About the property

The 2700 Sq Ft Lodge Is On 300 Acres In Forest, Private And Beautiful.

Being avid hikers that frequent the park, we can help you plan your Yosemite visits, with suggestions as to the more scenic and less busy places and times in the park.

We are a scenic 40 min drive from the entrance gates on highway 120. The 2700 sq. ft lodge is simple, yet elegant. It will suit a very wide range of needs, from a small group, to someone looking for a well appointed space for their special event.

We are a destination with its own beauty and charm, a beautiful valley, a former Yosemite Miwok Indian village site. We make all our power from solar, yet have a new and modern house with most all amenities.

We have a dog friendly room, (additional fee). This is the only room of the house that dogs can be in. We are perfect for families large and small.

This site began the first tourist trail into Yosemite in the 1860s, a trail that John Muir walked.) History tours are available.

There are miles of trails, swim holes and a limestone cave to explore.

There are many things to learn about: living off the grid on alternative energy systems, the Miwok Indians and their village here, and the gold rush period that followed, gold panning, sustainable forestry, edible wild greens, etc! See the old rock work that built the Coulterville free trail into Yosemite in the 1850s and the old stone buildings still standing today.

Guests can hike our 300 acres of trails and have access to two swim holes, a cave to explore, and nearby swim holes as well. We have a fully equipped kitchen just for guests to prepare your meals. Also a propane BBQ as well as a charcoal bbq (bring your own charcoal). The game room with ping pong and lots of board games will keep everyone busy playing together! We have a house phone with unlimited nationwide phone calls. We also have WiFi for our guests. Note: We have a very fully equipped kitchen for our guests to use. There is a second kitchen (a commercial kitchen) which is not available for guests.

We are very familiar with Yosemite and the trails. We can help you plan a memorable trip through the park, based on your needs, and help you to avoid the crowds while having an awesome Yosemite experience!

The quiet peacefulness and wide open spaces make this a place to really unwind. We love the quiet, waking up to the birds chirping, the clear flowing water, the remoteness of the land.

About Lynn Ferry

We are loving stewards of the land, wanting to share our paradise with others!

Why Lynn Ferry chose Coulterville

We have lived on Bull Creek for 11 years, wanting to be in a remote area with the hopes of bringing others here to share in the beauty and solitude of the natural world. The neighboring property became available 3 years ago, on the other side of Bull Creek, and we purchased it and got to work developing a lodge. We opened for our first guest in March of 2014. We are near to the Lodge, yet far enough way for our renters to have their privacy, yet close by if they need anything.

What makes this lodge unique

I would say that the most important benefits of this property are:

1. The privacy one gets when on a piece of land as large as ours. There are no neighbors, so you can make noise as loud as you want and as late as you want!

2. Since we make our own power, it is eco friendly and a great educational experience for our guests.

2. The house was well thought out, to accommodate groups large and small. The house is set up so that people can be in the game room making noise while others can be in the bedrooms on the other side of the house and hear no noise. The house is simple, yet well appointed, yet elegant, with custom Amish furniture.

Amazing! Outstanding! Wonderful! Peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

This place is an absolute gem! I can’t say enough about it; but I’ll give it the ol college try 😀?

If you have a chance to stay at Lynn and Richards property I suggest you DO IT! It is definitely off the beaten path but that is the magic of it. You’ll be driving in saying “what the heck did I get myself into!” Becasue it’s a bit of a jaunt, but so so so so very worth every minute! When you finally happen upon the valley the lodge is like a big beautiful beacon of good times to be had!

We had a party of 25 people (adults and kids) and there was so much room 😀? none of us felt on top of each other and that was wonderful. Yet it was intimate enough to enjoy the family time.

The WiFi is NOT for streaming and that is wonderful! It makes you reconnect with everything and everyone around you. With all the games provided (and some we brought), the fire pit, and the seemingly endless grounds to explore you will always have something to do! Our kids (ages 2 to 20) all said multiple times “we wish we could stay all week!” And that’s saying something right there. They didn’t even care that they were missing their Twitter, Insta or Facebook feeds. Wow 😢? I miss this place already!

Pack your food! Think Costco...we did! Not only is the nearest shopping quite a drive away, but you will not want to leave once you get there becasue it is just that amazing! The kitchen is stocked with anything you need and the kitchen sink! Bring your own seasonings though because geeze.. theynprovise dang near everything else! Don’t be afraid to make noise either; We did and it was great not to have a “quiet time” like so many other rentals ❤️❤️

I could go on and on and on and on...but, the main thing is that Lynn and Richard have created something amazing here and I feel so very blessed that they have been kind enough to share it with the world. Take care of this place if you get the pleasure of visiting becasue it is a treasure.

From the bottom of our hearts we all send a big THANK YOU Lynn and Richard for creating this little slice of heaven on earth 🌏?

Warmest regards

Kacie and my loud, crazy, wonderful, thankful family!

Wonderful secluded location, beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

My family and friends stayed at the lodge for three nights over New Year's and had an amazing time. Our sleepover group fluctuated from around 13 to 20 people throughout the weekend (and we were able to seat 27 for dinner with no problem!) and the house never felt too crowded. No one got lost on the way there, there was no snow on the roads, no one's car couldn't handle the dirt roads (though they did get dirty!)

