I always call the house 'the short squat blue house on the left' and from outside it looks like the smallest house on the block. BUT its actually TWO HOUSES. Two small cottages .

The front house has been converted into a large entertaining area. I replaced all the walls with support beams and sliding doors. So, in the front home all the doors can be open, creating a wide open common space, or one set of doors can be closed creating on large guest room or two sets of doors can be shut creating two smaller guest rooms.

There is one queens size bed in the first bedroom, the other room has a full size futon.

Open and restful. A place to let loose and enjoy the company of friends .

Simple, rustic,

a place to breathe , unwind.

The furnishings and amenities are old , and often restored by my own hand.

As an artist I create a mess with my work and some areas of the floor have been scuffed or even suffered from paint dripping from a drying canvas.

I love it.

If you want space, privacy , comfort, to be surrounded by art, and the ability to relax. and a location that is central to every distinct neighborhood in the city. This might be perfect.

a limited but functional country kitchen. with oven , coffee maker, blender, stove top, refrigerator ( usually with some beer and wine)

There is off street parking in the front.

Interaction with Guests

as much or as little as needed.

When I rent the whole house out, I usually take that as an opportunity to leave town myself. But I am usually there at check in and am happy to go over anything with anyone.

I know the city.. the what must be seen.. and the how's to get to them. So please feel totally at ease to ask.

The Neighborhood

I am overwhelmed with love for my neighborhood.

In my thirteen years living in New Orleans , I have lived in most all the major neighborhoods. The French Quarter, the Treme, Uptown, The Irish Channel , The marigny and the by water.

They are all great and unique and each one is filled with its own culture and identity.

The lower garden has it's own identity as well. Its old world architecture , parks, tons of late night bars . My house is just a little over one block from the entrance to magazine street, , maybe a two minute walk from Square Root ( best tasting menu in the city) The Saint ( best late night-- till mid morning dive bar) art galleries , artisan shops, 3 coffee shops, antique stores, bike shops.. and thats just within the first two blocks.

The lower garden districts also the most convenient place to be located if you want to travel around the city. Other neighborhoods can be secluded but none of them are more than ten minutes away from this one. It's pretty neat

Getting Around

The house is 3 blocks away from a main bus route and a six block walk to the Saint Charles Street Car.

By car you are in the most accessible point in the city. The lower garden district has hundreds of its own destinations but its also a straight shot 3-5 minute drive to the heart of The French Quarter, and in the opposite direction a straight shot to the heart of the Garden District and Uptown. In another direction it's 5 -10 minutes to mid city and the fairgrounds.

I also keep two bikes on premise and my guest is always welcome to one, or to rent a cycle from the bike shop 2 blocks away.

If without a car, taxis are also easily available in the area.
