Serramezzana is the smallest municipality in the Campania region. Its scenary is dominated by 'PALAZZO MATERAZZI', the small houses which can be see in the ancient historical center and by the green area all round.
Materazzi palace is an ancient baronial residence, built in 1750 and recently refurbished, but it kept intact the enchanting frescoes, the original courtyard with a big main entrance and a well and its peculiar tower. Inside Parisian tapestries and a fresco 'The dance of the Muses to the sound of Apollo's music', which dates back to 1897 and was painted by an artist from Salerno, Giuseppe Avallone. Everithing in this magnificent building strikes the visitor, but it is the banquet room which leaves you breathless: each object recalls the unimportant and the important events wich look place here and the object even include a coffe- cup may have been used by the notorious Gioacchino Murat.