The house was even more lovely in real life than in the photos and we were all pleased with the amenities (real heaters in most rooms with one wood stove in the family room that was fun to gather around). The beds were all topped with memory foam and super comfortable, the bathrooms were clean and equipped with basic toiletries (shampoo, soap, extra toilet paper). We cooked up a storm and never had a shortage of cooking implements (though we did wish that the gas stove and oven were a bit more powerful). It was a challenge to haul in/out allll the groceries and pantry staples we'd need (literally several cars full) but it worked out in the end. We ended up using the folding card table the owners provided as a kitchen island and it served as a perfect food prep area as well as overflow seating in the dining room when our group expanded.

We had been worried that the cold weather would make the outdoor space less of an asset, but we took a group walk through the valley and it was still very nice and very pretty. A few people went for a run up the hill, a group of us checked out the cave (we even saw a tiny bat!), the kids loved throwing rocks in the stream. The swimming holes *looked* great but we didn't want to freeze to death so we stayed clear. Our weekend itinerary precluded a Yosemite day trip (a bit too far for a short visit) but we spent two days in the park after checking out of the lodge.

We did find that after three nights/four days we generated more trash than the porch receptacles could handle, and when we left we left a lot behind in bags outside. There were instructions in the house manual to leave overflow trash in bins in the barn, but if there were bins there we couldn't find them.

Overall it was a wonderful experience and the house and setting contributed to a magical weekend. Lynn and Richard were extraordinarily helpful and accommodating throughout, and I would definitely recommend the property to groups large and small for an affordable and private retreat.

Glamping experience!

  • 4 of 5

If you love to stay in the woods, completely unplugged but still need a clean kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms, this place is for you! We have folks who never went camping, and this gave a almost camping experience to our entire group. Lynn is a great host and having her right there incase of any questions was also very convenient.

Had a great time !!

  • 5 of 5

We were 5 families (group of 18) and had a great time at this property. Lynn was very nice to deal with and was easily reachable and accommodating. Table tennis was nice for kids and adults and there were some board games/puzzles in the closet for kids. We all enjoyed the creek few minutes walk. There was no issue getting to the property or going to Yosemite (we had printed directions, took us 1hour from the property to Yosemite gate). Overall great experience and we may be back here!

Owner's Response: Thanks Zakir! We equally enjoyed having you all as guests. And would be happy to host your group again. Lynn PS The drive to the park gate on highway 120 can be variable based on traffic, stops for scenic overlooks, etc. We usually do it in about 40-45 min.

Family bonding and everyone wants to come back!!!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for places that can hold our family trip this year. In Yosemite there were not a lot of places that can hold about 30+ people in one house. Luckily, I stumbled upon this place here and decided to book it. I knew there was no TV, Wi-Fi and signal in this place and that made it more of an adventure. The kids for the first few hours didn't know what to do but after getting acclimated to their surrounding they started to venture out. The place has a number of amenities to keep you busy. If you just want to relax, you can do that also. I can say a number of great things about this property but that would take more than the allocated space for this review. I do have to say that Lynn was the nicest and most helpful person that I can only dream of. I've stayed in a number of vacation rentals but the customer service she gave us was exceptional from the beginning to end. I had many questions to ask her and she answered them promptly. I just want to thank Lynn for making this trip memorable not just for the adults but for the kids as well.

We want to come back!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 19 bunking here for two nights as part of a Bachelor/Bachelorette weekend and loved it. There were plenty of bathrooms to accommodate all of us, comfortable beds, and no shortage of kitchen supplies. We made a campfire both nights (with firewood, matches, and marshmallow skewers already provided), enjoyed coffee out on the porch in the mornings, BBQed out back, and the guys played some ping pong matches downstairs. With the system of opening windows at night and closing in the cool air in the mornings, the house stayed comfortable throughout our stay. And believe it or not, we were all able to survive without cell service and hair dryers for the weekend ;)

Our favorite part of the property was hands-down the swimming hole (there are three, but we went twice to one with a slack line and floating dock), and Richard gave us a winning recommendation for natural pools just off the property line that we hit on our way home.

We drove into Yosemite Village to hike Mist Falls on the first morning and the drive went by much faster than expected: most of the distance is within the park boundary, so you have beautiful views the full way. The one area where we had trouble was following the dirt road to and from Yosemite from the property. One car got lost on the way out, and one on the way back in. There is a hand drawn map to follow (with mileage), but we found ourselves double guessing which turnoffs to take - it would make a big difference if there were little wooden signs or trail blazes to help reassure cars that they're on the right path!

Checking in and out were both very easy processes: Richard gave us a quick orientation and then came back to do a walk-through as we were leaving. We pretty much stripped the beds, cleaned up any trash, and made sure the dishes were done - very easy. I've stayed at other VRBO properties where you have to complete a multi-step binder-guided cleanup process, so Richard and Lynn's approach was very much appreciated!

There was already talk of a "bachaversary"...I hope that we can come back one day!

Car: necessary

We are 11 miles from the nearest small town, with gas, groceries, a breakfast and lunch diner. We are 4.2 miles on a County maintained dirt road. A regular car has no trouble getting in and out year round, with few exceptions. In the dry months, the road will be dusty.
