About this property

ZOURIDI VILLA PARK -LARGE POOL

The position of the hotel is excellent: centrally located in the heart of Crete, only 18 kilometres from the historic and vibrant city of Rethymno, the hotel offers a variety of activities of historical, cultural or simply recreational interest.

If you are interested in hiking it is possible to visit the Temple of the Five Maidens, a marvelous ramble, and also The Island, a fossilized village on the mountain which takes its name from the rivers that surround it. Christian churches are everywhere in this area, and you can visit and admire them. The natural beauty of the area is an added bonus for those who love outdoor activities. We can arrange other hikes and rambles for you in the surrounding countryside filled with wild flowers and herbs.

In nearby Argiroupolis, you will find the springs of the Holy Power, with their stone arches with streams and waterfalls, also traditional tavernas, ancient mills and the chapel of Our Lady. This charming village is a mere 10 minute drive away.

Thanks to the location of our hotel, you have easy access to both the North and South coasts. In 15 you can be on the beach at Episkopi, and in another 25 you arrive in the beautiful southern resort of Plakias.

We will be happy to help you organize your excursions using our own experiences. For more details, please do not hesitate to contact us.In 1900,our Grandfather laid the first foundations of the mansion and had to travel twice to America to work in the mines to be able to complete it 15 years later. The building housed his family, his animals and his crops, which were protected in the 20 large earthenware pots that still decorate the hotel today.

The current owners, Giannis and Despina have transformed it into an opulent hotel, taking care to maintain and take advantage of its captivating beauty and bracing magnetism, which draws from its foundations of charming traditional Cretan stone, while fully respecting the nature and history of the surrounding area. All our rooms are air conditioned with the ecological ‘Funcoil’ system, have fireplaces and mountain views

Capacity: 15 people

Satellite TV LCD-USB, refrigerator and intercom throughout the hotel. Free internet and WiFi. Change of linen 3 times a week. Faxes can be sent from reception where there is also a computer for guests’ use. Breakfast served each day and lunch can be served on request.

In the basement, in winter, we offer complimentary traditional dishes, cooked on the woodstove. You simply buy the raki to go with it!

Our pool is 100 square metres, with a depth of 1.60 metres, children’s pool 40cm deep, with overflow system providing sodium chloride electrolysis.

The seawater has emollient properties so that the skin and hair retain their smooth texture and do not become dry and brittle as happens when using chlorine. Another very important factor is that when the water passes through the electrodes, chloramines (‘dead chlorine’ which causes the chlorine smell and stinging eyes) are destroyed, leaving the water fresh and healthy, and ideal for children.

There is also a lifeguard in attendance.

In the pool bar, enjoy a cool, refreshing drink under the trees, and take in the sun while enjoying the panorama of our beautifully paved swimming pool.

Private parking with CCTV is provided

The hotel’s twenty private acres of natural beauty along with Daphne our loveable filly are there for your enjoyment. With much love and care, but also respecting the environment and local traditions, the Spandidaki family have recently created a modern, well equipped, and traditionally decorated hotel in the village of Zouridi in Rethymno, Crete. With rich traditional building stone, the hotel is a welcoming haven for visitors and holidaymakers in both the cold months of winter and the bight and warm summer days. The Spandidaki family, committed to impeccable service and guest satisfaction, closely follows the tradition of island hospitality, offering top quality service with devotion to its guests. The quaint atmospheric basement of the mansion with its winepress and lighted water repository is today the living room of the hotel, and where breakfast is served.

Handmade Cretan dishes, prepared by the owners with fresh, pure, local ingredients including fresh milk, flavoured jams and bread baked in the wood stove, will ensure a pleasant and nutritious start to the day. While in the evening, with raki and appetizers being served, and in the presence of good company, you will feel yourself being carried back in time!

Property review
The property is beautiful and the pool is amazing. The room layout is a bit weird, as two bedrooms are also walkways and the kitchen is upstairs so a walk from the outdoor eating area. The property is in a remote area which has gorgeous views but you need a car to go anywhere.

A wonderful house in calm and breathtaking environments
We were a couple of families (14 people) who spent a week in Zouridi. We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The house is beautiful, functional and with a very nice pool, where we spent several nice hours. It also has a very nice spot for barbecuing, where we sat the whole group a couple of nights and had dinner under an enormous tree. The village is located high up in the hills and the surroundings are really spectacular, with breathtaking views of the landscape. Zouridi is a very small and extremely quiet village. It has one small taverna, which we also fell in love with. It had no written menu, but invited us into the kitchen to choose from the food or decide what we wanted made from the grill. The food was excellent and the staff wonderful. Which also goes for the owners of the Zouridi villa. Very helpful and kind. To get to the sea it is a 20 minute drive down the mountain. The area is full of nice, small villages where you can stop for something to eat or drink. To conclude, we were very happy with our stay!

Great property, very clean and spacious with a great pool and outside area.
Our overall experience was fantastic. Giannis and his wife met us upon arrival with warm cheese pastries and homemade lemonade and couldn't have been more helpful throughout our stay. Every member of our group really enjoyed the holiday. It is in a great location, has great facilities and the local taverner is amazing. We are hoping to return every year!
