience for my wife as is/was possible. Our time in Meursault was the third leg in a journey via Champagne and Chablis - so a wine and food focused adventure to be sure.

I spent the better part of a month researching properties in the area that would give us the following:

-central location to Beaune/Puligny/Meursault/Santenay

-vineyard views

-updated fit/finish of property interior

-excellent previous reviews

Based upon the pictures of the property, map location and previous reviews this property appeared to hit the mark on all criteria. This in mind, I sent a note to the owners of the property requesting additional information. Little did I know I'd meet the ever-charming Susie who responded quickly and in great detail. Having checked all boxes I booked the property for our June stay.

Approximately 1 month out, Susie touched base to confirm our time and to provide additional details on the property. She was even kind enough to review my itinerary for the area and provide her own suggestions which was much appreciated.

On arrival into Meursault, we navigated the gorgeous streets in town to find ourselves at a stunning, walled vineyard in front of a property pictures simply cannot recreate. Susie and her husband Andy graciously welcomed us to their property (seems too cold a word for what this is!) and gave us a walk through of our condo for the next 5 days (along with a thoughtful welcome basket). Details have been given in prior reviews about the fit/finish - I'll simply say that we were absolutely delighted with the bedrooms, bathrooms, living spaces, and kitchen and hated leaving! Susie has outfitted the kitchen with everything you'll need to make a meal if you decide to do so. Espresso cups, wine glasses/utensils etc are all there. Susie has thought of everything.

By walk, one is roughly 2-3 minutes to several boulangeries/patisseries/restaurants. I particularly enjoyed the blue boulangerie each morning (except Wed when closed) for croissant - not to be missed. Puligny is roughly a 5 minute drive to the south with Beaune approx 10 minutes to the north - easy accessibility to the national road which takes you to the north (Gevrey/Vosne-Romanee).

If you are coming to Burgundy and want the best - stay here. We look forward to seeing Susie and Andy on our next trip!

Absolutely fantastic home

  • 5 of 5

We reviewed a great number of properties prior to choosing this one. Save yourself some time and just book this one. It is fantastic! We were met on arrival by the owner who is the most gracious host. We stayed here 5 days with our daughter and son in law. Two bedroom arrangement is very nice. The home has been very carefully remodeled, but with careful attention to details and keeping the original stone walls and beautiful wooden beams. It looks brand new. It is furnished with just about everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Beautiful architecture and views of the vineyard. We used the patio every day and cooked on the barbecue all but one night. Sat in the hot tub and watched the sun set over the vines. The beautiful town of Mersault is a very short walk with stores and restaurants to meet your every need. This was our first trip to the Burgundy area and we fell in love. We will definitely be back and will definitely stay here again! Many thanks to Susan and Andy for creating such a beautiful and memorable place.

Pictures do not give this rental Justice! Absolutely stunning property and grounds. Susie thought of every possible detail to make it feel like home. She also made herself readily available for questions, recommendations etc. My family and I fell in love with this beautiful quaint town and all that house #2 had to offer.

Really nice and comfortable property, beautifully converted old stone barn, and easy walk to village

We spent 3 lovely days in this house in Meursault. The rooms are huge and airy, the space is very comfortable, including the outside patios, complete with BBQS for each house. Susan and Andy are amazing hosts, providing many comforts and small welcoming touches for their guests. Highly recommended.
