Why The Owner chose Rileyville

I canoed this part of the river more than 20 years ago and thought it the most beautiful stretch of river I had ever seen. We feel so fortunate to enjoy such a beautiful place and have enjoyed guestst coming from all over the world, returning families, their friends, and now their children here on Cedar Point Farm. People enjoy fields, woods, all kinds of wildlife, and we even have astronomers come to enjoy the night sky. We are proud to share this beautiful spot with others who come to appreciate the beauty of the area. This cabin is wheelchair friendly for easy access to enjoy relaxing by the fire or to be outside enjoying a beautiful sunset. We hope you choose to experience the beauty of the Shenandoah River Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains with us on Cedar Point Farm.

What makes this cabin unique

This Cabin boasts unbelievable views from the kitchen, dining, living and bedroom areas. The one story design of the cabin with walk-in shower, support bars, make it inviting for people of all ages and mobility.

Sounds of nature, warm fireplace, beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

We loved listening to and watching the birds fly by, enjoying the view of the hills from the hot tub, and sitting by the fireplace. The size of the cabin was perfect for a couple's stay. It was very clean and neat upon arrival & we had no trouble keeping it that way. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots and pans and tools for cooking. We had brought extra kitchenware just in case but found that it wasn't necessary. The area down by the river is fairly private and also beautiful. There's a fire pit by the cabin and another one down by the river.

I found the bed in the bigger bedroom to be too soft and didn't enjoy sleeping on it, but it didn't stop me from enjoying my stay. The view from the bedroom window is also lovely. Bugs were not a huge problem although we had quite a few lady beetles sneak in and circle the lights. If you want to listen to music, bring CDs! the local radio station gets old quick and there's no Wi-Fi.

The drive to Shenandoah national park was easy, only about 20 mins and basically one road the whole time. We went to the northernmost entrance.

Overall we had a wonderful stay and we plan on coming back in the summer.

Perfect Getaway

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. We come to the area a few times a year and we can honestly say that this was our favorite cabin. Great views, clean house, and a good location made this a great trip.

Nice open sitting area with beautiful views.

  • 4 of 5

As a photographer, I am looking for great views when I vacation, and this place easily delivers. I got some amazing night sky shots from the deck over the weekend, and the daytime shots were fantastic, too! The main area was an open layout with a gas fireplace that did an amazing job of keeping the place warm despite the 16° weather both nights. A short walk down the road brings you to a great, broad bend of the South Fork Shenandoah River, which is ALWAYS a pretty river. The owner's other cabin is also down that road, and looks to be a very charming older cabin with a lot of character. The town of Luray is less than 15 minutes away and has just about anything you might need for dining/groceries. If you want to get away to a cozy place with amazing sights, either of Nina's places would be great!

Views and cabin were great and exactly as advertised. Fireplace and hot tub were perfect during our extremely chilly weekend stay. Host was also very responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Lovely Property

  • 5 of 5

The photos and information are exactly as viewed and described. The view of the river and outline of the mountain ranges are breathtaking upon first arrival (this coming from a lowland Southerner.) For those with dogs, it seems an ideal place to let them run free some. We never worried about our small dog as traffic was over a mile away, and we felt very secure in her staying on the property boundaries. We vacationed while the nights were chilly in the 20 degree range, and for many of the nights, we did not need to turn on the central heating unit. The gas log insert provided more than enough heat in very short order. Washington D.C. is only 90 miles away, but give your self between 2 and three hours to travel due to construction on the interstate. There are several War for Southern Independence battlefields nearby, and all worth exploring for historical and cultural learnings. Take the time to spend walking and shopping in Luray. It is a beautiful small Southern town with Antiques, Boutiques, Book Stores, small restaurants, and other odds-and-ends. Be sure to eat and grab a drink at the Speakeasy Restaurant in Mimslyn Inn.

All in all, you can't go wrong staying at this home in the hills. Come enjoy the towns, hills, and history around this home, and you will return to your home refreshed and invigorated.

Cozy getaway!

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful place to getaway from normal life for a spell, this cabin gave us the opportunity to spend a few days away from the city, pause and refresh. Beds were a bit soft in terms of back support, but other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend & stay there again. Thank you!
