50 meters from the beach with a short walk through the courtyard to the patio of the main house to the steps and down to the beach, where you can lounge in the sun or just get into the beautiful gulf and soak in the salt water.
The pelicans love taking a dip in the water and catching their food and then sometimes they just hang out on the espalone.
There is so much to do or there is so little to do. It all depends on what you like.
My brother loves getting up in the morning and going along the shore to catch star fish. They are everywhere.
WE NEED TO HAVE 1 DAY IN BETWEEN RENTERS FOR CLEANING.
This cover photo is of a puppy that was on the property when we first came to visit. There were 10 puppies on the property and they were so cute. It was hard not to want to take them in. We fell in love with the whole area of Chelem including Progreso and Merida. The people are so kind in this area. They truly mean well and want to help with everything. We feel like we have found a piece of paradise.
Tim and Kelly King purchased this house in 2013
We bought this property because we were looking for a place to retire and we felt like this was the perfect spot, not too close to the cruise ship activity but still close enough to go and have dinner in Progreso. We are very excited to immerse ourselves into the culture.
This two story offers privacy with the upstairs. The upstairs is basically a unit by itself. The breeze off of the ocean is unbelievable and the second story offers great views.
We had a very enjoyable time at Buena Vida. The house was stocked perfectly, we needed nothing. It was close to everything and far enough away to avoid the crowds. We look forward to returning in the near future for our next vacation. Tim and Kelly were very informative and helpful. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!
Property and house well maintained. Household supplies, toiletries, bedding supplies excellent. Excellent service from the property managers. Swimming pool water was not heated and was quite cool. When in the house the Internet connection to devices was basically non-existent but readily available when outside. Persistent water issues throughout rental period. No water on more than one occasion but immediate attention given to the issue when property managers were notified. Water was trucked in on one occasion. Upstairs shower and television did not work. Washer/dryer unit washed OK but the dryer did not dry items completely. Sliding doors difficult to operate and would not remain on their track despite repair efforts by maintenance personnel. Communications between ourselves, owners and property managers was excellent and any concerns identified were immediately tended to whenever possible.
Had a wonderful stay in Chelem. Fabulous people, food and adventures! Easy to travel on combis so no need to rent a car. Progresso and Merida just a short combi ride away. Chelem Center a 25 min stroll. Kelly was amazing with her recommendations and ideas for exploring the area. Property management staff amazing. Loved the pool and 2 storey house. Internet and tv were great for when you came out of the sun. For light sleepers would recommend bring ear plugs for the odd car as some Mexicans don't believe in mufflers! Overall an excellent 3 week stay!
My sister and I chose to stay here to celebrate our birthdays. Merida, Chelem, Progresso were small towns with friendly people. We used the local transportation on several occasions since we chose not to rent a car. There were several restaurants and little stores within walking distance (about a mile). We visited the Gran Museum in Merida, the mall and the Costco parking lot Cenote. If you are truly looking to escape and reset to a simple way of life this is the perfect place. We decided not to venture into any busy populated places because we wanted to spend the time just relaxing in the sun and away from the hustle and bustle. The property managers Martie and Veronica were very helpful and friendly. The property owner (Kelly) was friendly and always promptly replied to my questions.
I can't say enough good things about this property and the owners Kelly and Tim!
We booked a post holiday trip to "rest or mind, body and soul" and enjoy all that the Yucatán has to offer. We arrived late and Martie (the property manager) was onsite waiting for us with keys, instructions and a tour of the property. Late and hungry Martie took it upon herself to take us to a local restaurant, the Bull Pen" and sweet talked the owners to open the kitchen and feed her new friends.
Tim and Kelly have thought of everything when furnishing their home for the comfort of their guest. Fully stocked kitchens with nice appliances you can actually cook on, spices, bath towels, wash clothes, linens and even shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The beds and pillows are comfortable, so much so that we ordered the same pillows for our own bed when we came home.
Their staff was extremely nice, curtious and quick to react to anything you may need.
The grounds and house are meticulously maintained and the pictures are exactly what you get.
Fantastic house (owners and staff) in a sleepy little fishing village where you can use as a home base to explore the region or just stay in and relax at your HomeAway, but even better!
The area is very safe, I would have loved to have been in front of the beach, but overall everything you needed in a house it had it! Kelly, Veronica and Martie available when needed, it's a very small town to get away and just relax, we had friends over and they loved it as well, my only wish list for this Home is a Tv in the downstairs bedroom and a bigger TV in the living room 😉Thank you for sharing your Home we hope to come back one day!
There is LIVE THEATER, SYMPHONY AND OPERA in Merida.
The town of Cuzama is known for the large number of cenotes found there. Especially unique is a tour that you can do in this area where you will visit three cenotes. If you go to the hacienda in Cuzama, you can hire a guide who will put you on a platform buggy pulled by horses along interesting paths through the surrounding countryside. The main cenotes are: Chelentun (laying down rock), Chansinic'che (tree with small ants) and Bolochoojol (nine drops of water). The Chelentun Cenote has incredibly blue and clear water, with excellent visibility. Stalactite and stalagmite formations add to its unique beauty. There is such beauty in the Cenotes.
