About Polk County:

In Polk County, there is always something great to do -- especially in the great outdoors. Polk County is an all season vacation destination with a natural landscape found nowhere else in the world. The Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway frames their backyard and hiking boots, kayaks, bicycles, paddleboats are your keys to explore this national treasure. They claim the oldest state park in Wisconsin -- Interstate Park. They are also home to one of the newest state parks -- Straight Lake State Park and a new state trail -- Stower Seven Lakes Trail.

Skilled taxidermists can preserve that fish-of-a-lifetime as visual proof for your fishing buddies. Paddleboat tours and railroad excursions are memorable travel alternatives. Spend a few hours on a beach soaking up the warm sunshine, or lace up the hiking boots and discover what's behind the next bend on the trail. Unleash the Lewis and Clark within you, and discover the fun of geocaching. Snowmobiling, Nordic skiing and downhill skiing enthusiasts rave about our trails and facilities. They have seven quality golf courses to make it worth the drive.

Communities in Polk County boast plenty of indoor fun, too! Fueled with a stop at one of our many fine dining and casual eateries, you're ready to power shop at antique, craft and unique gift shops. There's exciting 24-hour gaming at the casino and a chance for a big jackpot. The arts are flourishing in Polk County. The Festival Theatre in St. Croix Falls, the St. Croix ArtBarn, and Northern Lakes Center for the Arts in Amery bring to the stage entertaining and thoughtful plays as well as musical artists throughout the year. They also have a large organization of local artists, EarthArts.

Present-day Polk County owes much to the early Native people who settled there thousands of years ago and, later, settlement by Euro-Americans. The railroads, logging, farming, and resort lifestyle all figure prominently in displays, exhibits and artifacts found at museums and historical sites throughout the county.

About Kathryn Rozin

Born and raised in Minneapolis, live and work locally, have three young children, always a dog, and now a cat named Small Fry thanks to our middle child (don't worry the cat never comes to the lake!). We love to be outside, spend quality time with one another, our family and friends, travel and try restaurants who source food sustainably and locally. When we travel elsewhere we like to discover what the locals do and love - whether it be a cafe, artist or adventure.

Kathryn Rozin purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Kathryn Rozin chose Luck

Before we owned this property we spent our honeymoon and many other special occasions vacationing here with family and friends. When it came up for sale we knew we didn't want to lose site of this gem so we purchased it, as is, including all the interior collections that came together after years of hard work by an amazing designer.

What makes this cabin unique

We are located on a private road with one neighbor hardly in sight. Our home is equip for year round use. Many come in the summer and early fall to experience the amazing lake fishing, swimming and great outdoors overall! In the winter we are just as busy with guests who relish in the local downhill skiing resorts, ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing trails, snowshoeing and playing outside in the elements! The Fall Foliage and Spring Blossoms are not to be dismissed either - both are full of color and creatures of nature that are fun to see. Every season is truly charming and the house and surrounding area is very desirable year-round.

The cabin was so cozy. We loved cooking in the kitchen. The beds were amazing. We had fun swimming off of the dock, boating the lake, grilling, and bonfire at night. Everything we needed was perfect. It was easy and wonderful communicating with the owner. We hope to stay again. Highly recommend.

Perfect Rustic Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect Adirondack cottage... in Wisconsin! We stayed during a wintry cold weekend and could not have asked for a better location. The old stone fireplace made a wonderful fire. The kitchen was perfect for making meals. The beds were very comfortable; each bedroom had a beautiful view to the lake. The cottage overall was actually slightly larger than I had expected. The owner was very responsive and provided extremely thorough information prior to our arrival which make it easy to determine what would be needed on our trip. Although this is a very old, rustic cottage with many collectibles and antique furnishings, everything was very clean and tidy. Overall this a wonderful location for a relaxing getaway and is highly recommended!

Truly unique and wonderful cabin that captures an earlier time

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I both grew up on the East Coast and it's always difficult for us to find charming vintage places that have the authentic feel of a real old Adirondack-style cabin. Katy has created a really magical space here, filled with antique (yet comfortable) furniture and collectible objects that give it a true north woods cabin feel. However, the place has all the amenities you would want: modern, spacious kitchen, good heat (for cold nights), nice bathroom, comfortable beds, etc. Sitting by the fire, reading, or looking out over the lake--it's just a real, relaxing delight. And Katy is great with all communication. If you're looking for an authentic, vintage cabin, I cannot imagine how you could do better than this place.

Charming cabin

  • 5 of 5

We took our two tween children to Katy's cabin for MEA and she couldn't have been a better host and was immediately available when we had questions. The cabin is creatively decorated which added to the ambiance/experience and the lake was full of fish for the children to catch. It was also a quick drive from the Twin Cities and near several area attractions including hiking and restaurants. The kitchen was awesome which was nice since my wife loves to cook. I would highly recommend this property.
